Meanwhile, here in the real world in Australia I have owned a Model S for almost a year. Running costs have been an extra $20/quarter on my power bill - lost solar feed in. I won't be needing to get it serviced any time soon, the brakes and discs will last 8+ years, the battery has more than 7 years remaining warranty, the whole car has more than three years warranty left, I have never been beaten by anyone who wanted to have a go at the lights, I can merge and pass instantly and silently no matter what, I have more interior space than a full sized SUV, I have double the load space of a full sized SUV and triple that of any other sedan. I haven't been to a petrol station this year, I get free energy whilst parked at my local shopping centre or my favourite nearby restaurants - that's free parking and free 'fuel' while I'm parked. The car has had two performance enhancing software updates since I bought it - so it has gotten better with age - for free.
The Tesla Model S is also the safest car money can buy, I have had no issues doing any of my usual family road trips with regards to range and charging and you know what, the best feature out of all is that I can leave it parked in the hot sun and when I am heading back to the car, turn on the air conditioning with my phone or watch and get into a car cooled to a perfect 21c.

All these comments that start with "IF". If the racecar had a proper driver, if this if that. Well if any of those ifs came true, you could just trot out the fastest Tesla and pants the car again. This one *ISN'T EVEN THE FASTEST TESLA*. This one is 2 year old tech, with insane mode. The fastest ones have Ludicrous mode and are about half a second quicker 0-100. Half a second is basically *forever*. The fast Tesla is as much faster than this one as this one is faster than the petrol car.
@@jobdone4828 "now let's make uranium and coal suppliers mega rich", at least those 'mega rich' live here at home in Australia and they are governed by a democratically elected government.
I'm going to make a few videos of petrol stations to show my kids. He's only 3 and he knows a petrol station when he sees one... but alas, this era is coming to an end. Not abruptly. Not immediately, but slowly but surely the electric era will dominate. In the future, people will drive around in old cars that emit sounds of petrol engines. Perhaps they will vibrate, too. But, pop the hood and you'll find an electric donk in there. Real petrol engines will be few and far between. 50 years from now, if you ever manage to drive your internal combustion engine down the main strip, it will initially be faced with scepticism "Ohh yeah sure, that aint a real internal combustion engine. It's just an electric engine with speakers." Then... you pop the hood and everyone will gasp. It will put a smile on people's faces. Imagine... these engines filled practically every car in the world for a century. The sound was glorious. The ride was mesmerising. It was an amazing time in human history. Such nostalgic imagery would undoubtedly be very selective. We will remember the good and forget the bad. The internal combustion engine, after all is said and done, is a complete and utter hack. It always has been. Through pragmatism and sheer willpower we have made it refined. In the words of Reeves Callaway: "If you think about all the parts required to get something as archaic as the internal combustion engine to work properly, you'd go crazy - the device normally shouldn't work very well. But, after a century of constant evolution it is an example of execution over design." Electric motors? My gosh... so straight forward. So simple it's embarrassing. You see what these first generation Teslas can do? That was nothing. The tech is not even trying. There's not even decent competition in the electric car space yet. But competition IS coming... and when it comes in 2016, 2017, 2020... 2025... my gosh... it won't even be a contest anymore. The electric car's reputation is not going to be made on videos such as this. It's going to be made on the streets. In countless drag races across the world. The traffic light grand prix. One by one, petrol enthusiasts will fall. Confident in their machinery to prevail... and in the seconds after the lights go green watch the brutal stark reality flood over their gaze. That's not to say that there isn't something awesome about internal combustion engines. They will be sorely missed. Many will become collectors items... but don't try and pit them against the new stuff. It's a battle that seems neck and neck at the moment - but as time goes on it's just going to get silly. There is more to love about internal combustion than speed. There is no shame in admitting a quicker and more powerful tech that is transitioning our personal mode of terrestrial transport. You got something special to share your kids and your grand kids when all this ALL THIS people... is gone. You have a special place in history. You got to drive internal combustion engined vehicles. Be proud of that. Remember that.
I love v8s and I own one as well. I think in the future petrol powered engines will only be available for cars aimed at enthusiasts and electric motors will inherit the roads. But it's not all bad, that tesla looks dynamite.
Those who say _"Ohh it's not the same feeling, not the same whine"_ is akin to some old fella saying they miss the whine of their horse with the carriage :D :D Yeah technology is tearing down petrol motors, accept it. - On a race track, performance matters - acceleration and speed. The car delivers. Garages don't care about high rpm sounds. - For governments etc, low pollution matters. The car delivers. - For normal people, efficiency and quietness matter (on top of all above). The car delivers. This technology will only improve, but surely take over everything in no time. You are still allowed to whip out your old petrol engine car and take it for a ride, people will reminisce indeed with "awww" smiles on how undeveloped we were. It will make nice humbling moments.
+Roxy B True, but technology will only improve, that is guaranteed, battery life-wise. Not only that, but just like we have petrol stations (as your regular car also can't run infinite kms), we'll have recharge stations that may not take hours like it does now :) I had also read ideas about roads that recharge the car from beneath, on the go - i.e. for buses on bus lanes it's a viable plan and research area. At the rate technology evolves (and has evolved), it would be really surprising if in 50 years' time we'd still use petrol engines and see this as an abandoned idea (which, already worked)
+Roxy B By overnight recharge do you mean 20 minute recharges? Because that's what Tesla owners have access to. Not to me mention over 400km range every morning. You might want to get some more facts.
+Roxy B "normal" people don't do more than 500km in a day. I don't know if you have seen the range of a normal car with a normal tank of petrol the average is around 600km. I'd take an overnight charge that costs $5 over a $80 fuel bill every second day in your "normal" scenario any day. I'd also like to point out that and electricity power point is more readily available and convenient then going to a petrol station Roxy B is just disappointed that in the near future they won't be able to compensate for having no brains and a shit life with annoying others by excessively revving their engine.
Ironically the "supercar" is still cheaper than the tesla in Australia. Even the "budget" model 3 tesla is like 90,000 aud and way more for sport mode or whatever they call it. Also on an actual Australia open highway rally, the holden would easily win....because the tesla would run out of charge...
Actually I don't think so. Electric cars are not that great of racing cars. Instant torque sure but max speed is pretty hard to keep up because the motors would overheat.
A Tesla car on a runway alongside a jet aircraft? No-one would be that crazy! Well, except maybe the US Air Force: ruclips.net/video/xZ6hwzGs8O0/видео.htmlm53s
It's funny that you can take a really comfortable sedan and race the lights against a nicely equipped Corvette or some other sports car and have reasonable expectations of winning, especially if you've opted for the Ludicrous Speed option on yours Tesla.
@@EattingMeatSince82 Its funny seeing people (not you, other people) complain about how you should get the Tesla on the track etc and then see how it compares. I think people don't realise is the V8 is far superior its just instant power at wheels does wonders for electric vehicles

