    It is my opinion that the wrench you used to remove the sensor from the old filter was not nearly large enough ☺

    Just changed my fuel filters following these steps and noticed about a 30% decrease in MPG develop over about 100 miles of driving. I’ve checked and can’t find any leaks around the filters. Any other reasons this would happen from changing fuel filters?

      The dealer price for this 20 minute job is a complete rip off. Why they want $200 for the filters at their parts counter when they are 1/2 that price on Amazon is a mystery to me.

    I just changed mine in my 2015 2500. The neck of the filter is more narrow at the bottom by the sensor and I was able to get a oil filter clamp around the filter after I disconnected the plug. I used the same wrench to hold the filter while I removed the sensor with Channel Lock pliers. I did clean the plug with contact cleaner before reassembly( we don't live in California and it was covered in Rust Proofing). All went back together fairly easily and I would say this was a 30 minute job. Leak check at the end and I needed to reset the Engine light. One more job done. Oh yah, I talked to the original owner and this filter was never changed. 171,000 kms on the truck.

    Hey, thanks for the video. What size is the tubing you used for draining the rear filter?

    • @WhiskeyAndLead
      @WhiskeyAndLead 7 лет назад +11

      If anyone else wonders, the fuel/water (rear) filter drain uses a 3/8" ID tube. If you want to extend the one on the front either replace it entirely with new 1/2" ID tubing or use a piece of 3/4" ID tubing slid over the end of it to temporarily extend it into a drain pain or bottle. An old piece of garden hose cut to fit works just fine.

    Thanks for the great video gentlemen!!! I purchased my first Diesel last year, a 2017 Ram Laramie 3500 single axle. I was very hesitant at first but know I absolutely love it!!! I took it in for the first oil change around 13k and according to the computer it still had about 20% more life in it. I have read where the recommended life is approximately 12,500 miles between oil changes. The local dealership insists on changing the oil every 5k miles. But of course the collect 3X as much $$$ by recommending this.
    They also checked my Fuel Filter gauge which was reading 10% life remaining and recommended charging me $300 to replace them. What a Gimmick!!! Heck I would change these two filters myself all day long at $300 for the pair!!! I could easily do 3-4 pair per hour!
    A quick run up to Autozone this morning and I picked up both required filters for $90 plus tax. It took me an hour to change the filters. This was including the time it took me to gather the tools required, watch your video (basically twice) and read all the comments. Complete piece of cake. The only issue was spilling a little diesel fuel in the process.
    I really appreciate you taking the time to walk us through this, it made the process super simple.
    The Dealerships are ripping the customers off, they should be ashamed!!! I am tired of taking my vehicles to the dealerships.
    The last time I took in a 2014 Pathfinder, the dealership came up with $2000 in repairs, $300 just because the battery had some corrosion on it. I purchased all of the required parts from autozone and replaced them all myself for less than $300. I also took in my 2005 Dodge Ram 1500 for the airbag recall. When I left I had a quote for “needed repairs” totaling $4500. Funny thing is the dealership didn’t even want to give me $4500 for trade in when I purchased the new truck. The quote even recommended 3 new tires even though the current tires have over 50% tread left on them compared to the brand new 4th tire that had just been put on the day before I dropped the truck off. Again Autozone and less than $500 later I have all the necessary parts to do all of the repairs myself. Not to mention I’m 100% positive that once I would have paid the dealership the $4500 for the repairs, I would have left with another quote of “needed repairs” for another several thousand dollars.
    These charges by the dealerships are uncalled for and they are just taking advantage of unexpecting customers.
    Thanks again for sharing and empowering the general public to take things into their own hands. Keep up the great work!

    Before you install the o rings on both filters , do you need to lube them with oil or diesel fuel?

    • @walterk1221
      @walterk1221 4 года назад +1

      @Mark Ray thank you for pointing the fact numerous errors were shown! Number 1: *use a strap wrench to remove the rear filter not a water pump plier on the WIF sensor* Number 2: *lube the o-rings* Number 3: *use the correct 28 mm socket on the underhood filter housing cover* Number 4: *use a torque wrench to tighten the filter housing cover* (the proper torque value is molded into the housing cover)
      Lisle makes the proper wrench for the WIF sensor by the way!

    • @KDYaker

      You still have to prime it. With a push button start just don’t step on the break pedal when you push the button and it will go to accessory then press again and it will go to run without starting. I did that 4 times and it didn’t turn over do I did it two more times and started right up.
