Usually people will build a box on the back of those of it doesn't come with one already. This is the first one I've seen where someone just plops a camper trailer onto the frame.
I got here because I watched a 2 parts video of a guy raising and welding and connecting all the electricals of his R-pod to the chassis of his truck. I watched his videos just to see how someone would mount a travel trailer on his truck. Really cool.
And oh, I forgot to mention I watched two other videos with one truck having a Clipper 16fb travel trailer on his chassis and the other couple mounted a Hi-Lo 22T on their truck. The Hi-Lo was cool because it's a hard sided popup trailer. So on travel mode, his trailer/coach is lower than his cab for better gas mileage.
This guy doesn't wanna be on camera, but he's got tags on both of his very unique vehicles and a matching vanity plate? That was really clever to put the AC under the solar. Because it absorbs UV radiation, the surface below is quite cool.
They usually have the 3116 cat engine. They are decent motors but they tend to leak engine oil from a plate u see the turbo. The gasket costs around 60-70 bucks but it’s a bitch taking the turbo and tubes off to access the plate.
This truck is nice.....would have looked even better if the camper was mounted in reverse so that the curved part is on the back and the flat part behind the cab....great creation... watching from Ndola Zambia 🇿🇲🇿🇲🇿🇲
Definitely would have looked better that way - but the rear ends aren't designed to have 60mph rain blasted into them so this was probably the better choice.
I can imagine some PFC ripping through whatever training site in offroad, while the Sgt is screaming bloody murder. That truck probably has some stories to tell hahaha
Great build! This is exactly the kind of setup that I'm looking for. I would want lots and lots of water storage.. that has always been a challenge for me when camping off-grid. My toy hauler holds 100 gallons of fresh, and its only got a 40 gallon black and grey tank. I would want to find a way to have much, much more storage capacity than the typical RV. Gotta be a way to make that happen
I'd like to get one of these and do exactly that. Lift it off like a truck bed camper and put a flatbed or dump bed back on it. Can't justify it for camping alone, but if I could plow and haul with it the other 350 days a year, it would totally be worth it.
You will have to do another video of it when it's finished and add a few clips of the first video and show what was added amd changed. I will definitely look forward to a video like that.
Those are sweet rigs. I watch vancity vanlife and livin the van life its cool seeing people do that. I enjoy all the adventures all of yall "camping/vehicle home/outdoors etc" folks have love all yalls content! Im down in OK visiting a friend did some fishing. I caught a can lol. oh well its all about the adventure. So when you getting the heavy duty RV?! lol One great rig for offroad though! See ya next time cheers!
Those finder wheels need stabilize more.& more durability standards.& regular use purposes to buddy. Just make some long notched plates for pins to go through for locking safety pins.& factory specs standards upgrades.
Is the camper level? Very interesting project! And can those wheels slide to be centered over their wells? Isn't the wheel well clearance needed? Can you get it weighed at an interstate highway weigh station? There is something about that weight distribution that is bothering me... structurally the camper was built to sustain the stresses across the existing weight bearing structures, and redistributing the load that extensively could bring some very unanticipated results. Anyone else having the same concerns? You might want to not only weigh it but get the weight borne per axel.
Not a concern at all. Normally everything aft of the rear spring mount is hanging in the breeze anyway. Just looks off because it's so high in the air. That camper went from being supported by a flimsy frame and a couple of light duty axles, to being bolted to a very sturdy chassis on the front half. The beds that normally come on those trucks don't have wheel wells, just flat, not a lot of suspension travel on these things. Though the clearance does look a little tight.
Awesome build!!! Not to be a nit picker….It would have been nice if the wheel well sat in its proper place verses setting so far back. I guess he would have lost the spare tire location. It’s nice too that he owns a shop to buy everything wholesale. Those biiiiggg tires aren’t cheap.
Cant get past the look of a pull behind camper just sitting on a trick frame. Would have turned it around to follow body lines better and fill in the old wheel well
I saw a 30 foot formerly 3 axle 5th wheel camping trailer mounted onto a long frame Peterbuilt 18 wheeler 37 YEARS AGO. So this idea is far from new. Incidentally it didn't have half the camping trailer hanging off the back and it road well since it wasn't a cab over truck with the front seats on top of the front axle. Very poor ride. The only improvement that old rig needed was a camping trailer with slide outs which were not available then.

