this laptop is incredibly beautiful
I like the darker charcoal keyboard deck this year, it looks quite nice
I have it.
And incredibly expensive especially in the uk
@@andrew8579wait on sales. Lenovo often does pretty legit sales. It hit a big one here in Canada and the USA this week
I love the depth of the video, you are the only person i could find who actually removed the back panel to show if it had options for an extra ssd because finding that online was nearly impossible. I find that companies dont give enough details on their items so its great to have someone actually explain the details they lack to show and explain, especially on large purchases like this. So I appreciate the time you put into this. Keep up the good reviews!
Trackpad is plastic then? How's it feel, is it solid? Had some bad experiences with plastic trackpads in the past.
Excellent laptop indeed, and thanks for the nice review. I saw that you also reviewed the slimmer legion 7 version. How much more difficult do you think it would be to carry this around instead of the slimmer one? They both seem really nice.
The slimmer one is definitely more portable. A couple pounds less, and a fair bit thinner
Any idea when this laptop gets released in europe? And i wonder if you can charge the laptop via thunderbolt port?
Can you compare the Legion Slim 5 with the Lenovo Loq AMD that has the same config? I want to know if the Slim 5 is actually spending 200USD more on for the exact same specs you yet on the Loq.
Amazing! Will you be doing a video on the G16 also?
I hope so 🙏
I have a g14 in my living room (overpriced but gotta review it). G16 possibly in the future.
I buy about 95% of the thing so review so I need to be careful to not go bankrupt
@@TechGuyBeau resell laptops, or return them to the store, or find people who buy a laptop, and take it for yourself to review, and then return it to this person, paying him a little
Mby to turn on frame generation in Horrizon?
For once someone that goes into details with this… now im sure i want this.. thank you
Congrats on the 50K man. You got this!
🤝
What a beauty!
hello I have a legion 5 pro ryzen 7 7745hx and rtx 4070..do you use a cooling pad for your legion laptop while gaming..and if I keep me laptop fans on 100% just while gaming is that fine..
You don’t need one assuming your raise the back… that being said I tested a llano pad on my channel, it was very good
Perhaps check out that review. I used it on a legion 7 slim for testing
@@TechGuyBeau yes raising the back reduces the temps quite well. Are you able to turn on gsync in hybrid gpu mode.
Could you review legion 5i pro i7-14700hx with RTX 4060 as well please? Thinking about getting one but not able to find any good reviews of that.
Ive already recorded my review of this laptop :)
I’ll be publishing soon.
man that's an absolute beast
Hey is there a big noticable difference between the 100% DCI-P3 and the SRGB panels?
Dunno what beau thinks, but i have a laptop that can switch between adobe rgb, srgb and dci p3.
I can easily tell the difference between them when i switch
@@maxsimes oh nice to know,thanks.
I can immediately tell yes.
As maxsimes says, with xrite you can switch between modes
@@TechGuyBeau thanks for the info
thanks for the sensational video. sub+
You said that its LM on the GPU...but its only on the CPU like last Gen and only on the Intel Version. Last Gen AMD had no LM at all....which is great tbh since easier to repaste. LM or not...these either way get pretty hot.
Great Review as always ❤
Which one would you choose between this and the Yoga Pro 9i 16"?
Very different. The yoga is sleeker and more MacBook like. But not as performant (still good). The legion 7i here is a powerhouse but much larger
I’ve had the same. I’ve ordered the pro 7i
just got this one but with the 4080 can't wait!
Laughs in 2023 pro 7 amd with cinebench of just under 34k (7945 hx). For real though, you were one of the people who made me buy it after many reviews (on sale, fully specced), and yes, 2024 has the cpu and optimus update which could be considered a reason to buy it for some (if it had OLED then the anwer would be "absolutely,", but alas). However regarding Optimus, I mean, I only use the laptop in dGPU anyway for maximum perfomance so that battery saving doesnt really affect me (ye its shite now, all cores unlocked, constant 240 hz + dGPU gives about 1h 30 min), but I am almost always gonna keep it plugged in anyway. My only complaint with the amd cpu is that I cant get any programs to be able to edit the voltages so that the quiet mode (slightly noisy) can get lower temps and reduced fan noise. But, ye, considering the cpu is the only "true" upgrade and gets beaten by the 7945hx I feel bad for anyone buying the intel legion this year. If you can (I couldnt) you should wait till next year when the rtx 5000 series comes out I belive.
