air does not have the same resistance as water. therefore, it would not look natural to copy the movements that were in the water for movement in the air
That really depends on the actor. Take the first Superman FX tests vs Christopher Reeve, for example. In the first tests, the stand-ins had absolutely no idea how to move to make flight believable, so everything looked absolutely stupid. Instead, Christopher Reeve knew how to make his body aerodynamic, thanks to his experience with hang-gliders, and that won him the part of Superman. Brandon was fine. The problem was the whole film was just a pale imitation of Donner's film. It didnt offer anything new, it felt like it was just trying to copy Reeves and hope that people would be driven by nostalgia to see the film. Its not terrible, but it is weak. With a better script and director the film couldve been better
Looking back, Superman Returns was an amazing movie with great actors. The story though.... was not terrible just a little weak. But still better than what we have now
Kalyn & Robert I agree!! I think it’s just times have changed over the years unfortunately... I think that a lot people want way more action and faster paced movies than the older styled ones were like.. This film did remind me of the Christopher Reeve ones and I personally like Superman Returns better than the Man of Steel.
The casting was good (with the exception of Lois IMO) but the screenplay was terrible. The plot was okay but very poorly executed when the camera's were rolling. Not to mention the fact that Superman has a child(out of wedlock), which he never has in the comics and that he wasn't around for and didn't know about. Quite a divergence from the Superman fans knew and loved And that isn't even to mention the fact that they tried to make it a romance while simultaneously depicting him as a creepy stalker/peeper in the most uneventful and action-less Superman film ever. Routh and Spacey were it's saving grace. I didn't think Routh would have played the role well at all, but he proved me wrong. He was nearly perfect, especially for the fans of the original films. It's too bad we will never get to see Routh play in a real Superman film, for Superman fans, and not another film portrayed as a romance that's supposed to be an action/thriller.
Not sure what youre talkig about. Routh looked really stiff in his flight sequences. Cavill's flight sequences properly grasped the power of Superman without looking uncomfortable. His flight felt a lot more natural and believable

They were talking about his flying style, the hulking, musclebound, flexing guy, that means that he wasn’t rough on the way of flying. He was gentle and had a elegant posture when flying
Llyd ap Dicter he has never been portrayed as the most muscular superhero, nor one of the most muscular superheroes, he has always been up there with the others (maybe slightly bigger if you want). He is huge and shredded just because the standard for a strong body changed throughout the decades. They raised the muscularity of every superhero because the most powerful guys on the planet couldn't be smaller than every elite bodybuilder. But superman is not defined by his size like others. What the guy said was perfectly accurate.
While you're 100% correct, and I thought the exact same thing when that guy said that, I think he was referring to people who have played Superman. Henry Cavill is the first comic book accurate utterly ripped man of steel. Even Reeves wasn't that jacked.
Geeezz,...my ultimate crush...the best superman among all the superman characters.... With or without costume.he really looks like a real superman...effortless...
Brandon was awesome as Superman the only problem was the story line of the movie also the script and the villain too... Poor Brandon being put at the wrong movie that make him so weak as Superman...🙌🙏🙌
I have always said this but he really was not only a great Superman but a great Clark. Not t since C. Reeves and Dean Cain has there been and equal of the characters. And Brandon is just amazing. People can Bash this movie but I loved it.
Not a bad movie. Had plenty of unrealized potential. The cast, art direction, the VFX and the action set pieces, the airplane rescue particularly, were fantastic. Routh was great. I think he just needed a chance, like Cavill, to do more with the character. There were moments where his Superman seemed… I don’t wanna say cold. But that’s how it came off. While in others he had a potential endearing quality.
I met Brandon Routh at a con in June 2017, he was a really nice, charming guy. But I'm getting mileage out of this for the rest of my life; I'm 6'2" and I was maybe a hair taller than he was. When we pose for a picture, he not rudely but firmly puts his arm around my shoulder and pushes me down so I look about two inches shorter than he is in the picture.
El mejor actor y pelicula despues de Cristofer R. Deseo que vuelva me encanto la pelicula y el actor un 10 felicitaciones. Un gran saludos desde Chile.
Routh is just so damned likable. And he got everything right. And yet the movie didn’t quite work. It’s a pity they didn’t give it a second chance. He looks so much like the character and Christopher Reeve.
