    Good video. Saved some money doing the service myself from this video. Both fuel filter housings were over tightened and difficult to get off. Don’t over torque them reinstalling. I used Doc’s fuel and oil filters. The rear fuel filter did not drain completely with the drain plug open and spilled when I removed the housing. I had a drain pan ready. I also used a gallon ziploc bag to put the used oil filter in before removing and was able to maneuver it without spilling. There’s no way to drop it vertically without removing components underneath the truck. Took all the used parts and oil to Autozone for disposal. They took everything except the fuel. Which I then put into my emergency fuel can. Total cost ~$300 not including my time (~2 hours).

    Good video and great tips. I like to open oil cap (vent) before pulling drain plug and also pulling oil filter off with plug still open to let excess oil drain. But very helpful thanks man! 👍

    Hey man great video. The oil filter cap is a must and it’s a cheap part to get on Amazon. Just did my truck today and I will say that when I put the new oil filter on I did it from up top to better see what I was doing. Just had to take the pipe off from air box to turbo. Did it hand tight and then a quarter turn with filter wrench thru wheel well 😅

    Very nice video! You covered most items and did a great job!!
    My only pet peeve would be to PLEASE use a torque wrench for the fuel filters ( I think they're 28 mm) and on the oil drain plug ( if memory serves 27 ft/lbs?)
    Also, the oil drain plug is not an exact fit for 3/8's drive extensions, they actually make exact fit square drive plug tools (SnapOn, Mac, etc) ... Should someone overtighten these components, you will have a bear of a time extracting ... using easy outs and barrel extractors, while not getting paid for your skillset.
    Ask me how I know... "Good and Tight" don't work in todays world any longer, not with micro precision engineering.
    Also don't forget to change the drain plug gasket or copper. (Can't remember on this model)
    Otherwise GREAT job and Thank You!!

      @duckwacker8720 Месяц назад

      You don't need a torque wrench .

      Cummins has never had a replaceable drain plug gasket. It's a over molded rubber gasket. You also don't need a "special" tool for the drain plug. I've worked on 1000's of 5.9 and 6.7 Cummins and have never needed a special tool for the plug. Even if they're really tight and worn out.

    if you take the intake hose from the air filter to the turbo off you will then be able to unscrew and lift the filter off from the top just a tip to not make a mess on that pretty truck i love ram they are great trucks and that's why i drive em

      Its fine to Pre-Fill the filter. The Engine gets oil to bearings and other wear surfaces quicker. Any "worry of Contaminates" is negligible as most contaminates are too small to cause damage or it will be Suspended by the oil ,then filtered within in seconds.
