People need to stop hating on this car and pretending like 6 seconds isn't fast. We're talking about a 2L 4 cylinder full backhalved car, not a fuckin NRE motor in a stripped out tube frame dragster. For a 7L to be on par with this thing it would need to put out 4800hp. Until i see that happening, your v8 just can't match the hp:displacement this God of a 4 cylinder can do. This motor ALSO holds the record as the fastest pump gas car.
It has the capabilities. People push these little motors to extreme limits. One day maybe someone might be able to build a motor that can keep up with American dragsters. But as of right now it's unheard of
+Travis Collins one thing you're missing. Its a 2.0 liter. Not some american motor that needs 4 times the displacement to be fast. Who cares if its running an extreme 6 BAR of boost? F1 cars ran that amount in their 1.5l v6s. And if you recall, this car was weighted down and restricted to a smaller turbo.

That factory is stil there btw but is called Mitsubishi Motors Manufacturing America (MMMA) after 1995 instead of Diamond Star Motors. MMMA exports to 26 countries worldwide.

oh, power band.... gotcha..... with smart, knowledgeable builds; most turbo Honda engines can have usable power bands. at a certain level the power band is sacrificed, hopefully because its a purpose built car. if its a Honda that only sees roughly 5000-10,000 rpm.. then it doesnt really effect anything the car is trying to do. i like internal combustion engines in general; does not really matter what configuration it is..... but whatever the configuration, i enjoy boost.

F1 cars gave the same outputs in the 1980's with 1.5L motors, but a few more cylinders. It's impressive that a guy can build a car with the same output and similar size, without an F1 budget. Well done :)

Also I was just talking about the cost in comp eliminator... some of those guys spend six figures to only go in the 7's. $100k for a 6 sec car isn't pricey at all really.

well people cant appreciate it because it has to run 86 lbs of boost just to barely dip into the 6's.. It looks and drives like a baby pro stock car, its built to the extremes. So after all of that i've seen cars run .5-.6 secs faster on 2.5 times less boost and 800lbs more weight. Its cool and all, but after going all the way to 86lbs of boost and still being at this speed is kind of sad.. Plus this car is on some kind of shot of nitrous so that just multiplies these feelings..
ive seen it put down well over 1000awhp on a dyno.... but not 1400,..... i wonder if it runs more aggressive timing and more boost at the track than at the dyno. or if thats just a fun crank hp guess
Not too unheard of... You have to remember the restrictions of dragster racing. They have time limits, and their goal is to get as CLOSE to that limit as possible. Detached retina, death, or safety in general are pulling the sports limits back. A 4 cyl motor will catch up. It just needs time and part restrictions lifted. There's a lot of banned technology you gotta remember. There's a 4cyl Acura out there cut out of a solid aluminum block. The car is beast, but can't COMPETE due to it's parts.
I'm a DSM owner my self.. But where I come from 13b's Are doing 6 in a 1/4 mile .,.and that's a 1.3l engine.. U my friend don't know anything about rotaries... And I DO OWN A 91 EAGLE TALON tsi AWD and A 97 Eclipse GSX ..

lets compare shall we? my 4cyl runs high 12's all day, i bought it for 5k and get about 26 mpg. if I got a new corvette i wouldve spent about 12x more cash, getting get less mpgs and have a slower car... if i got a older mustang i might get it for 3k but a 3k dollar mustang might make it to 14's and get about 12 mpgs in review; 4 cyl owns...
