- The second official tier list recently dropped. So I decided to make a video going over the biggest changes, my thoughts and throw out some hot takes! Is this tier list accurate? Today I find the answers!

It's crazy how good Kirby can be when played by someone who's competitively competent with him. Putting Kirby in D-tier is actually criminal.

In my opinion I think bowser should be a high tier because he has all the powerful benefits of a heavy but with a good amount of speed and ways to deal with things that can just beat out other heavy’s.
I can see it honestly, his recovery and disadvantage is the thing that holds him back. He’s pretty good tho
@@Iso_SSB He also has really bad tech rolls which are extremely easy to punish with moves you'd normally use to punish techs in place.

Hot take Kirby is way to good
Most of your takes were "underrated" or "will rise". It's just impossible in a game with so many characters, and all of them having different strengths. Some have to be better than others, so of course some character has to be ranked 70th (like Mewtwo).
That being said, Shulk is waaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy overrated, and has been the entire games lifespan.
I have been saying this for so long. They put him so high because "he loses to no more than 4 characters". I just don't believe that. On top of that, he doesn't have much in results.

I think lucas could be higher, he has the most ridicolous zair, one of the easiest 2 frames whit down smash, up air ladder combos, amazing K.O power, (even though quite slow and laggy) the strongest up smash in the game, i think the character is way too underatted
HOT TAKE: smash bros tier lists are dumb. Because everyone has a different type of skill with every fighter in game, some people can make the worst fighters in the game look like complete powerhouses. And most official smash bros tier list are pro player’s opinions.
Plus theyre only ranked in competitive results.

Aside from Steve and maybe Kazuya's gimmicks, S-Tier (+) ot (-) is just competitive ranking by the pro players' favourite. Snake can go there too as someone with a lot of gimmicks but the difficulty to play him at least makes sense. Aegis is also just good as a swordie with almost no weakness. The rest can be played with a lot of diversity and maybe some have advantage over the other but the tierlist can just get shuffled anytime. Of course those who lacked some of the basic maneuver like a decent recovery can become classified as a tier lower like little mac and ganondorf but there is a challenge to their gameplay.
I’m a bit conflicted on the new SSBU tier list in regards of my two mains.
I am absolutely ecstatic over Yoshi’s rise to 14, but I also think Pac-Man at 23 is a bit too low, given how he is in ultimate.
I’m sure it’ll change in the next revision… presumably next February.
Yeah, Pac-Man being that low really surprised me, the character hasn’t had as good results lately, but he’s still really good imo

@JasonChristian-sl5ql use shot put for ledge trapping and faint jump or BDK for recovery, then you got an easy A+ or S- Tier

Never in my 300+ hours playing this game I haver touched Steve. And I'm proud of that.

As a Snake main and MGS fan, I love the fact that he is no.4 in a game he has nothing to do with. But I think he peaks there and should not be this high again. As this is more of a represantitive of the Player's skills with AK, hurt or MVD rather than with Snake's full kit. I agree he's an S-tier but he's sluggish, heavy and exhausting to use with a risk of backfire from most of his own attacks always there. The Pros does make it seem as if nothing is impossible for Snake.
I mean…..if he has nothing to do with Smash then neither does the majority of characters that showed up after Melee.
@@zedorian6547 I guess I misworded it. I mean he started with having no business in smash until he nails becoming the first third party guest. And what comes after are just guest after guest from the most unusual places.

@ 3:49 boi I know you did not just say Link has bad frame data. That's the good part about Link, his excellent frame data on Nair and Bair, and his hero spin OOS isn't exactly bad either, and that just kills you. Let's also not forget to mention Z drop out of shield is frame 4 and literally leads to death or a 50/50 edge guard from any percent between 30% and 160% depending on the matchup.
People need to remember, tier lists like these ones are based on professional opinion and tournament results. Regardless of what your opinion is, this is the current state of the meta. This doesn't mean your character is unviable, and it doesn't mean you can't be skilled with a character. It just means you'll have a much easier time with the better characters because of the tools they have. Not to mention, the characters advantage has to outweigh their disadvantage, otherwise they'll be lower on the list. Some of these characters can cook, but when both players are both very professionally skilled, it will eventually come down to the characters tools

Here’s a tip: don’t go off a tier list. If a character is “bottom tier” it doesn’t mean it’s unusable. Just play whoever you like to play, if you have fun with mii Swordfighter play mii sword fighter even if he’s considered a low tier character
Any character can be good if used correctly, yes, even ganondorf.
All I'm saying is Chrom anywhere below B is a crime and his recovery is not nearly enough to keep him that far down.

