If you decide to come back to explore some more near Valencia, its worth it to drive up to visit Pulangbato Falls. As an American that has been living here for a while, I can understand why some comments being posted depict this area as not being to their liking. That's the beauty of these islands, lots of variety to choose from but its best to visit and figure out for yourself what best suits your individual taste.
You'll be more comfortable in the Philippines, conversing in American English with anyone, USD going further, and in Dumaguete, there are lots of expats. It's a no brainer !😊
I heard that Mark Thornton the RUclipsr from every man has a story channel, passed away a little more than a day ago. Condolences to his wife and child.
Such a sad news. Every interview he shared (overwhelmingly male) and probably much to his dismay, only brought indifferent perspectives and colorless views. All good, the views expressed neither hurt nor helped.
It is truly heart-rending to hear of the sad demise of Mr. Mark Thornton. Compared to me, he was a relatively young man. Nevertheless, it is interesting that as we listen to vloggers day after day or week after week, we get some perspective on who they are and how they arrived at the place where we "met" them. For example, I know from listening to him, that he owned a lot of Apple stock. Regrettably, he sold potentially millions of $$'s of it, at the insistence of relatives, to buy a house, which he later lost during the Great Financial Crisis in the U.S. Recently, he shared some of his health concerns with us, and mentioned his heart condition again. He said that he had no serious health problems prior to taking the C-19 vaxx. After that, he said, surprisingly, that he was diagnosed with a heart condition. Sadly, for him, he and I sought different council about the safety and efficacy of those shots. I'm sure that he would not have listened to Alex Jones and renown expert Dr Peter McCullough, who warned against the mrna products in the so-called vaxx. I will not go on further, other than to say that knowing myself, I know that I would have been anxious everyday knowing that stuff was coursing through my veins. Thus, I consider Mr. Thornton to be a victim. And, for me, that fact adds to the heavy sadness of his extremely untimely demise. Heartfelt condolences to his loved ones and especially, his wife and infant child. May God bless and comfort each one. May God bless his soul and may he rest in eternal peace.
Good video, I liked the mountain nature resort and park. It needs a transition clip back down. I like Valencia, lots of back road places to see and stay when you tire of summer heat.

Dumaguete is a great place to start your journey here in the Philippines. There are plenty of home rentals, Western food, banking opportunities and most things a new expat would need. Barangay Daro around Ace Hospital and Piapi around Neva's pizza are safe and generally quiet areas to live. Bacong and Valencia are also options. If you are seeking other expats in your life there are more than enough in Dumaguete. My first 7 years in the country were spent there and I have no regrets. Adobo because it is easier to cook. Everyone can. Sisig takes time and efforts. Clean the face, boil them, grill them, sautee them.
