@yaya_8361 it doesn't change anything in the story whether you win or lose the first Blitzball match. But if you win you do get a Strength Sphere which is pretty great at that level

I have tried playing this minigame many many times over the years and always struggled. This is the first strategy that worked with the idea of hiding behind the goalie. Thank you!

Oh MY God!! I CANNOT STAND THIS!! I just want to win the first match! I had an amazing session going until this DAMM BLITZBALL!! I swear I am a relatively intelligent human with more than enough understanding of math. It's the sheer randomness of it! And not being able to control your defenders is maddening! 2.5 hours... I reaaaallly want to continue the game but I'm doing this run as a more completionist mentality, as I already finished the game many times in my youth.... I need some words of encouragement... i REALLY don't want to give up!!

As great of a walkthrough this is, my game just doesn’t let any of this work. Few years ago I tried to get through this, and almost 3 days of restarting, I just gave up. Been trying to do this tonight, and i can’t even get Tidus anywhere near the goal before I’m surrounded by 3 other players. It’s unbelievable. I used to beat them 5-0 on the OG game, but this remaster just won’t even let anything happen. The fake I’ve had situations where I can’t even get the ball or even press a button and get 3 points against me is just absurd. I have no idea what the hell is even happening anymore,

Scored twice with Tidus, then Jecht Shot the next round. But the Game Designers are jerks for making the very FIRST Blitzball game this hard and unfair.

You have the worst team, against the best team, so obviously they will crush you if you have no ability or Jecht shot. But the best part is that when you lose to them, you want revenge and try the blitzball games later with more head on it.
@@rafaeldasilvaromero3362 Not at all. When most people lose after having them be a-holes to you, they felt discouraged and never wanted to go back to blitzball. At the very least, Tidus should have been higher leveled.

The early stage is the hardest part, but the moment you rack up experience and recruit more players blitzball can be fun and engaging even without using the jecht shot, Brother is a great asset he is a powerhouse
Yea Brother is great, especially if you jist want to get Wakkas celestial weapon, you can reset and sign him every time
This was solid advice. I failed my first attempt, watched this video, and then won my second attempt, 1-0. It took me until the second half to actually realize I could pass/shoot at any time. Whoops.
Anyway, I actually, dare I say, enjoyed blitzball. I hated it when I played FFX on the PS2 all those years ago. So good on you for helping me enjoy it! 😁
Awesome. Honestly this blitzball game is one of my favorite parts of the game (even back when I couldn't beat it) I played it so much it's easy.
I keep a file saved right before it to play it any time or start the story from there for a new playthrough
I didn't even know that there was a Tidus cut scene during the game. All I did was kept it 2-0 and played keep away till I won.
Yup, have to score 4 with tidus to see it. That technique works to win. Basically I made this so people could score enough to see the cutscene
@@KingpenGames You know what's funny? The first time I beat the Goers back on the PS2, I didn't even know you can go manual so I pretty much made it more difficult than necessary. Now imagine how many times I hit reset? LOOOOL

Tidus having a shocker. Rather than doing the Jecht shot, he tried to ride a tackle to pull off a normal shot - but ended up losing possession. Nightmare.
So Wakka comes on late in the second half... he uses the venom shot to score the equaliser and forces the game into overtime...
Deep into overtime, and using this strat, Jassu drew Wakka's defender to put him through on goal. He charges another unchallenged venom shot and scores the winner!
What a way to bow out.

Couldn't really pull it off this way, but your advice definitely helped me beat it on my third attempt. This is my first time playing FFX and I had to get the win for wakka. I ended up winning 2-1 by tidus scoring and then passing it off to waka for the second goal. Thanks for the video and the tips.

After years of trying I finally did thank you my guy this was actually helpful
My first try on that match ended with a 2-1 loss, the only point made by Tidus Jetch shot.
My second attempt a time later and after regaining some practice with later matches, I won... 5-4.
Honestly, thanks to you I realized Tidus initial shot and resistance is enought to take on one defensor and score in front of the goal, so I decided to be aggresive, but I didn't though the Luca Goers would be aggresive too this time, cause they did basically the same strat: the middle passes to the ace and the ace scores no matter what. I ended first half losing 2-3, scored right after, then Botts managed to break Albus and pass to Tidus, he used Jetch shot cause he was surrounded and I wanted to get the point no matter what, winning 4-3 when Wakka came in, they scored cause 11 rst Wakka can't take a 10 atk tackle, but he scored with Poison shot when there was only 20 seconds left so the win was basically assured. In the end, that could be the best match I ever had, or at least the best I can remember, cause their numbers were definitely bigger than mine, but was luck and strat(if you can consider Jetch Shot as a strat) what game me victory this time.
Anyways, thanks for the advices. Learning to remember who is who and follow the arrows in the little map seems difficult and tricky, but is crucial.
I hope you recorded that because 5-4 is a crazy score for that game lol. I would love to see it
The first time I ever played ffx I won the tournament, in atleast half a dozen playthroughs since I havnt won a game ( in the mandatory story games ) always recruit and play later tho for obvious reasons.

