@Shallex lmao I'm just vibing, and I dont look for you in the comments I just happen to find you every once in a while, one of thr first times I replied to you I told I would keep finding you in comment sections until the day I die
Watching these guys interact in the studio and being able to witness their writing process shows the obscene amount of talent they really have. Haters be gone! These guys are masters of their craft.
Gives him a chance to feel it with a guitar on or practice the riff while singing to get it down. But if you watch the Hardwired stuff he is sometimes doing it with no strings on the guitar. Just a comfort thing I guess
Being a musician is one of the best things you can do man.. i swear if you put alot of effort into making a song... it'll last for ages and ages and nobody's ever gonna forget that song... that's really something to strive for
Love watching these guys making magic. Best scene 0:50, Lars and Rob all smiles as James and Kirk play synchronized. It’s like two singers harmonizing, it’s so beautiful🥲🥲🥲🥲. I effing love this SONG! James sings it so amazing. His voice has becomes so seasoned. This song is like Fade to Black, immediately you close your eyes and your sucked in. That’s what I love about their not softer but but more melodic music. I’m an R&B/Soul/HipHop/House Music/Acid Jazz/Hard Rock head lol, all these genre ms have melodies in their music, just closing the eyes and listening with big headphones. Effing best man.
6:13 i love this , that honestly is a great theoretical framework to build your composition theory around, especially in metal. Lars in the studio is invaluable IMO
For me "The Day That Never Comes" is the best ever Metallica song. "Master of Puppets" is still the best album but TDTNC set a new level in Metal music. And I think this level is unreachable for years like MOP was until now.
the thing thats so great about death magnetic is that it combines the load a reload bluesy type stuff with and justice for all aggression and riffs and master of puppets speed
I could never pick a favorite Metallica song, but this one will always be up there in my list. Good mix of slow melodies and heavy fast rhythms and solos. And I can also relate with the lyrics a lot.
It's quite amazing seeing what stayed and didn't stay... they should SO make a special CD or something of like outtakes. Metallica amazes me time and time again. \m/
I am editing a version of this song, that has the sound clip at 7:41 behind it, I LOVE that sound james makes. How ANYONE can think they are ''In it for the money'', obviously doesnt watch this stuff, They want to experiment, and have fun creating their music
Man, I love these clips!!!! It would be so cool to record an album. Also, I love the relaxed atmosphere they have going in the studio. Also...man what a guitar collection!!!!! It must be nice to have the cash they have to be able to get all of those bad ass guitars.
You can hear it on the justice boxset, from James riff tape to pre production to final recording. But yeah it would be the best thing in the world to have footage of the justice sessions.
I know this is a bold statement. I think this is the best song they ever did. And yes, I'm very very familiar with their catalog. And, no I don't do drugs. This song was Kirk's finest moment. Played his ass off.
Depois do St. Anger, eu achava que o próximo album seria ruim. O Death magnetic foi com certeza, um ótimo album. O Metallica voltou às raízes nesse album.
@facktoor9320 Think its part of reviving Metallica's tradition... since a lot of fans seemed to disconnect with metallica when St. Anger came out. Metallica's old logo is back, the first track starts off with clean guitar intro and later distorted, the fourth track starts off light and becomes heavier, and there's a long instrumental at the end of the album. 2,3,4 and this album all have that in common
@domanick189 that is because its one of their four songs that do exactly that the other songs are, in album order "fade to black", "sanitarium", "one" and "the day that never comes"
@i8yoursandwich yes you are right, and now ESP has the "Kirk Hammet" model guitar, it's a bit pricey but it is an all-black strat-syle body, with all the bells and whistles that he usually plays with (pickups, and I think some even have the skull-and-crossbones markings between the frets). I like the reverse HS as well, great guitars. Hell, these guys always play kick-ass guitars!
@Sabu71495 No they didn't want to call it casper :P that was only the working title instead of track1,2,3,4 etc.. it was called casper because it uses a jam recorded in Casper Wyoming.

@domanick189 some call this part to of one kickass song cant wait for their next album since they came back with death magnetic after not so great of a few albums this next albums has me on my toes
as the other guy said you're wrong. and no they don't need to start drinking again. the band is good they way it is right now. this album is one of the best. if you don't like it, don't listen to it. and I am happy they fired Dave. because instead of just one epic band, when firing Dave we got 2 epic bands.
09:43
"Do you have an idea James?"
"THE DAY THAT NEVER COOOOOOOOMES'AAAA".
9:43
yeah
Imagine making of: Master of Puppets or Ride the Lightning. I'd do almost anything to see that!
I don’t think it was recorded
TP0 Ember that’s why he said *Imagine*
I think there is about 50 seconds from studio while recording RTL
Wonder if this guy thought people would be replying to his comment 12 years later
It would be mostly James and Lars getting drunk and writing songs, I'd pay anything to see their creative process back then
For me one of the greattest Metallica's sogns ever man!!!
Agreed man in love with metallica listening this song!
Absolutely man, beautiful in every aspect.
one of the best metal songs, if not the best in the last ten years IMO
It's amazing!
Agreed.
Bazzo Smyth you need to hear waaaaaay more bands
@The All Rounder 2 they are definitely smoking crack
The All Rounder 2 SHRVEKAIEBTHFIEKEBTORJRO. Aaaaaahahahahahaaaaaa. Dudkwnebdisnwkeofhe. Sorry, I was just doing Canibal corpse impression
2:10 James on kirk's guitar :D
How is it possible?
Kirk çalamayınca james ben çalayım sen konsere kadar ögrenirsin demiş
@Shallex hey shallex found you again
@Shallex lmao I'm just vibing, and I dont look for you in the comments I just happen to find you every once in a while, one of thr first times I replied to you I told I would keep finding you in comment sections until the day I die
Wait thats illegal
3:17 one of the best clean riffs ever
Gives me chills every time
Its not a riff

