- The 2023 Lenovo Legion Pro 7i sports a mild redesign, an Intel Core i9-13900HX CPU and NVIDIA RTX 4070/4080/4090 high watt GPUs. Trend Micro's Premium Security Suite offers complete device and identity protection for up to 10 devices. Check it out here: bit.ly/41BOpKS and use code LISA10 (case sensitive) for 10% off your purchase! As ever, the Legion is a popular gaming laptop thanks to good build quality, sane pricing and strong performance. The 16” QHD+ display is back with a 240Hz refresh rate, and the laptop has per key RGB lighting and a front light bar. Lenovo cut a few corners this year to keep the price down, watch to see if those tradeoffs are worth the cost savings.

I just got the 4080 version and it's a beast! fantastic thermals too. Keyboard keys feel good, all the keys are well placed, not too loud yet very tactile, and full num pad! Got it on sale for $2100. Hard to beat that. Overall build quality is excellent and the screen is very nice. Not much to complain about this one. Lenovo did a fine job. Just a few years ago I would not have even considered a Lenovo but they have won me over.
💯
Does this keyboard flex noticeable when typing? I see a sale on B&H but I really concerned about the keyboard issue.
@@user-wp3ix8tw2y I personally don't notice any flex when typing. the deck is plastic but very sturdy one. Less flex then MSI stealth pro I had and that was magnesium alloy, beit very thin. I really like the keys Lenovo uses too. feels good to type and very precise, with good feedback and travel.
Got the 4090 version for 2199. I'm stoked!
@@joshuam4993 Holy crap dude... congrats!!! That is gonna be an insane gaming gear!
Because you're so relatable and down to Earth with understanding what real people need to know in order to make an educated decision, I value your reviews highly, above the other quality reviewers on RUclips. Thank you for being real.
I ordered mine today. Very excited.
Always great reviews here and I love your shirt!
Fantastic thorough review sprinkled with unique insights! Thank you, this was the cherry on top for my decision to go with this laptop. Please keep up the quality reviews! Well done!
Lisa you are the GOAT. You helped me make a decision on the Alienware 17 R4 back in the day, and now you're helping me again. Thank you for the informative, concise, and educational videos. Thanks again, and cheers!
I've had the 4080 version for a month now and I'm very happy with it.
hey..how much did you get it for?..any regrets buying it?
@@vikramadityareddy1554 I bought it for 29.000 SEK. I have no regrets. I'll start doing some video editing soon and can report on that then. Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 looks and works great. Everyday use is smooth and without complications.
To be honest,
I really don't want to like this laptop for the thickness, size, and the left-aligned trackpad alone lol,
But after extensive market research, I understand why this gaming laptop variant makes sense today.
It's one of the thinnest & the lightest "big boy sized" gaming laptop with the same grunts (HX processor & highest TGP RTX), the most affordable RTX-4080/4090 laptop on the market, near motherboard-level ports sans SD card reader (4x USB 3.1 Gen2, 2x USB-C Gen2 which one of them is a TB4/USB4, an Ethernet albeit 1G, HDMI 2.1, and 3.5mm combo audio port), and 3 years of global warranty. I'll take this anytime. Pretty great keyboard too!
I also like that it does not look like a "gaming" laptop. I can use it for work without people staring at my laptop.
Thank you. Bought the 4080 model and love it.
Lisa = OG non-biased review is vanilla best
Just bought this on sale. Lisa has the best tech reviews.
how is the laptop in longterm gaming sessions?
How is this for photography and digital art?
I’m looking to buy a dell precission laptop 7770 or some what in 7000 series. Can you do the review on that? My primary use of the laptop is Solidworks software.
Subscribed. Most online “reviews” I don’t get the feeling that I am getting reliable no bs or paid for information.
Does the bottom cover has air filters?
Thanks for this video good details on the screen as well. I'm mainly interested in this for motion design/3D and also video/photo work actually and even though it's still $3600 CAD for the 4080 i9 I feel it's too much for any laptop these days. Any thoughts on this for that type of work? I've considered Dell G15 also with i9 12 gen but with 3070Ti as it's just under $2000. Would you say that price jump is worth it or should I save some money and go for the Dell? Thinking also future proof probably 5 year max
what did you end up buying?
I always enjoy your reviews, and you always have such great T-shirts!
Hi!