EXTREMELY HOT TAKE: Ganondorf is at the VERY least high C-tier. He gets enough hits, and each does massive damage. Like, 0-100 in 5-6 hits
That is indeed a hot take, as it fails to consider how many characters can easily out space him, interrupt him, punish him, and combo him. He lacks any defense other than weight and potential threat if you get hit, but he can't combo well at all, nor can he approach others easily, and is defenseless against projectiles
Gannon is an animal and people do overlook him. However you have to play PERFECT to do well against competent players or characters that have good match ups against him.

If you want quick heavy damage just pick bowser or DK, if you wanna rack up percent pick Luigi or Kazuya, if you really wanna play a character like Ganondorf, just play Captain Falcon.

I would say that the worst mistake in this tier list has been Robin's placement.
I know that the character's fault is his gimmick,but a good Robin can't be underrated.
I fought a few Robins that I can say,they're mid level,so they were really strong.
It's a shame that Robin hasn't visibilty in top level.
i feel like my main (wolf) should have remained in s. he got everything, strong fast attacks, range, reflector, cheesy insta kill, great movement, he really is just one of the best characters imo
I think the reason he's in A and not S is because he apparently struggles against the broken characters who currently dominate the meta (i.e. Steve, Aegis, and Kazuya).

The main problem with Wolf is that nothing of him feels super broken. Like all of his moves are pretty strong but he's just not as busted as other S tier characters.

Putting characters who can absolutely control the entire match if your predictable (mainly k rool) in low tiers is wild
keyword is "if you're predictable" and honestly most heavyweights just suck with their only advantages being since they're heavy they don't get knocked as far and aerial spikes.
I'm so glad that the truth is starting to come out. I've always hated how highly characters like Pikachu, Shulk, Wii Fit Trainer, etc. were placed because of "potential". It's been over 5 years. It's time we start really looking at results.

(Personally, Kirby’s A+ or A he can cook really good with combos and agility, problem is he dies early and moves are kinda easy to dodge but C tier lowest Kirby is not worse than Duck Hunt 💀💀)
Kirby for me is a B or C because of his agility and pretty easy attacks along with combos. But that just me

S is too high but I’d put Kirby nothing below C because ability and combos Kirby can cook especially with Bosses (with spirits you can cook cook)
Hot take: if your main isn’t fun then you shouldn’t play them unless there’s money on the line.
Official tier list...I didn't realise Nintendo or Sakurai dropped a Smash Ultimate tier list.
Because they don't care for the competitive side of the game, it is official btw because the competitive players do those lists

