Can I just thank you for pointing that out? Just beautiful is all I can think of to describe these human beings and their music, especially with this track. And the way they played this live hit me in a particular way this time because I had never heard it live. We could use about 10 million more musicians just like them.

Dieser Song ist absolut perfekt
For years I associated this with the film Drive, dark and beautiful at times, but ultimately tragic. Years later I learned it was a tribute to Sully. Now whenever I listen to it I remember the miracle on the Hudson, and how truly amazing it was that all 155 people lived. God works in mysterious ways and it's almost impossible to deny he was in that cockpit with our 2 heroes.
It's actually a bit of both, apparently the song started out as a tribute to dark heroes like max (mad max). However, the grandfather of one of the band members knew Sullenberger and said that he was "a real hero and a real human being", they thought the phrase fitted perfectly for the song so they decided to merge the two concepts.
You can see it in the lyrics, the first verse mostly fits for Sullenberger but isn't anywhere near specific to him and, I'd argue, fits mad max far better. By contrast the second verse couldn't be talking about anyone else.

One of my closest friend has just died of an accidental collision on the buggati track on his supersport bike three days ago...36 years old is way too young to go...he was genuinely nice to anyone, always smiling, I've never seen him angry even one time in my life or complain about something. He was just the kind of guy with a Golden heart, humble, respectful and always willing to help. I'm heartbroken right now but this song helps me remind me how lucky i was to meet a real hero and a real human being like him. I miss my grandfather. He was more like my actual father than anything... and definitely a real hero.
Mine died two weeks ago and he was one of my heroes and my best friend.

Ah I see what you mean. The recorded version is in F but it's tuned down half a semi-tone, this performance is in F#, so there's about a tone and a quarter in the diffence

if you get the right audio engineers, you can make anything live sound ten times better than the studio recording.
I would say semi-live, because I think the vocals were recorded later in the chorus part. In the video she sings the chorus part alone, while you can hear several voice at the same time. The other parts/instruments may be recorded live and it seems to be a very good engineering work.

I only stumbled across 'Electric Youth' for the first time this evening... It's as if they would have slotted in perfectly to what many English bands were doing in the 80s a little more reseach (not that it was really needed lol) revealed their influences and the Vince Clarke 'Essex boy extraordinaire' collaboration nailed it. When I discovered they are Canadian it made so much sense. A subtle nuance that imho a lot of Canadian bands are able to bring to esatblished genres 'Electric Youth' take something old and make it current. Its been a pleasure getting to know them this evening.