If you should choose between slim version 2024 (rtx 4070) and this one ?
The pro sevens better, however it’s thicker and heavier a little bit less premium
Subscribed
What about noise levels. Just in general
Which would be a better pick - gen 8 2023 7i pro 4090 or 2024 gen9 7i pro 4080? in your view
If the prices are the same, absolutely get the 4090 machine
Can you please tell HOws the keyboard palm rest area temperature while gaming or load? Is there any video of yours testing the temperature etc?
The heat is primarily at the back behind the keyboard
This is pretty cool but I’m considering between this and one of the new snapdragon laptops that will come out
Love how they went back to the charcoal keycaps instead of the black from the Gen 8 that made it look cheap (like the Pro 5i). Also like how X-Rite is incorporated this way with better colour profiles too. Hope for Gen 10 they shift to no plastic (keyboard deck being plastic, plastic shrouds on the vests and the plastic trackpad is just horrible). That will have me upgrade from my Gen 8.
Yeah the charcoal is way better thank pure black for fingerprints
Can i get those (23' or 24') for music production, and creative work?
2023 2024 you mean?
If so yes, they have incredible power, a great 100% dcip screen, and good speakers
@@TechGuyBeau yes, Yes... Thank you, Mate 🥂
As a former tech support guy myself i can tell you're the real deal not some youtuber acting like a techy, great detail in the review
If i want this same model as you have, how will i revognise it?
I put links in the video description. Basically if you get the 4090 you will be getting this
@@TechGuyBeau Thank you.Mate.
Is the mobile intel 13 and 14 gen making headlines of frying gpu?
I don’t think so. Laptops have extremely strict power allocation plans.
@@TechGuyBeau ok thats good ty ty
Can you put 96gb ram on this laptop?
Hi bro
Lenovo Legion Slim 5 16APH8 (82Y9000QUS) $899 and Lenovo LOQ 15IRX9 (83DV00FXUS) $890
Which one is better to buy in 2024.
Or is here any other Gameing laptops in this price point.
Please reply.
Thank you 😊
What are the other specs
it's the same Screen that Lenovo Pro 7 Gen 8 (2023)?
It appears so yeah
the ram can upgrade until 64gb?
Yes
great video, I have a Lenovo legion pro i7 4090 16" 2TB , beautiful machine
I understand that the primary SSD can only be with chips "one-sided", the "both sided" SSD cannot fit ...?
One side takes double or single, one side takes single only
When loq review is coming 😭 do check the battery backup of this laptop as it is important for me
It’s been stuck in the UPS warehouse for four days unfortunately
@@TechGuyBeau is it cleared ? your last delivery date was on 29th April isn't it
Is there no white option for the 7i pro? 🥺
Unfortunately not
@@TechGuyBeau crap 🥺
I’m thinking about getting this. Has anyone had any software issues or issues with windows? Asking because I had to return my Alienware 18 because of it crashing and i hadn’t even installed games on it 😢
Is 2024 ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 better?
No
It is thinner, but that’s about it it will be considerably lower performing more expensive then the Lenovo Legion
once you go OLED it's hard to go back...but if youre using an external monitor like ever then its hard to debate the performance per dollar on last year's 7i 4080 and 4090 @ bhphoto
Does it have windows hello ??
It doesn’t
Can you put 48 GB Sticks?
You should be able to? But you can always ask Lenovo
@@TechGuyBeau I asked my Lenovo Service They said that they only worked with 32 GB. They do not know if it will work
Legion Pro 7i Gen 8 has been proven to work with 96GB, so this one can definitely too.