If I buy that kind of top spec gaming laptop and like to use for video randering and photo editing. This is where we good choice or buying work station with RTX A5000 ?
still to this day Lisa has the best shirts. I have been saying this for years
I love your T-shirt keep it up😉👍
Thanks Much ! Lisa
Got this laptop recently with RTX 4080, very happy with it 🔥
I'm so exicting about the performance and the price of this laptop. BTW does the keyboard flex noticeable when typing?
I have the 40090 version, no the plastic they use on the keyboard deck is very sturdy and I'm glad they used it because it stays SUPER COOL when gaming, contrary to aluminum or magnesium. @@user-wp3ix8tw2y
@@user-wp3ix8tw2yno flex at all, premium feel.
Decided on this unit with the 4080. Had it for a month and very satisfied. Bizarrely, Chrome is basically unusable for general web browsing (fan goes into overdrive and sites freeze constantly). Conversely, Edge goes batty when playing streaming video (green screen effect) but Chrome has no issues. Love the bright screen.
Try disabling chrome hardware (gpu) acceleration, or updating gpu drivers. Unfortunately chrome (and now edge, since it is chromium as well) can be a pita. They will probably fix the issue with the next update.
Firefox is the best anyway
@@Cenot4ph I deeply despise chrome as well.
I still have Legion 5 Pro and have 0 issues after 2 years. RTX 3060, DLSS Auto, Ultra settings, average FPS 63, 2K resolution in Cyberpunk. Screen si big and bright. I don't like its design though, but would not trade it at all with any other brand. Maybe if there would be Starfield edition lol
is the 4080 version with 32 gb ram for 2900 cad a good deal?
R23 run was on battery?
Lisa is who I turn to before I buy new tech.
I use to love the legion systems.
Previously i got Lenovo thinkpad t450s after your review. And i am so in love with the keyboard, and red pointer joystick. Knowing its not there in any other lenovo products is making me sad.
Anyways, currently now i am looking for a gaming laptop (4070/ 4080) i narrowed down to 2 brand. Legion and Alienware.
For 4070, legion pro slim 7i seems more premium feel, but Alienware seems robust and as if it might give better performance, don't know for sure.
For 4080, legion pro 7i vs Alienware m16. M16 is 300usd expensive. And screen is lower nits than Lenovo. What would you suggest?
I do wish if legion pro 7i (4080) had similar build as legion pro slim 7i, all aluminium.
I had a Alienware M18 on order. Canceled that to get the 7i pro with 4080. No regrets. Better screen, faster ram (non XMP), and much cheaper. To me, much better buy. Laptop feels solid as well. one finger open. Has metal where you want it. oh, and non upside down motherboard. I hate that design. With money saved, if I need a bigger screen, I'll get a nice monitor.
wait CR23 only MS 14000 AND SC 1700??? 12700h gets more than 17000
A strange move by Lenovo. Last year we had vapor chamber for every specs of Legion 7. This year we have Standard vs Extreme version for both Pro 5 & Pro 7 series. Only Extreme one get vapor chamber.
What is the effective cooling difference between the two
GPU efficiency is much better, they run so much cooler than last gen. Also, only the 80 and 90 models actually draw more than 100w, instead the 140-165w previously. So vaper chamber makes less sense for those lower specced models from a cost vs gains perspective.
Micro Center has the model with the RTX 4090 on sale for $2800 and the model with RTX 4070 on sale for $1500.
You’re making us Europeans VERY jealous… 😮
For 3K I would expect a decent Adobe color profile.
Thanks for the review. Just an FYI, your laptop does not have Thunderbolt 4 (you can see the lack of Thunderbolt iconography next to the port at the 3 minute mark). Lenovo only includes TB4 on the 4080 and 4090 models.
I just want that shirt omg
Seriously nice looking unit! If I hadn't gotten the razer 16, I woul ddefinitely be looking at this one!
I want to buy that in India
Is it available for here?
I’m considering the blade 16 over this model as the blade 16 appears to be more quiet and cool in balanced mode to compared to other offerings. I’ll be gaming a lot in bed so that’s a huge priority for me.
I'm finally upgrading from a Legion GTX 1060ti to the Pro7i w/ RTX 4080
Thank you, Lisa, for the great review! I truly enjoy mine!
Love the commentary "no port lighting - too bad." Ty for review!
thanks for the video mother.
i upgraded from a Lenovo Legion 5 to a MSI GE76 and it was the best decision i ever made.
do you sell these awesome tshirts you wear in every almost video??