Superman Returns showed the best flying effect of the super, even surpassing what was shown in more recent films if the effects team that worked on Super Men Returns worked on all the character's flights the DC films would have a result much better.
Brandon Routh did the best he could with a lackluster script. He was basically asked to imitate Reeve's Superman, and that wound up being one of the major knocks against the movie. Not his fault. I thought he absolutely nailed it...I mean NOBODY is Christopher Reeve (especially when portraying Clark Kent) but Routh was plenty good. Count me as one of the few who thought "Returns" was a very solid movie.
There is something about Brandon that just screams 'heart of gold' which is exactly what superman is. Love this actor.

He is huge and shredded just because the standard for a strong body changed throughout the decades. They raised the muscularity of every superhero because the most powerful guys on the planet couldn't be smaller than every elite bodybuilder.
But superman is not defined by his size like others. What the guy said was perfectly accurate.
Brandon Routh is jacked, but he's not Lou Ferrigno level.
No. Superman is not the Hulk.
While you're 100% correct, and I thought the exact same thing when that guy said that, I think he was referring to people who have played Superman. Henry Cavill is the first comic book accurate utterly ripped man of steel. Even Reeves wasn't that jacked.
Cool Video 👍😎.
Superman Returns is Great 🙄
Geeezz,...my ultimate crush...the best superman among all the superman characters.... With or without costume.he really looks like a real superman...effortless...
i liked this movie....
Brandon was awesome as Superman the only problem was the story line of the movie also the script and the villain too... Poor Brandon being put at the wrong movie that make him so weak as Superman...🙌🙏🙌
People say this movie is bad but I really enjoyed it🤷🏾♂️
This guy was also a great Superman!!!!
Ironicaly, he could have been a good AQUAMAN! 👍
Leopoldo Astudillo You're right, I think Jason Momoa looked too stiff in Justice League especially during those underwater scenes.
Leopoldo Astudillo
Leopoldo Astudillo yep.
Leopoldo Astudillo hahahahhaahhahaha very good hahahahahaha
@@giofirdaus6622 Jason Momoa can't act even underwater. No surprise.
I have always said this but he really was not only a great Superman but a great Clark. Not t since C. Reeves and Dean Cain has there been and equal of the characters. And Brandon is just amazing. People can Bash this movie but I loved it.
Absolutely fabulous
Now i know why its look so realistic... 😯😯
Dean Cain & Brandon route my best favorite actors of Superman & I love DC comics ever;-)
Would it be fair to say Routh carried some of what he learned here over to Legends of Tomorrow?
Brandon Routh with his Norwalk tshirt! Hometown hero!! ✊
Ver y good CHRISTOPHER REEVE IS SUPERMAN.. FOREVER!!
El mejor actor y pelicula despues de Cristofer R. Deseo que vuelva me encanto la pelicula y el actor un 10 felicitaciones. Un gran saludos desde Chile.
Superman Returns was a Good Film. The sequel would have been BOSS!
yeah the flying in this film was more fluid than Man of Steel or Dawn of Justice. Though I liked all the last three Superman films.
A lot of people did not like this movie. I really liked it. It is a good Superman movie.
👏👏👏 bravo Brandon!!
Flying scenes in this movie are Wayyyy !! better than MoS , period!!
J'étais persuadé que le film avait été réalisé sans aucun trucage ! 😮
Even those training was seen like, really he was flying
Terry Notary has blown up in the mo-cap business these days!
I would love to see him back as Superman if Cavill is not available. Idk why they didn’t make Cavill’s sequel, a big missed opportunity.
Routh is just so damned likable. And he got everything right. And yet the movie didn’t quite work. It’s a pity they didn’t give it a second chance. He looks so much like the character and Christopher Reeve.
this was cool
to bad the movie was trash
Superman Returns showed the best flying effect of the super, even surpassing what was shown in more recent films if the effects team that worked on Super Men Returns worked on all the character's flights the DC films would have a result much better.
This superman is freakin' handsome
Brandon Routh did the best he could with a lackluster script. He was basically asked to imitate Reeve's Superman, and that wound up being one of the major knocks against the movie. Not his fault. I thought he absolutely nailed it...I mean NOBODY is Christopher Reeve (especially when portraying Clark Kent) but Routh was plenty good. Count me as one of the few who thought "Returns" was a very solid movie.
They should open that up to the public , looks like fun!