Everyone! Look up 1320s video of the Telsla trolling the streets. I love my Holden V8s, but these electric cars are very, very capable. Good video. Also, keep in mind muscle cars are more known for top speed, not acceleration. The Tesla has great top speed and lightning acceleration.
To be fair and balanced, also look up tesla sets fire to itself in Carpark. And btw, muscle cars are known for acceleration, not top speed- that's why quarter mile times are the main talking point of performance. Supercars are all about top speed like the XJ220 Jag, F50 Ferrari, Bugatti veyron etc.
@@hjm2062 Try driving one. You might want to revise your opinion. Most of the Tesla drivers I've seen have a grin from ear to ear. So your words suggest that they must be really bored with their car? Hmm....
@@lastpally I think the point that he was trying to make is the Tesla is a 4 door sedan family car and street legal. The V8 is yes technically a 4 door sedan its still a supercar, meaning a Tesla isn't built to be on a track. Its not even built to be the best 0-60 times etc. It has quick 0-60 times because it's electric. And lets be honest every single person knows that a V8 supercar is far superior in speed, cornering and kind of everything to do with racing no questions asked. Just the Tesla is quick off the mark
A Golf with a diesel would kill the Tesla after three laps or so, but no fanboys want to see that. You would need some serious hardware to catch it in a straight line, but it's way too heavy and limited for some twisty turns.
+beernutsonline A golf with a diesel would not even be in the race. What is it, 0-100 in 10 seconds? Sorry 8.2 seconds. It's still good for an average car, but not like this Tesla that is about to take off.
+Peter Stone The Tesla is an impressive machine, but will go into protective mode pretty fast. It's not designed for that power output over time. But for a lap or two, it's pretty fast! :) No wonder it sells as good as it does in Norway, it has the same price as an A6 or E-class Merc thanks to insane tax rules!
Why are people butthurt about electric motors? Electric motors were ALWAYS more powerful than anything combustion powered. It's only a matter of time before they make them even more insane
@@jaquaviancumpster9493 kinda, but not really. The Rimac is absolutely amazing but is priced more than my house in Sydney, in fact at $US2.4M I'd have to sell all of my properties just to buy one. The Plaid+ however is $AU250k even with the LCT.
A lot of people are complaining about the comparison..... I wonder what the comments would be if this video came out in 10 or 20 years time? Don't get me wrong..... I love the sound and smell of a hot V8 petrol monster... You can't deny that electric cars are quick!!!
Incredible performance from the Tesla. We should all be driving electric cars, you have to wonder the health effects of living next to a busy main road or a indoor car park with a heap of cars idling. It gives you a bad headache. With performance like that, I hope electric cars become the norm.
Why is it you only seem to see Teslas in a straight line drag race. When they say worlds fastest 4 door, is this top speed or over a given distance to to a specific speed?
0-60(or 0-100) is where it gets that title. Because of its instant torque it smashes gas cars, but top speed it falls flat on its face. The Alpina B7 and Dodge Charger Hellcats are examples of cars that would smoke a Tesla in top speed. I feel "the worlds fastest sedan" title should go to the car with the fastest top speed, not acceleration.
+tantan tan Next GTR would be a hybrid. Something in the region of a 918. Unless hybrid tech is not viable anymore then it would be full electric. Tesla should have a Mr Fusion running by then.
This didn't surprise me a bit. I drive locomotives and I can tell you that in railway world, an electric locomotive will out accelerate a diesel with twice the horsepower. Take a NSWGR 46 class with 3,400 (starting) hp and weighing 120 tons and no train behind. Stand behind the driver's seat and smash the throttle. It will throw you against the rear wall of the cab so hard and until she tops out, you can't get off the wall or even tilt your head forward. We used to do that for fun whenever the opportunity presented itself (sadly, not often). A bit like riding the Rotor at Luna Park, but in a straight line. Whether it's a locomotive or a car, nothing beats electric.
The compulsory stops to recharge might save some lives. It'll definitely reduce the amount of people driving fatigued. Put some money back into regional towns. I personally want an EV asap because refueling makes me feel sick and I can't stand sucking down exhaust fumes
Excuses. Electric is the way to go. Imagine what I could fit in the Tesla if I could spend $1 million in it, which is what the V8 is worth. Would put that supercar to shame.
+Abderraouf Adjal Yeah.. In my head I converted 5,000 pounds to 5 ton (because I'm used to the base-10 found in the metric system!) 2.268 tonne sounds right.
Just to show you how fast the Tesla is, this car wasn't even in Ludicrous Mode which is even faster (about .4 of a second faster to 100kmh). This car was just in Insane Mode. And what skews the results even more is that the Tesla can get these results by any moron who can push their foot down when the light turns green. The race car needed a professional race car drivers to time the shifts correctly and make sure the tires don't spin at the start. It takes a LOT more skill to get great times in a manual car. The times Road & Track or Car & Driver or Motor Trend get when testing exotic vehicles are by highly skilled drivers. The average Joe won't match those times if he drives the car. But with the Tesla it doesn't really matter what your skill level is. ANYONE (even Grandmas) can get the same time as a skilled race car driver. Bravo Tesla (can you tell I'm a shareholder)!!!
The one who stripped his P85D to save weight? He was trolling people with Dodge Hellcats at the drag strip, funny as, he knows though Teslas will get smoked in a long range drag race so he sticks to 1/4 Mile races.
I guess if you'd hook up 15-20 Tesla home batteries that you loaded up at home, sequentially after you ran out of battery with the Tesla, you could, technically, do Lisbon - Moskou in 25 hours, if you'd allow the P100D to drive between 300-480 on highways in Spain, France, Belgium, Germany, Poland and Russia. That would be a nice stunt, I'd volunteer for! Just beef up Ludricous mode to 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' mode, of course.
Steam got canned by the oil companies just as electric cars did, however with modern technology steam has all the advantages of ev's but with the bonus of fuelling up faster and no toxic batteries to deal with. Bring on steam cars!