What is with all these totally "organic" avatar-less basic name accounts talking smack about Lenovo on the comments lmao, you can't get any more obvious than this.
@MobileTechReview you should look into that, I'm not even a Lenovo user but this is just hilarious.
Beastie!
You gotta fight for your right to party!
Thanks for this video, i think 7i 2022 has more features and ARGB than the 7i 2023 model, really not sure what Lenovo were deciding on this model
They wanted the price to be a small fortune rather than damn that's pricey.
They try to cut back on some features because of ridiculous prices on the new graphics card. They kept the price competitive compared to other new gaming laptops.
They wanted to distance this from the eyewateringly premium Legion 9i
@@robertkamer1820 when they announced this years 7i, the 9i wasn’t announced, but look at the 9i and wow it is a beast of a laptop
I did not hear an sd card slot, full or otherwise???
There’s no SD card slot. I just use a tiny USB-C SD card reader with mine
Came for the review. Stayed for the awesome shirt!!!
This beautiful laptop lonovo so beautiful lap
Can't wait to see you hit a million subscribers Lisa..
Keep doing what you do..
We love you..🤗🤗🙏
Hi Lisa
what is the RAM on this model? Thanks.
I got mine today with the 4090 but saw the one with the 4080 also. Both have 32GB 5600 RAM
@@gabead You should make that 4090 review that many people in the comments talk about :)
Am I the only one who noticed that at 5:38 the Geekbench score is for a completele different (last year's) model? Same thing for Cinebench as well at 5:43. Why not at least put the REAL scores at the description box? 🤷🏼
Just dropped to 2799.99 on bhphoto.
Lenovo should make the Legion 5 their gaming line and the Legion 7 their content-creation line, with features that cater to those target markets.
12GB/s ssd read speed? Is that for real?
@@paulodamiao5540 Factory raid 0? Not common at all i presume.
@@constantinosschinas4503you will have to get a confirmation from Lisa, but I assume so
@mobiletechreview
Are you making an x12 carbon gen 11 review?
I'm sure Lenovo will get us a review loaner. Hopefully they don't take forever!
So nice mobile
i Just Bought The RTX 4090 Version for $2399
still the best 4080 laptop in 2024
can you prank me by sending me a brand new Legion Pro 7i
Legion don't have updates, I have it, this is second one, but with update and support are very, very bad. I don't know why is like this but I don't like it. Cheers
The laptop is more noisier than the older lenovo legions, the fans even start spinning when leaving my mouse on youtube previews when connected to a 4k 144hz monitor.
Seems to be a bug with chrome
BUT BUT ....WHERES WHITE SHOES 🤷♂🤷♂
I'd buy a gaming Thinkpad if they ever made one.
Check out the T15g Xeon, 4K OLED, 3080, LTE
@@DavidMartinGraff I might be buying a new laptop in the near future
Mayday mayday. I need immediate advice as I have to buy a laptop at earliest!
Options: ROG M16 vs Legion Pro 7i both configured with 4080.
Question: I like M16 personally but I want to run Microsoft flight simulator at max settings.
Can M16, 4080 run MSFS at max settings?
Any 40x0 GPU can, provided you enable DLSS 3.0 frame generation. Flight simulator is not a twitch shooter which needs constant 60+ FPS. Just enjoy the scenery
the biggest problem with lenovo is its quality control and zero after-sales/warranty support. You can pay for the premium "next day premiere support" and wait weeks to get any kind of reply. Lenovo in 2023 is a very different company than it was just 5 years ago, owing to changes in management
buy something else. You can thank me later
They said to me "I don't see it, sorry" when I complained my screen had backlight bleed. And when the laptop went on sale, they told me they would adjust the price per their policy and never did. I complained to the sales rep I initially used and she said "sorry, they moved a lot of our customer service to Asia, they don't want to help." Unbelievable 😂
I always recommend buying a lenovo device from bestbuy and purchasing their protection plans for personal use. They hardly ask any questions and normally swap the devices out if something goes wrong post purchase.
So true! I bought a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 last summer. Not even a year later it refuses to charge; spits out all sorts of error message; screen goes on and off.
The prior Lenovo laptop lasted over four years with no problems.
I called Lenovo about service for my in warranty product and I was transferred endlessly. When they transferred me back to the first area I had contacted over an hour later, I blew up. That agent decided to just transfer me while I was fuming.
