Nice that you shown a video like that Paul because most people that watch RUclips fishing (me included) think were doing things wrong if we haven't bagged up like you see on most fishing videos, people don't see the hours that go into making them, then we all rush out and buy a load more lures/tackle we don't need, thanks again paul.
I know David we're all guilty of doing that and buying more gear. A few people at my lure day said similar and that's why i did these couple of videos. I've done similar in the past with some videos. Not everyones cup of tea as most people like 3 minutes of action then they get bored.
@@riverpiker I came to the lure bash with Adey (Yorkshire fly lad) but i couldn't stay, he really enjoyed the day and i will deffo be on the next one. thanks again paul.
I keep coming back to your videos over and over as when times are tough you put the confidence back into me. Things are definitely getting better for me and I haven't blanked for a long time now although it might only have been a wasp or two that saves the session lol. Still working on my techniques and making the right lure choices but I'm enjoying it. Got more confidence with the Pike now also but my best has only been about the same size as the first one in you caught in this video.
A proper northern fishing video by a proper top northern fisherman 👍🏽🎣!!! This is how yer do it lad !!! … Well done buddy and hope you and the family are all fit and well 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🎣🎣🎣😀😀😀😀😀😀
Yeah mate there's probably decent perch in most canals somewhere but the lure meet canal can be tough. But there's some bits of it no one really fish as it's a trek so who knows what lurks
Decent video as always, hardly surprising you didn't catch much that canals getting absolutely battered recently. A lot of these videos contribute to that unfortunately especially on such a noticeable stretch.
Most places are blown these days bud. Even if it’s not on a video there’s plenty of people fishing the spots. We just have to accept that lure fishing is very popular these days.
Ah matey of course it is, they all live near me and we fish the same waters. If you think those boys catch some fish you should have seen what we used to catch round here 15 years ago before RUclips was born. I don’t mean that to sound big headed or anything by the way buddy. But before the lure boom we had some crazy fishing. My early days of RUclips I never showed these places but the other RUclipsrs didn’t hold back so much.
Haha smoke me a kipper. All right Ace (what a guy) 😆. I think i would have been temped to fish the other side among the boats, is it not accessible on that side?
You can fish from narrowing near lock down to the boats but then it’s private. They have the boats fenced off. So you’d have to chuck from far bank where I was.
Dank maatje. Ik heb een kleine jongen die al mijn tijd in beslag neemt, maar ik zal meer video's maken als ik kan. Hoop dat het goed met je gaat en dat je veel vangt.
Good stuff Paul. The fenland waters I fish are exactly the same - one day red letter day, following week I can’t buy a bite except odd jacks. I fish my favourite swims and end up fishing those that just don’t feel right as in never produce and still no Perch. In the fens there are a lot of reeds and a good refuge, but on your canal, brick lined banks. So, are they under the boats and not interested or migrated 2 miles upstream or you’ve missed the feeding window? Or are they spawning?!? I always look forward to your vids. All the best 👍
Yeah exactly Paul. I actually think there's some decent perch about but they are shy and you're fishing for one or two bites. Usually i'll not bother fishing for these kind of fish as my time is limited so i'll try other venues hoping for easier fishing. I'm sure at some point a bit of time on this canal will produce.
@@riverpiker Yes, with family commitments (a happy wife is a happy life🤣) I don’t manage to get out half as much as I’d like, so I want some fun and action when I do and the blank saving 6lb jack on perch gear still puts a smile on my face, which is what it’s all about IMO. Enjoy your fishing Paul 👍
Only been lure fishing since October last year caught one fish really struggling to catch debating weather to go back to carp fishing tried numerous sections of canals still no joy great video by the way 👍👍
What area are you? Try using fox rage french blade spinners, 7g size 3... let it sink a bit and straight retrieve not too fast .. feel free to subscribe to my Instagram or here on youtube and I'll try help as much as possible... location is a big factor.. what line you using? Leader? Weight rod? I fished my local for 5 sessions didn't catch a thing... fished a canal down south and couldn't stop catching.. it can be hard on pressured waters.. give good spinners a go 👍 get you started ... 10lb flurocarbon hooklength or 5kg wire trace .. you want a snap swivel if using spinners tho... just a snap if using jigs .. Good luck. Hit me up on insta (same name) if I can help i will.
@@ukstreetfishing I think Castleford and dewsbury isn't too far from you.. sometimes it really is location; some canals and rivers are much easier. Im in leeds and my local canal is really hard but if I travel 20 to 30 mins there's much easier fishing. Iv always found dewsbury canal easy. Iv never fished Sheffield way.. I no hudderfield canal is meant to have some big perch. I'm fishing for big perch atm tbh. I carp fish too.. lure fishing is best to keep moving and try find the fish. All the best 👍
Daz keep at it mate. As the lads have said scale down and you'll start to catch more. Also keep your sessions short and get around the venues to find where feeding fish are. No point spending all day on a tough venue.
Hi Tom. They are nice mate. Not too silly price range, nice looking and nice to fish with as well. Worth the money mate you'll be happy if you bought one
Yes, I try to fish as light as possible, but that blanket week is a killer even fishing weedless. Thanks for the advice though. Keep going, your stuff is brilliant
I'd rather see these real sessions anyday. Unfortunately millions of others are like 5 year old kids needing constant action vids, which results in all sorts of dodgy off camera tactics from some of the most well known RUclipsrs.
Sadly Simon it seems that plenty are at it. I know majority of people won't see my videos or have the patience to stick at them but would rather they were enjoyed by people like yourselves. cheers matey hope you're catching a few.
Thanks for these vids, I've been getting so frustrated trying lure fishing on the canal. Im determined to catch a pike before the year is done!

Excellent mate
It can be a bit soul destroying can lure fishing at times, but if your in the right place at feeding time things start to look up again.
Yep.. moving around and searching water is best bet ... location is key, some places seem super easy others are hard 🤷♂️
yes mate if you are lucky enough to hit the spots at feeding time it can be a whole different day
Great vid man and thanks must be doing something right as the same no fish sometimes God bless you man👍🎣there all ways a pike or Jack maybe one👍
Hey buddy. Yeah always a jack somewhere to crash the party! 🤣
Great to see you make some vids again 👍.
Red dwarf quote not wasted on this old git either.
Cheers Scott. You must be as old as me then, ha ha!
that dog does that all the time lol, wants to catch fish with you lol,
Great video👌
Sometimes it can be hard work 💪
Don't let them hear you saying your using flurocarbon 🙄 ... Good video 👍 heard there's big perch in the canal you had the meet. Hard going there tho.