7:02 That’s the problem !....Not hand built!.... Factory lite weight cheap construction! What I do is buy R.V.’s components New and Used and build with Reinforced Metal construction ! They are not a Pavement Princess trailer on a Overlander Truck ! keep up the good work and innovating! Cheers from Baja Califorina Sur 👍
With a chassis like that it is a shame he couldn't afford a luxury 5th wheel with like 7 slides on it and man you could have the best of both words, without towing!
Ive got the same truck and currently trying to decide whether to build the box or "put something on it" but concerned about the torsion flex of the frame. People are saying that in situations where the frame flexes, without a $9K torsion-free frame it could rip apart.
Should have used an M1088 if it was going to be that long. That ass hanging out there has completely killed the vehicle’s departure angle with regards to any off road adventures. It will get ripped off in short order.

The tiny wheel arch behind the wheel is hilarious
Great video! These vehicles give me way too many ideas that my pocket book can't support. Thanks for the tour.
That van is freaking sweet. I’ve always wanted to put a 5th wheel on top of a Duce and a half. It would be the ultimate bug out vehicle.
That would be a sweet rig!
This guy doesn't wanna be on camera, but he's got tags on both of his very unique vehicles and a matching vanity plate?
That was really clever to put the AC under the solar. Because it absorbs UV radiation, the surface below is quite cool.
That rig has a dope set up. He should definitely put bigger fuel tanks on each side to increase the range.
Yeah a few extra gallons never hurts!
Before I even skip the ads, that's a great concept and a GeoPro? Brilliant!
6:16 that vault tec life
Very nice sir
He could probably build a little panel to fill in the wheel well of the camper and have an even better flow with this build. Such a clever idea👍👍👍
That truck needs notch locking turn pins for keeping the parts into place with.
That's awesome
I would probably have turned the trailer around with the square end in front, maybe
It's called the underframe T bracket mounting bar for locking.& tightening down the body.& frame as one for more strength.& durability to.

Lulu, awesome builds my man! I'm so glad I found ya. I'm gonna be looking forward to meeting up with you one day for sure!

@@bradley3549 thanks for the insight....didn't realize that technical aspect of the camper ....
I can imagine some PFC ripping through whatever training site in offroad, while the Sgt is screaming bloody murder. That truck probably has some stories to tell hahaha