This will be my last Lenovo PC.
At the job I quit last month we all had 3,5k euro yogas and at least half of them were faulty out of 50 laptops. And the 5k models were even worse
I have the 2022 legion 5i pro with rtx 3070 ti and I absolutely love it! Got it for a bargain and have zero complaints 6 months in. The legion 7i with rtx 4080 definitely catches my eye for the performance bump but I hate how they have taken features away this year! I would suggest saving money and buying last years model!
Hi Lisa, I'm the proud owner of new legion 7i pro 4070. Got it on 7th of april. It's fantastic with the performance on games that use frame generation like cyberpunk with FPS reaching to late 70's to early 80's with everything ultra and Ray tracing ultra. With the new path tracing, the fps drops by 15-20 fps but it still very very playable and smooth. The issue is with older games like Ghost recon Wildlands and Assassins creed origins where the FPS on all ultra sticks to mid 60's to late 60'sfor some reason (No frame generation here either). Maybe they are older titles thats why. Overall, it's a solid laptop and built like a tank. Highly recommend.
Why is everyone reviewing 4070 or 4080? I really want to see the 4090 performance on this laptop.
Because Lenovo isn't sending out 4090 review loaner units. Why? Dunno.
I agree with you but most people tend to buy the 4070 version.
If one could buy 4090 and review it, I would really appreciate it.
@@DavidMartinGraff that is probably because lenovo sells the cheapest 40 series laptops this year.
@@ThePatrioticOguzYT The Legions have proven to be highly effective in managing throttling and maintaining low thermal levels. Given that the 4090 Mobile GPU performs similarly to a 3090Ti, you should be able to infer and analyze the outcomes accordingly.
Please Please show some budget items.
Everything you show is so expensive. Not everyone can afford to spend $1000.
thanks
Get a job
Every Legion is the same boring stuff
legion 7 2022 is better choice.all metal etc.
The 2023 is all aluminum. I have the pro verison
NO.Plastics-metal.All Metal only Legion 7 2022 and Legion 7 Slim.
Metal isn’t automatically better. Plastic composite made with today’s space age materials is lighter and durable. I’d rather take DLSS3.0 frame generation than an all metal chassis
@@little_fluffy_clouds Ok.1Gb vs 2.5Gb and port lighting and fingerprint reader.
@@romanplacek9425 Yes. None of that’s critical, whereas DLSS 3 support is. Don’t forget this is a gaming laptop.
why most modern laptop come with bullshit 1610 ratio screen?
Better for productivity
because its better
Better for coding and office work.
You realize you get *more* pixels in 16:10 than 16:9 for the same horizontal resolution, right? 1920x1200 is more than 1920x1080. Not to mention, before HD TV became a thing, 16:10 was the *norm* for laptop screens. A lot of us lamented the 16:9 takeover as it meant *less* resolution.
Because 16:10 is the ideal resolution for laptops. 16:9 is meant for televisions
This is totally the "skip it" generation. Laughable gen over gen performance, price creep across the board.
What? The 4090 is basically between 3090 and 3090ti or 4070ti desktop peformance.
Please just do not tell me "lenovo". Lenovo stole my 900 euros. That Lenovo Yoga 2 I bought in The Netherlands for 900 euros and started giving problems since day one. Lenovo support was horrible. They tried to take my money for repairing a faulty product within the warranty period. I did not pay thanks to the help of the Dutch consumer organization Consumentenbond. I could not use that darn Lenovo. Never again.
Grab a Snickers
no issues here in ireland. with a 2k pc.
I had a Lenovo 2 in 1 about three years ago. It was awesome. Never had a problem with it
Lenovo is the synonym for crap products. Waste of money.
@@metegokce697 don’t buy the cheap stuff 🤩
Lenovo? No Thanks. I still remember that famous LENOVO GHOST problem. The touch screen of the laptop would "touch itself". Lenovo produces poorly engineered laptops and Lenovo technical support is even poorer. Hell with them. I bought Dell and they are 100% behind their products!
Nobody should choose lenovo - worst customer service ever and extortionate parts prices
Actuality, my experience has been great.
...man I got this laptop with 4080 and 32gb of ram for less than 2200...you must be a hater
@trilingualkid Hardly. I have one of their laptops and the sales and after service experience has been shockingly poor. I hate them but because of the poor service.
@@SuperPlastered same, had lenovo for more than a decade now, good onsite service
