To me, the movie is flawless, soundtrack is just superb, but what really gets me is the chemistry between them. There is plenty of scenes without words but with huge body and eye comunication. The scene when she holds his hands for the first time while he's driving is pure magic.
My favorite scene is when they're in the elevator with the guy sent to kill him. After he sees the gun, he knows what he has to do. Time slows down, he turns and kisses her, because knows it'll be the last time she "sees" him as she currently does. His collar is askew, his hair is a mess, as if some inner battle of being seen for what you are vs. what you want others to see you as ("Of course he's a bad guy. Just look at him."). He then beats the other guy, she steps out of the elevator, looking at him while he slowly turns to meet her gaze. Door closes.
@@pugernoufer The scene you've mentioned is outstanding as well. Another very cool one is when they are both on their homes. He, working on some car part, while she is on her's husband welcome party. All under the sound of "Under Your Spell". And, again, the soundtrack blends the action on screen with the significance behind. They are both deeply thinking on each other.
He's a fallen angel experiencing this world with humans. The demon almost lost himself. He isn't a real human being signified by the scorpion on his jacket and the number of his room... 9 = hell. Watch the film The nines the very end and you'll understand Lucy in the sky with diamonds
Hes a fallen angel, a demonic entity experiencing a human body hence the scorpion on his back and the use of this song as the heroes was a name for the fallen angels.
That empty space in your chest that aches, somehow your music makes it ok like there's no need to escape from the pain but suffer well . Pain is a beautiful thing. 💜
I'd say its the only movie that was supposed to be a b movie that smashed its way above 99% of top flight movies , that chase scene where the camera is seeing the car crash behind and the fear of the lady in the back seat is one perfect moment
I might be alone in this but I think it would've been better without the sappy "guy saves girl" angle. It should've been about a sociopathic getaway/stunt driver with alot of cool chase/ stunt scenes. I get they needed to appeal to a wider audience though.
The Driver personifies the struggle everyone, especially men, goes through. I won't try to explain it here, because I couldn't do it justice, and you can feel it better yourself.

"The mass of men live lives of quiet desperation". I know that the rest of the quote changes the meaning significantly, but this first part, taken as it is, has it's own implications. There was an incident at work. A tired old granfather was put by the court's decision in an ufavourable position of fostering his very ill grandson, whom the court apprehended from the boy's junkie mother. The relationship between the grandfather and his daughter was hostile, and the daughter kept undercutting her father with the boy, talking shit about her own father and then buying the kid's love with expensive toys. Grandfather was the only person in this kid's life who gave a shit and attempted to provide some sort of stable household. Their relationship was not tender, strained, but they grew close and the boy depended on his granfather to be all of parents. The grandfather was the sole caretaker, himself with his own medical issues, and at an old age. The boy was frequently hospitalized for continuous progressive treatments, and there were always behavioral issues. He was 10 when he first came to us and quick to anger. We called code white - violent person - weekly on him. All kinds of services worked with them and everyone knew the shitty lot that the kid and the grandfather were dealt. One of those codes was particularly nasty - the boy started punching a CYC (Child and Youth care support worker) and grandfather grabbed him by the throat and pinned him to the bed. The whole situation was awful. The whole matter was swept under the rug - CYC did not want to make a huge deal out of it and get the grandfather in trouble, everyone understood that the grandfather did it to protect the CYC and the whole fostering situation was very rough on him. I mean the kid was fucking wild. Nursing and medical teams did not want to escalate the issue beyond what had happened and it was mutually agreed that this was a one time occurrence and the grandfather did not pose a threat to the kid. The opposite, you could say. CAS was involved from the get go, and they also agreed that nothing here warranted separating the kid also from his grandfather. My charge took the grandfather aside to cool off, and he told her everything. They spoke for a couple of hours and he told her the whole story. We all knew bits and pieces, but she got the whole unedited extended edition director's cut. He really needed to vent. She was in tears after, re-telling us the story. And she said something that made me chuckle. She said "I hate it, I can't stand these lonely men being in these horrible situations". Before I could stop myself I blurted out "well, hold on to your trousers, sister, because that's most men". We laughed then, because we can't work if we cry, and we have to work. But that event confirmed all my experiences with how alone we often are.