Poop behind a bush in a hole you dig
towable turd tanks are a thing.
Use a composting toilet it will drop your waste water a bunch
When in the boonies, (not at a KOA....) what's wrong with running your grey water out onto the ground? Nothing.
Great idea would be so easy to hook up a system for taking it off and on for chassis work.
I'd like to get one of these and do exactly that. Lift it off like a truck bed camper and put a flatbed or dump bed back on it. Can't justify it for camping alone, but if I could plow and haul with it the other 350 days a year, it would totally be worth it.
Add in two mini shock towers on left.& right side for mini frame shocks.
NICE...great video, both rigs are sic...Wow, thanks for showing us 🇺🇸
You will have to do another video of it when it's finished and add a few clips of the first video and show what was added amd changed. I will definitely look forward to a video like that.
I really love this idea! Being from the UK good style RVs are very hard to come by here so just have to keep dreaming
OMG! If I had the money I'd buy it right now!
The truck is the M1078 LMTV (Light Medium Tactical Vehicle) There are multiple variants of the FMTV (Family of Medium Tactical Vehicles).
Wow nice van, What a great idea with the trailer and truck, Wild!
Really creative monster camper. Sweet. 👍
He came through falls city Nebraska a year or so ago
this man seems to be a Macgyver, it did not dawn on him to add some contraption that attaches to a drill to open that canopy?
Someone just posted a picture of one exactly like this on the beach in outer banks, NC.
I've seen a couple of these made into camp wagons recently, it seems like a great idea 🤷♂️
Those are sweet rigs. I watch vancity vanlife and livin the van life its cool seeing people do that. I'd love to get something with solid axles and stand up capability in the camper section, maybe one of these days! Cheers!
The wheel well doesn't line up with the rear tires looks odd!
that's bright, change ur wheel to off road and increase the suspension.
Ive actually thought of doing this with a pontoon boat < Love it !
I've often wondered is any of the TT builders ever get request for a trailer, MINUS the running gear, for an install like this one.
Those finder wheels need stabilize more.& more durability standards.& regular use purposes to buddy. Just make some long notched plates for pins to go through for locking safety pins.& factory specs standards upgrades.
What do you do with the ladder and platform to climb into this trailer? Impractical!
At 11.58 there is a drive shaft visible being the NSF wheel? Was it for a PTO for a winch or Hydraulic pump. OR is it the drive to the front wheels
Sweet rigs. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Pretty cool! The fan is pretty sweet
WOW!!!!! those are kick ass, unbelievable!!!!!!!👍🏻👍🏻🔥🔥🤘🏻🤘🏻
The LMTV is great but would have been better with a PLS skid plate. Deposit your camper then make a beer run.
That's awesome!😊
Well there is something i've never seen before ...Super cool ..............
And super big 😂
best camper ever!
I wonder how much overhang your allowed on something like that
You're only allowed 4 feet for the current wheel to wheel numbers on that truck. But, stretch the frame and you can add a bigger travel trailer.
anyone else notice the front drive shaft not attached?
WOW ! thanks for sharing, really liked the van. That would be cool for you Quady 😍👍
I know! I'd love to be able to go from the drivers seat to the camper without exiting the vehicle
I love this thing!
If I purchased a 2002 Stewart & Stevenson M1078A1 LMTV 4x4 Cargo Truck, would this guy convert it for me?
Nice. I'm subscribed to all your videos but I don't get notifications for some reason? Not sure why?
Cool rig, my eyes want it to be moved forward more though.
Diesel brothers built one like that a few years ago.
that would be epic with a larger portable party deck lol
Love it! Thanks for sharing !
This is exactly what I want to do
Is the camper level? Very interesting project! And can those wheels slide to be centered over their wells? Isn't the wheel well clearance needed? Nice rig
I would have used a toy hauler camper
Then you could bring a toy or two with
Cool rigs!
I Like the lmtv but I would of put the camper on backward, I think it would of looked a little better.
unpin the airbags under the cab, u don't need them, that's for air transportation
Doesnt want to be on camera but his shop, his ig tag and him are shown. 😂😂
What do you need is that van that would be cool for You the camp out in
I'd love a nice 4x4 van 🚐
What's the overall height?
How fast can the LMTV go?
Where is this rig located?
That was awesome. I would love one lol.
Good job...
What the heck kind of zombie apocalypse borderlands mud-crawling mars rover tank camper is that??!!! And I want one.
Pity there isnt a route to get from the truck cab direct into the living area without going outside.
Cant get past the look of a pull behind camper just sitting on a trick frame. Would have turned it around to follow body lines better and fill in the old wheel well
At 6 mpg it will pass everthing but the truck stops.
That’s cool
Awesome.!!
🙌
So big you can not actually take it off-road, at least in Colorado...LOL

Nice
There is no crane to lift the spare off the mounting point - there is no way a tire change is even possible with 2 people!!!
You need to check videos on how the spare is raised and lowered
Sweeeeeeeet !!

I would love to see it when it's complete, cause it looks shitty
So they just put an RV box on a chassis , it looks ugly as heck .
That’s sweet But WAY to heavy!!
Badasss
🤘
M939 trucks are way better than S&S cabover trucks. The 3116 Cat in the older LMTVs are junk and they have numerous problems.
With a chassis like that it is a shame he couldn't afford a luxury 5th wheel with like 7 slides on it and man you could have the best of both words, without towing!

That's how it should be done... don't pay hundreds of thousands for something you can build your self for 50k!!.❤️🇺🇲🇺🇦
Turn the camper around, it is messing with my OCD!!
Should have used an M1088 if it was going to be that long. That ass hanging out there has completely killed the vehicle’s departure angle with regards to any off road adventures. It will get ripped off in short order.

That’s what you call an awesome mistake lol 😂 nobody will buy it
