Dear Mr. Black, Over the past 3 years I think I’ve watch almost every video on RUclips about Crown Vic 5-Speed Swapping. Not only do I think you have perfected this procedure, you are the only one I’d trust to do this on my 2004. As soon as I get the money I’m heading to Washington. Lol -Chuck
@@PNW_Car_Mods What year Mustang GT should I harvest all the donor parts from for my 2004. Do mustang GT's of that era use hydaulic, or cable clutches. I prefer hydraulic.
Chuck is alright I don't care what anyone says about him! While there has been parts of this job that required some swearing the end result has been worth it. What a blast to drive. There will probably be two or three shorter videos on the 5 speed swap. :)
👍🏻😎 I swapped the automatic out and put a manual in my 1987 T-Bird Turbo Coupe back in 1998. It cost about $800 to do it and was worth every penny. Unfortunately, just 6 months after the swap a truck ran a red light and T-boned my wife in the drivers door and almost killed her and completely totaled the car, (It was bent in half like a banana). If she had been driving her Capri 5.0 I don't think she would have made it. I'm glad she survived, but I still miss my T-Bird to this day. Good luck with the swap and I will be watching the progress.
Thanks for the Shout Out. Excellent video. I used your video to lower my front end by cutting a coil out of the front springs. I got a 1-5/16" drop. I ordered 1.5" lowering springs for the rear from Eaton.
You are welcome BP. Rightfully deserved. I'm very curious to see what you will think of the eaton springs. We looked into those briefly but ultimately like the idea of going to an adjustable setup in the rear. So far that setup has far exceeded our expectations.
Nice job on this. As a grinder and not a welder I would have never attempted the brake lever weld. Props to you. When I did my swap I used F150 pedals and pretty much the same thing you did ... I just Mig welded the F150 brake pad to the Crown Vic brake lever ... And made the F150 clutch lever and pad match the length of the brake. After some cable issues I went hydraulic and never looked back. Master cylinder for that is right under the power booster. It feels like a Mazda 323 engage / disengage.
Thank you. We even ended up cutting the brake pedal again after this trying to get the ergonomics just right. We did eventually succeed. Both the brake and clutch pedals needed fine tuning. Definitely not worried about the brake pedal snapping off. It's a stout 240v weld. I'd be all for a hydraulic setup if there were something pre packaged that didn't cost and arm and a leg. That being said my wife and have owned at least 3 cable clutch mustangs in the past and never had any problems with them. If they are set up properly with good parts they work great. At least with 300hp or less clutch they do lol. With some crazy race clutch I'd want something hydro for sure.
Great job. I know this is old.news to you but it's new to me. You built that setup better then anyone I've seen and I've seen a lot cause I am planning a swap ony 03 P71. I'm in between a T-3650 and a T-56 Magnum. Cost is the only thing leaning me towards the T-3650. I am just really really hard on my car so I need it to last. And I am planning on boosting her as well. Thank you for the velcro fix on the console lid. You told me about it a few months ago. Works great. Thank you for the content and being thorough. I am OCD when it comes too making sure it's right the best I can make it. If I can't get it good enough I will find someone who can. It's kinda aggravating cause it costs me more time and money but it happens. Lol. Again thank you for showing in really good detail how to do this. They have a hydro conversion for the quadrant now. So I am going to go that route but I have to make these pedals first. ADTR has a conversion pedal for them now but they are a few Hu dred bucks. Would you rather build that again or spend about $400 with shipping and all I guess for the conversion pedal setup?.
Appreciate that Hugh. I honestly am fine with the cable clutch in a near stock power application I should say. The effort is not bad at all using the LUK clutch. If I were doing a T56 I think most go full hydro and not that adapted quadrant deal. Also just throwing this out there. I think you can get a Hanlon Motorsports 3650 that will hold like 650hp that would probably still be cheaper than going full tile with a T56. We still have some update videos to do on this project as well one of these days. Would really like to get a proper custom leather shift boot made for it first. I need to get on that.
Thank you Tyler. We probably have about 700 miles on this swap so far and it puts a grin on the face every single time. There may still be a couple more videos on this swap and some of the finer details in the wiring department and the misnomers of mustang cable clutch adjustment.
Love what you’ve done with the Vic!!! Would you happen to have a parts list of what’s needed to do it??? Or maybe a link??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Not a comprehensive list no. The closest thing would be part 3 video where we pretty much go over every part needed to make the swap and list most of the parts or part numbers required. Thanks for checking it out!
More to come Mozingo. Thanks for checking it out. Going to get a bit more done on the swap this weekend. Hope to have it full swapped the weekend after.

If I ever win the lottery I don't hardly play it's on! even a nice F150 coyote based motor would be fine with me. Still not ruling out an LS and terminator setup though.
Highly recommend. Use it all the time. So nice to be able to weld on things without the ground directly attached to the part. Sure, I'd love to have a big ole permanent welding bench but I just don't have the space for it. This is easy to store when not in use. Since that video I've probably used it 25 times.
@@PNW_Car_Mods Sweet, definitely grabbing one. I was using a steel engine crate frame and it's just too bulky, and looks like a giant piece of scrap metal lol
As far as I know bobby the early cars are even easier to 5 speed swap since you have a cable throttle and don't have the power pedals to deal with. You will still need the tuner to keep the wrench light from being on all the time.
We're definitely not against making a few more of these but it's also definitely not going to happen until this one is 100% satisfactory in operation. :)
That is a good question Frank. The reality of it is the mustang pedal box is so different that it won't fit in the pace allotted and the bolt pattern to the firewall is completely different. By the time you got done chopping it up you would have it more modified than doing it the common way. I've also noticed that ADTRs pedal box now is 100% custom built out of their own design instead of using the mustang and crown vic boxes together which I am assuming they did that because it's simply easier to build and not having to worry about sourcing cores.
@@PNW_Car_Mods Thanx. I'm just planning now. I'm going to make it a reality this year when the weather gets warm! I will definitely look into the ADTR version.
Im working on doing a 5 speed swap on my 2011 was wondering if you know the procedure to make the firewall adjuster bracket? Or can i just drill the adjuster straight into the firewall?
All of that is coming up in the next video so hopefully you'll stay tuned. Should be up in a day or two. You have to use a brace or the sheetmetal firewall will fail and you will ultimately lose the ability to use your clutch.
