- Here it is folks, a project started over a year ago I can finally share with you all -
This brand-new documentary is a collaboration between myself and editor/fxsupremo Aaron Price, responsible for some of the best restoration and sfx upgrades to the original film you'll ever see.
I approached Aaron not long after a generous fan had provided uploads of raw footage shot for French Television. Though the coverage was broadcast at the time (and is available in poor quality here on the channel) not only was it dubbed in French but much of the majority of priceless behind the scenes footage remained unused.
Aaron and I discussed the possibility and potential for re-cutting the Interview (filmed by a crew at Reeve's townhouse in Chelsea in 1986) and the magnificent behind the scenes footage together in the style of a potential DVD/Blu-Ray extra - the kind the original feature deserved...
“And over the last few years we have heard a lot about something called ‘family values’. And like many of you, I have struggled to figure out what that means. And since my accident, I've found a definition that seems to make sense. I think it means that we're all family. And that we all have value.”
Christopher Reeve, speaking at the Democratic National Convention in 1996.
What a Super Man.
I enjoyed this. Christopher Reeve will always be superman to me.
I feel sad that Christopher Reeve had no idea at the time that this would be the daftest and worst put together Superman movie. He had his ideas of what would work and they really didn’t. Still love the man and there will never be an actor that personifies Superman like he did.
HIS aspect worked but the Salkind's and Cannon RUINED his Superman movies. They cut the budgets so bad they reused the same flying at the camera shot 11 times. There's some unbelievable documentaries on it. 🖖🏻
He knew.
@@Ghosthead83 not quite - he trusted them and was greatly let down.
I thought it was fine
Christopher Reeve as Superman and Burt Ward as Robin both came straight out of the comics. They really brought those characters to life.
Always love seeing Reeve speak about Superman. Great video!
My God where did you find this footage? This is amazing! Especially the Clive Mantle footage and the fight scenes outside the Metro Club. And is Mark Pillow the nicest, most well spoken, polite and down to earth gentleman ever? I mean seriously…How refreshing is that? Especially given the garbage that Cannon gave to this poor film. So refreshing to see class like this for a change. The Furie must see the light of day. Let’s make this happen!
Yes I hope Clive gets to see this too.
Yes, I’ve seen. Mark do interviews before, and he always comes off very classy. And not bitter at all that this movie didn’t jumpstart his acting career.
I love how they got Lex Luther to drive him to the studio right at the end 👏
Brought a tear to my eye to hear him talk so passionately.
I LOVE THIS. Great work to all involved.
This s amazing! Incredible job. I always remember Nuclear Man scaring me as a kid and then I saw an interview with Mark Pillow and thought "Wow, this guy is the nicest guy in the world" 😂
Such a beautiful and rare video, i'm always amazed and intrigued on seeing footage from 'Superman III' and 'Superman IV' i have such a soft spot for those two films and it's nice seeing them get some love as well plus seeing Reeve and Pillow talking so humble and with so much love just makes you wonder what would have happened if things had turned out differently. Great job on the video keep up the good work.
I wonder when Chris mentioned actors that do a role for the money, if he actually referred to Marlon Brando that agreed to appear in "S-I" for a ridiculous amount of money.
He did.
BRILLIANT!!! THANK YOU!!!
This is amazing!!! Great work all. Thank you for sharing. Absolute dream to see Superman IV restored
Glad you enjoyed it
Amazing love any old footage of chris, any news on superman iv restored cut?
Please go to my new Facebook page, Restore Superman IV for updates...
Thank you for uploading
My lord this is brilliant - thank you sooooo much - I LOVE THIS...
My favourite Superman, love it and thank you
Thank you for this amazing content
Amazing footage! Thank you so much!
That was great! Glad you posted it. I've always liked Superman IV. Once you get past the sub par special effects it's not a bad movie.
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou
100% be they have behind the scenes metro club footage too.
...This is my favorite
Thanks for this!!!!
Who new Nuclear Man is such a gentleman.
Christopher Reeves suit looks so amazing in the 4 superman movie saga!!✊✊✊
thank's good stuff
“NO, STOP, THE PEOPLE!!!”
9:52 - Man was flawless.
With a few tweaks to the script and Cannon not gutting the budget, it could have been a really good film.
Wow he even had Silvio Berlusconi as hes Schaufer driver !!! LOL
No matter how many times I see "Superman IV", when I watch the scene where Lois is sitting with Clark in his apartment, tearfully discussing Superman's disappearance and her fear that he might be dead, I never fail to get a lump in my throat and tears in my own eyes.
Even with all the weaknesses this movie has (it's my least favorite of the Reeve "Superman" series), I still prefer it over any of today's "Man of Steel" movies. The new movies are an okay popcorn and soda theater experience; with all the hype behind them and the spectacle of those computer effects, and by leaving your brain at home and not expecting too much, they're halfway tollerable. But one thing "Superman IV" has over them is heart.
And don't even get me started on how much better the MUSIC was in those older movies!
Chris will always be the best live-action Superman ever!
I've absolutely been looking forward to this for a while! Christopher Reeve is still my favorite Superman. Excellent work! Love the channel!
''He is Superman for everybody.''
This is fantastic. Always loved that Superman was multilingual in TQFP. Great to see the behind the scenes on this and Reeve’s take on it.
Reeve.