+Matthew Baird It would be awesome if future Teslas have roofs that are solar so that the car will always be cooled no matter where you parked it. Just like some Maybachs.
+Matthew Baird Sold man I want 1. You forgot no oil leaks...
ut2k4wikichici you're just full of nice things to say.

That video was hilarious. I really enjoyed it. Great humor and informative.
Thanks!
It's just an electric engine with speakers."
Then... you pop the hood and everyone will gasp.
But, after a century of constant evolution it is an example of execution over design."
Electric motors? My gosh... so straight forward.
But can it do corners or bends whilst being powerd by coal?
I'd like to see a track race with all three
I love v8s and I own one as well. I think in the future petrol powered engines will only be available for cars aimed at enthusiasts and electric motors will inherit the roads. But it's not all bad, that tesla looks dynamite.
Those who say _"Ohh it's not the same feeling, not the same whine"_ is akin to some old fella saying they miss the whine of their horse with the carriage :D :D
Yeah technology is tearing down petrol motors, accept it.
Not only that, but just like we have petrol stations (as your regular car also can't run infinite kms), we'll have recharge stations that may not take hours like it does now :)
I had also read ideas about roads that recharge the car from beneath, on the go - i.e. for buses on bus lanes it's a viable plan and research area.
At the rate technology evolves (and has evolved), it would be really surprising if in 50 years' time we'd still use petrol engines and see this as an abandoned idea (which, already worked)
+GaborBartal Plenty of whining coming from the owners of fossil cars too.
+Roxy B GO CRY ME A RIVER......
I'd also like to point out that and electricity power point is more readily available and convenient then going to a petrol station
Roxy B is just disappointed that in the near future they won't be able to compensate for having no brains and a shit life with annoying others by excessively revving their engine.

That weird, where are the GTR fanboys?
+tantan tan I killed them, cuz they're too busy taking too much dick up their ass.

Now give them a lap around the track and let's see who comes in first