I've noticed that the player stats are somewhat randomized. Sometimes none of my teams' blocks are high enough, other times nobody's endurance can withstand a tackle from the opposing team, it's almost a gamble when playing this in all honesty so the opportunities to win this match are EXTREMELY slim sadly 😔
Yup, there's a random number generator. You start with a base stat, but the random number generator changes it. It can stay the same or go up or down. Its worse than usual in this game too

I swear they patched this. When I was getting Wakka's celestial parts they kept coming to the goal and taking the ball. I was pissed cause it stops the time

I am trying the strategy, but the other team keeps starting with the ball.
If they start with it, you should still be able to win with this, it'll just be hard to set it back up, I'd suggest if you get the ball from them, go back to your goalie to cause a glitch and they will spin in circles, when you move forward they will go back to their original positions

@@KingpenGames i think mostly they was like 3 or 4 swims when i was behind the goal keeper but i did finally win i think switch don't have barriers so glitches work one most things won't work as well on switch but did take me like 9hours XD and 100+resets with over time ending in 1-0befor reset tho i did it finally XD thanks to waka and ur tip on that

When I first played this game (when it came out) I lost 1-0 and figured that was the nature of the game. When I played through a 2nd time... I won... and since then I figure, well if you can win it you might as well win it every time you play.

I had terrible RNG the entire 5 times I attempted this. The only time I started with the ball was on my 3rd attempt, and even then I lost in overtime. I went to OT all 5 times. It's sad because I actually like blitzball but I needed a refresher to remember the basics and it was frustratingly hard on the Nintendo Switch.
Yea a hard reset might help restart the RNG

Five for five the Goers won the blitz off,and start of round with Wakka the guy with like 10 attack and 13 shoot was instantly in my backfield and never left. Barely managed a 2-1 victory though using this method
Basically, pass the ball to Tidus, get close and try to score, and eventually, pass to Datto when it is possible, because he can break tackle better then anybody, am I missing something?

Yea for the most part players are programmed to stay in a certain area depending on the play so they swim in circles to make it look like they're moving

Yea the RNG is wild in this game. But thats why its best not to even get into a tackle situation unless you're up
I dunno what type of game you guys are playing but my version of it my team does not have ANY defense and the just spin around in the same location where they stand, not to mention the AI computer plays overly aggressive and they always score more than one SMH I have no idea why this videos AI seems so much more relaxed than mine
There are random spots on the sphere pool that makes them spin in circles, it's pretty stupid. Switching your defense up can help with that

I stumbled across this because I couldn’t beat them when I first played this which was when it first came out. I wasn’t able to do the Jecht shot but did manage to score 2 goals with Tidus before Wakka came in. I wasn’t able to score with Wakka but held on to a 2-1 lead as the time ran out.
It's all about the win! Did you keep a save file before the game in case you want to play it again?
Lol I am playing the original PS2 version and had no luck with any of this for some reason. I ended up in a tie game 1 to 1... Then in the sudden death overtime I just immediately passed it to Wakka when he was open and did the Venom Shot from half court and scored so I won anyway haha.

If you really want to cheese, just score one goal so you're ahead of the Goers, then get the ball and swim back to your goal. The Goers team will stop chasing you and do nothing to get the ball back and you can just run out the time.
The goalie trick usually works but for reason when I do it, they immediately all attack me

I once stayed up until 4 trying to beat them
So I’ve been at this 11~ times. Got scored on since RNG made my attacks useless (10 Attack was made 7). Been doing this just about every time. If there’s no edit on my update, it’ll be because I never passed it ever. Edit: I...well I finally did it. Took about 14~ minutes after this comment I think. For sure I had to reset a couple of times more but I lost count. I can not express my gratitude for this video ~~besides a like~~. Thank you.

You can always try scoring 1 goal and then hide behind your goal keeper and let the time run out.
It's a cheap method but it works😅

If you win in overtime does it make a difference? I won but do you get a trophy as item? Or is just symbolic thing. I won in first try, but I just play a ton of blitz ball back in high school.
You get a strength sphere (which can make a huge difference)
And yes you get a trophy

The first time I played this I didn't score, thinking that's the reason why the audience wanted Wakka to comeback and play. The other time I did, I scored one with Tidus but still the audience still wanted wakka back. Seeing Tidus disappointed as he fell left out is kinda sad for me I thought the animation would change if i scored a goal before half time. Now realising all of this, maybe the game really doesn't intend you to win your first blitz.
This is my first time playing FF games, FFX is the one i tried.
dude i absolutely hate this mode 😭 love the story and enjoy the combat more than the other FF games, so having to deal with blitzball is infuriating.
But once you get the technique it gets better 🤣🤣

Wakka has a higher SH number and the Venom Shot, but Tidus has both the Sphere and Jecht Shot at Level 3. So he's better than Wakka, like the lore suggests.