Absolutely brilliant. My favorite of the Superman films…I still wish we had a complete full edit with Nuclear Man 1 and the night club scene!
Amazing watch. Great behind the scenes footage. But what took the cake was listening Christopher Reeve speak at length about Superman and his portrayal of Clark Kent.
Gives you an idea of how iconic Superman 4 could have been given the right execution and production values.
Also lovely listening to Mark Pillow who plays Nuclear Man. What a refined, polite gentleman he comes across here. Kudos for uploading this hidden gem.
Despite its low budget this was a comic book hero movie with a cause. For that reason alone I hold it in high regard. Not done again until the recent Guardians of The Galaxy movie protesting against animal testing and cruelty. If Aaron gets his way, this could turn out to be a fabulous movie.
The amount of time and dedication that you've put in to this hidden gem is outstanding. I only wish it was longer than 16 minutes
I really appreciate it 🙏
@@supermania love how superman hair style is in 4 to me its the best look of curl S hair together wave and how Christopher is more embody the role of Clark & superman ever before sad its the last wish superman 5 was made in 1991 or something before accident on horse and could he fight brainiac on silver screen that been the best last movie if Warner got to do it at the time
A wonderful video! Very well edited, with very rare images. I sincerely hope that one day fans will be able to discover a new cut of the film, closer to the vision of the late CHRISTOPHER REEVE.
Thank you so much for this video.
This is an amazing watch. Thankyou so much for this. One of my favourite scenes in the quest for peace is when superman goes to the UN and tells that he's going to rid the world of nuclear weapons. It moves me so much and makes me cry every time. I miss chris reeve.
Excellent video. This film has taken on greater poignancy since its premiere in 1987. The last Reeve Superman, a film with its heart in the right place, a film shortchanged by its producers. Today's digital production solutions, however, offer the possibility to Restore Superman IV, to make it the film it was meant to be.
Thanks for uploading this Martin. Hope to see you soon. 👍
Reeve looked the best in superman iv at age 34..
Absolutely amazingly put together!!!!⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thank you! It was a labour of love.
@@supermania well, it truly made me emotional watching this! Thank you Martin & Aaron, as always your dedication to Chris is passionate & exemplary.🙏🌹
This is such a great piece to see after all these years. Guaranteed Martin Lakin has already located the exact house where Christopher Reeve resided during this documentary 👍🏼
I DO have the address, lol...
Great work - thank you for putting the time into this!
OMG. How did you find this footage. Anything to do with Christopher Reeve is a blessing.
Wow Mark Pillow could have done so much more with the part if the production wasn't a disaster. He should have had his own voice.
Nuclear Man having the voice of Lex Luther still made a lot of sense.
Mark Pillow (Nuclear Man) comes across as a very charming gentleman - totally opposite to his character. Whatever the rating of the movie, as a kid we loved it because it was another Superman movie.
Thank you Supermania!, Blessed this channel!✨, Christopher Reeve was , is, will always be the Best Superman of all time! ❤️, Blessed his soul!🤍
Thank you so much for putting this together! Such a special and rare look!❤❤❤
What a find. Loved this
Just wanted to say a big thank you for putting this masterpiece together I really enjoyed it and it truly brought a tear to my eye.
Woooow! Great job! 😮❤❤❤❤
Excellent video! Enjoyed listening to Chris Reeve, he looked amazing!

14:47 looks great, is it from new 4k or you and Alex did something with it? Documentary is pure delight!
That's one of Aaron Price reworked clips...
This was such a treat to watch. As a kid I was always so entertained by Superman IV. It was the first time seeing Superman take on a super being that was also in cape and costume. That made it a lot more fun than the first 3 films. If there had been a Christopher Reeve audio commentary track for the film, I think people would appreciate the movie, rather than make jokes of it. He really did put a lot of thought and effort into Superman. It was the one thing that always made his onscreen Superman seem so larger than life. Its the kind of thing that the recent iterations of Superman are seriously lacking. Thats why those guys dont feel like Superman to me, while Reeve truly embodies the essence of the character. Its such a shame that the budget was slashed and that the film was trimmed down to the bare minimum. Hopefully, one day we will get the uncut version of Superman IV. Perhaps one day we will also get a proper Superman for a new generation , because that kind of hero/role model is what people are in dire need of.
Totally awesome!!!!
I watched Superman IV with my son recently. With all its shortcomings it is still better than 99 percent of the Marvel movies out there. It’s got charismatic actors, the kind we don’t see today. And it’s got soul.--I never thought I’d say this after one utterly disappointing day back in 1987.
Res t in peace 1:15
He should of went back to Richard Donner to make part 4
He did. Donner turned it down, too much water under the bridge. Chris also approached Tom Mankiewicz. Wes Craven got the job but he & Chris didn't get along.
@@supermania Maybe too much issues Donner had with WB and Salkind
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video
Glad you enjoyed it!!
My mom took me to see this when i was little. Never forget *tears*
9:50 In fact, this man really knew how to fly. Even turning your back.
Thank you.
WWWOOOWWW!!! Thank you for this.
Great footage!!
Never should've got rid of donner
Una pena lo que le pasó a este hombre bello por dentro y fuera besos cielo ❤❤❤❤
This little documentary made me appreciate this film more than before. Much respect to Christopher Reeve for his passion an efforts. Also thanks TO YOU for putting this out. 😉🦸♂️