@@zedorian6547 they study how the characters work, and i don't even think that sakurai know his characters that well lol, looking that he didn't knew that bayonetta was still broken in the beta of ultimate as a example, or that characters like kazuya and Steve have unfair mechanics and he didn't do anything to nerf them, that's why pro players are the ones Who say how good are the characters at competitive level because they see how the characters work and the devs don't care for competitive tournaments
As a snake main, its very nice to see him in the top 5.
Pikachu in A tier confirms that this tier list lacks any kind of validity. Pikachu is IMO top 3, if you disagree that’s fine - Pikachu is OBJECTIVELY top 10. WTF.
Pikachu is my main and is one of the best characters. I completely agree with you.
Here's my take on the Pokemon characters.
Pokemon Trainer and Lucario is mid.
Jigglypuff is overrated as hell.
Pichu is ass.
I really like; Incineroar, Greninja, and Mewtwo.
Out of the Mario characters.
I really like; Dr Mario, DK, Bowser, Peach, and Rosalina.
Not a fan of Luigi, Yoshi, Daisy, Wario and Piranha Plant.
I really would have loved if they added Waluigi as a fighter.
@@ben-neon19 I’m not a top player by any means but theoretically, doesn’t it make sense that PT is top tier? I think tier lists should be judged on weighted matchups, and when you play a character who is three distinct characters in one, couldn’t you select the character that does most favourably against whoever you’re fighting so you’d very rarely get a losing matchup?
@@MinnowTF Yeah, but that was just my opinion. Of course I think PT is top tier but that doesn't mean that's my favorite character to play. I agree, that characters should be matched fairly because it doesn't make sense to put a character like Pichu against Ridley for example. In the end it does ultimately depend on the player. I mean if your really good at playing a character and know it's moves and combos really well, the it might as well be the best in the game.
For me, I've played Pikachu for a long time and I've won against characters like Pyra/Mythra, Meta Knight, Donkey Kong, Bowser and King Dedede so I think the rankings should be based on each persons favorite and is based solely on opinion.

Nah. His frame data is terrible, making his kill combos hard to land on good players, he has basically no way to punish anybody who knows how to fight him safely, he’s outclassed by bowser and dk as a viable heavyweight, and he’s combo food.
@@MattyMarr true but if you know how to play him that won't be a problem becaue I've beat my fair share of opponents that are really good and none of that was ever a real problem for me.

Wii Fit main here - Deep Breathing ain’t as good as you think. I DO think that she’s B tier, but because of her side special: Header. THAT move is busted.

All characters have a literal 0 to death they are all the same tier in this game so what I do is I actually say all of the characters that can dance with one button press are S tier

How is Link "objectively" the best of the Links when he has a combination of the lowest usage, worst tournament results out of them, and not a single rep within the Top 100?
@@Wizard_Lizard_ because usage aside you can see that he has the best kill combos, highest damage and range on his normals and the safest edgeguard of the three, nobody plays him because all people care about in this meta is sPeEd

Kirbys so good he helps me beat a boss
Still kind of a terrible character cause he has no way to reach opponents and he gets killed early.

@@TheTSMBoi I personally think he’s either bottom C or top of D, because one of the few characters in the game with no way of getting in, his mobility is too sluggish to reach most fast fighters and certain zoners and his range is too bad to be able to even touch swordies. On top of that, he lacks kill power until really high percents like 120 and all his specials, which are important to his neutral and disadvantage, are way too slow to be used reliably. While Kirby’s combos are pretty strong, every character has an aspect which makes them really strong, Kirby is just held back by his mountain of drawbacks. Ultimate Kirby is a great character and would prolly be B tier or even high in a game like Brawl or Melee, but in Ultimate, he’s just not fit to be anywhere higher than D.
Btw I main Kirby and have used him ever since Brawl, so I have loads of experience.

@@TheTSMBoi the thing is, Duck hunt at least has a good matchup chart, being mostly even with Steve, good against pac man, and overall a decent option as a counter pick to certain top tiers. Meanwhile, Kirby has one of the worst matchup charts in the game, being beaten by every sword character, most zoners, and some close range brawlers too. Not only that, but duck hunt is also harder to reach, as spamming out the projectiles can make him a genuine threat for certain characters if they have no good movement options.

If you’re having fun with him you should play him even if he’s in D tier. It’s all subjective anyway. I believe that (besides from steve of course) Kazuya is the best character. I’m a peach/daisy main btw.

Nah Incineroar is A tier, and Seph isn’t THAT bad (probably high B tier)
The difference between Ultimate and Melee is that in Ultimate, every character is viable. So even Ganondorf is good in the right hands.

I'm not really a Shulk believer either. Dude is very unrewarding for how technical he is, but somehow people still think he has a top tier matchup spread.
Yeah, shulk is forever gonna be the character with “potential” but honestly I don’t even think they have much potential.