@@goldmastersimulations Thank you
So this or the 7i 2024?
That what i think, too....
If you want portability and all metal chassis (and thinner) 7i. It’s not as performant as this, even the CPU itself.
So:
1. Performance - 7i pro
2 . Portability and all metal - 7i
Notebookcheck wrote in its review 7pro has Aluminum metal chassis
I’ve ordered the pro 7i with 4080
cant wait for the amd version ( if there is any )
Me too.. waiting for the AMD version 😢
extend the display so there are no black bars on the monitor
Then it won’t be 4K, it will be 4k ultrawide. This is a 4k test
In my upcoming game test video I gave some 4k ultrawide footage
@@TechGuyBeau ok got it
How did you snag this for CAD $3600 (after tax). That's insane. I'm not getting anything below $4000 before taxes.
its 26% off right now
I want Gen 10 to be all-metal, fingerprint scanner, and rear-lighted I/O.
Seems like they are segmenting the 7 and 9 now. But I’d like the 7 to get the 2022 features for sure
The split it into cheaper but powerful 7i and then 9i for all those features but super expensive
Cpu temp seems high while gaming. Would like to see if you can undervolt and OC it to get better temps and performance
You can undervolt yes, but I always test at stock
This and last year's get get hot. I heard this year even more so. I undervolted last year's and it still goes up to like 90 sometimes
I was hoping you would make an entrance like in the thumbnail lmao
That thumbnail cosplay will make Lowcost Cosplay proud 😂
lol. I have some other low cost ones for my hogwarts legacy and others.
Maybe I’ll do a full review in crude costume one day
@@TechGuyBeau I will definitely waiting for that lol
Jokes aside, I think Lenovo just done it again with this year iteration of higher end Legion.
The 4080 one is very tempting honestly BUT they should start to improve in at least 2 things:
1. mini-LED as default or at least option in 7 series
2. Quad-speakers because it's just about time!
Outside those 2, I really have no complaint I can think of tbh.
21:13 but the cpu temps 💔
😂
This laptop only flaws imo are the plastic keyboard deck and the old USB A gen 1s, otherwise I would call it the perfect gaming laptop
No there are more issues
Keyboard rattling is a thing especially on the WASD keys on Gen 8 and Gen 9.
16:31 The battery lasts 6-8 hrs for productivity but only 4 hrs with RUclips? There must be something wrong there
There intel chips are notorious for using excessive wattages with simple tasks. Great for absolute power but and is super for efficiency. Just different options
@@TechGuyBeau But isn't video playback a simpler task than those for productivity? All GPUs have hardware acceleration for video playback, so it should use a little integrated graphics and not much CPU.
Productivity tasks can vary a lot, though. E.g., multitasking with complicated office files (e.g., PowerPoint slides with a lot of objects and animations) uses more resources than typing something simple in Word.
For 2.5k it BETTER have unlimited power
My lenovo légion went wrong after 1.5 years, costed 1.3 millión huf
Make sure to take care of you electronics. Treat them gently, clean out the fans routinely, proper airflow, avoid spilling stuff into them, etc… and they will last a lot longer. However there is always a chance that any electronic can go bad before it should
up 99 celcius degries on cpu??? This laptop is dangerous
?
@@TechGuyBeau With all due respect to you, in game tests (not stress tests) I see the processor heating up to 93-97 degrees. Max limit 100 for 14900 hx. This means that the cooling system in the laptop is not sufficient.

Right??
'It's a 4090, you're not going to have issues'
..except its not a 4090, its a laptop GPU masquerading as a 4090 with the equivalent desktop GPU performance of a 4070 Super.
Laptop GPUs are a marketing scam rip off.
More a 4070Ti Super. 4090 Laptop beats 4070 Super no doubt. But yes...definately not comparable to Desktop 4090
It's also not drawing 300w of power like the desktop one. Do you want a notebook to fry in seconds?
Inb4 TB5 eGPUs, and the REAL unlimited power!!!!! Until then, let's just go with whatever Beau recommends