good to see they were having fun with the harmony part

It's why there the greatest!! The attention to detail is amazing.
This song is very special! Perfect performance!
Yeah, they recorded it here
8:55 james sings it different and it's awesome. I love hetfield's voice so much.

Dang that sounds better
4:12 Justice's era vocals
It still lurks somewhere in there.
Jeez you’re not wrong
No 😂
i LOVE that james wears his guitar when he does vocals now.
Give's himself a feel of he actually playing the song while singing, just like he does
Gives him a chance to feel it with a guitar on or practice the riff while singing to get it down.

The beginning of this song is so soft, it just keeps growing and never really climaxes, like Stairway...Masterpeice
THANK YOU METALLICA FOR ANOTHER AWESOME SONG!! YOU ARE TRULY A CLASS ALL YOUR OWN!!

Maybe he meant "The day that never comesah"?
day that never comes is one pt.2 when I listen to it
2:07 James plays on Kirks guitar.
This album just keeps getting better over time. Especially now after hearing hardwired. I'd kill to hear a death magnetic #2
Death magnetic is up there with the first 4 records, songwriting wise it's on par with and justice for all in my opinion
@@Taylor-ou7xp That's true. Hardwired is cool but Death Magnetic feels like AJFA Part 2 for me - in 1990 it would be best trash album ever done

One of the better metallica songs that actually sounds fairly metallica. Like the justice
1:16 Priceless kirk hammett. Struck gold :)

im absolutely fascinated to see them discussing the evolution of the song as they play and refine it. wow.
this is one of kirks hardest solo,s i have a hard time with this one
Yeah Kirk has a fast right hand
one of my favourite solos of all time
Wow, the first riff of The Day sounds awesome.
I remember when this song first came out… now it’s 2021….
James is a fucking animal. i love it
It's like And Justice For All meets The Black Album ♥️
Absolutely there most progressive album since justice.
6:44 Paranormal Activity
???
+Silvano Schwetscher
probably means the table behind James
yeah exactly, but now I see the woman sitting behind it pushed it

wow they had so many great ideas for this, I like the version that came out though. James' voice kicks ass
The best song on the album for me
James my idol he's the man !!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS SONG❤
such range with vocals with that dude god i wish i had that good of a voice
It's cool seeing how they make their songs come together from a string of ideas. Metallica's still got it.
My favorite Metallica's song ever!!!
@ChocolateTundra Wow, I've just been......thunderstruck!!!! Awesome catch
They look SOO much happier than in Some Kinda Monster... Good to see... Great band!
thumbs up, if the sound at 07:40 sounds amazing to you!
One of my favorites of all times!!
@domanick189 i agree, when i first heard it, it took me back to the justice album...
hugs my friend, from Argentina
@thedork649 It's a talk box, I'm not sure exactly how the technology works but when you sing into it, it distorts the sound of the guitar
i would love to see "The Making of One," it would be awesome.
Making of Justice!! Only audio demos r there. They did video demo making from Black album : (
You can hear it on the justice boxset, from James riff tape to pre production to final recording.
But yeah it would be the best thing in the world to have footage of the justice sessions.
its cool to see their songs progress, to see what is and isn't on the record. i love watching the making of stuff
So epic watching this song come together.
A great song.....I like it a lot! One of the reasons I got that album.
They are the people that make the album what it is. Producers, studio techs, managers etc. I will hopefully be doing this for a career after uni
I know this is a bold statement. I think this is the best song they ever did. And yes, I'm very very familiar with their catalog. And, no I don't do drugs. This song was Kirk's finest moment. Played his ass off.

i like watching studio vids of bands. really interesting
My favorite Metallica song.
The greatest group, ok one of the greatest. James is the man.
Los mejores haciendo magia... AGUANTE METALLICA LOS REYES DEL METAL!!!!
it may seem like alot, but from my experience, its rewarding, and actually alot of fun to write songs
Man how does kirk make such great solos!!!!
i totally agree with u i mean kirk n james can both play circles around me n probably always will
I love the solo at the end its so epic
ProTools have become a dream come true for studio musicians.
7:35 if that sound would stay in the song it would be AWESOME
I wish I could watch these live 24/7 like the Big Brother show...
@udontcanseeme Se llama un Talk-Box, es un tubo que se conecta a un pedal que genera un sonido. El sonido se modifica por los movimientos de la boca.
i just saw them live yesterday in buffalo, he sings sounds amazing dude.
