    As an older archer its interesting to me how the longer bows are considered target bows which has really never changed. I remember taking a 37" Darton bow to the woods with a 11" front stabilizer and using it for hunting and 3d. Its good to see companies still catering to that type of archer. I wouldnt hesitate taking this bow hunting and using it for target. I like a 7" brace height as well and there simple tuning system. I remember calling Frank the Darton bow mechanic to get specs on cable twisting to get perfect tuning.Ahh the good ole days.

      Both are very good, the Elite is more sturdy but affects the whole limbs, the Bowtech just adjust the cams but is mechanically more complex.

    Seems like a great all around bow that would be equally at home at a 3D shoot, indoor shoot, or hunting out west. I wish the bigger manufacturers put as much emphasis on tunability as Elite but it’s almost like they have a silent agreement with the pro shops to keep tuning needing a bow press, top hats, spacers, etc.

      It's called a finger sling

    • @AussieArcher1234
      @AussieArcher1234 2 года назад +3

      Finger sling to help stop hand created torque .You see it used more on recurve , but it works on Compound as well.

    • @Buran01
      @Buran01 Год назад

      @@AussieArcher1234 The sling is to prevent the bow from falling from your hand, not for prevent torque. In target the orthodox way to grip the riser is to allow the throat of the grip to freely rest between your thumb and your index finger with the other three fingers slanted and minimal contact with the grip, "floating". Since the arm which wileds the bow is "pushing" forward and your releasing arm exerts force backwards when the string is released the bow tends to move forward (also, the stabilizers pulls down). In recurve olympics the archers usually let the bow to "roll" forward, but that is uncommon in compounds. In hunting usually you use a full grip on the riser.

    • @Buran01
      @Buran01 Год назад

      @@AussieArcher1234 Nah, you said that the finger sling reduces torque, but the only thing that does is to catch the bow and prevent it from fall after the release. I explained the difference to help unaware readers which would think based on your words that the sling itself has any effect on preventing torque: if you use a sling but still grip the riser the same way the sling is useless. Thanx and bye.

In short - hunting bows more compact and power over precision, target bows more customisable and precision over power. You can only reach those speeds if you shoot an arrow in a drop away rest with no fletchets and a Arrow shaft so light you are on the verge of dry firing your bow. The bow also has to be set at the very heaviest draw weight and longest length, lowest number let off. And the most important part a very very out of spec chronograph. You can expect to be shooting somewhere in the 290 to 300 fps area in the real world

      Did anyone notice the micro adjustable cable stops? SET technology? These are Elite technologies that no one else has. Every bow since the recurve has a “limb”. PSE had 9” limbs in 2006 with a wide platform… limbs are limbs. Aluminum risers are risers. Pay attention to the ability to make this bow “fit” your specific shooting needs. All without a bow press needed, which is something you can’t do with a Mathews or a Prime.
