    hey mate, what is nicer than fishing in nature, the birds chirping, enjoying the fresh air and catching fish relaxed, it could hardly be better, in NL the trout is extinct because the water quality was very poor, which is a shame The water quality is now better but the trout can no longer be caught in the wild, very unfortunate, thank you for this nice video!

      Hey buddy. Yes exactly that. There’s nothing better. I do enjoy my little adventures just me and nature. Sometimes you don’t even need to go too far either. That’s a real shame to hear about the trout in NL buddy. Do you think that the authorities may look to reintroduce them?

      Hey buddy. This is in England. But I can assure you we also have similar problems with rubbish in our rivers. Luckily this little bit of river is beautiful.

    It’s so crap we aren’t allowed to fish for trout here in the Anglian region with lures during the coarse close season. Envious? You bet! Doesn’t stop me from enjoying your vids though Paul - a notification I’m always glad to see.
    Don’t know how far you are away, but Danby used to be good as I know from my holidays of old, but too far from me unfortunately. Good stuff as always 👍

      Hi Paul. Yeah that’s not good mate feel sorry for you guys. I’m spoilt to be honest. Lots of hills and rivers are just an hour away so I can always find some trout. Loads to choose from, not always easy but I love the adventure. Got some more trout videos coming up as I’ve enjoyed my little sessions recently.

      does lifting the rod tip up make the rapala dive deeper? an flicking the rod tip down make it jerk forward?

    Fantastic vid again Paul ,What rod are you using ,I currently use a whychwood Agitator for drop shot and small soft baits,but have broken ttwo of my push in tips using it for cranks.I have a cracking little river like this one near me with a nice head of wild brownies that I would like to have a go for.Ta Gio.

      Thanks matey. Using a LMAB La Moustique 0.5-6g rod. Really nice rod mate. Looks nice and is great to fish with. I’ve got same rod in a few other styles also. One is 3-15g or something which i use for perch and small pike. Got some more trout videos coming as I’ve been enjoying having a little explore on my own. Usually an hour or so away there will be some hills and a small river so have a look round matey you never know what you will find

    nive vid as per paul nice1 i just wanted to know what length of leader your using here, i got another 5ft 6 U.L rod and ive used braid before but always tied the braid straight onto my lures and i want to try using a leader and i need to know how short a leader i can get away with using my wee rod, thanks in advance pal take it east n take care. Tight lines ❤🎣✌💙👍🙋‍♂️

      Personal Preference basically mate. Mine are usually about 20 inches long. Key is to get a good knot so that it doesn’t get caught in the tip ring. Some guys will have a 2m long leader. They have longer leader as they will tie direct to the lure rather than using a clip. I use a clip. Also fluoro is miles better abrasion resistance so rocks and branches won’t wear it away while braid is usually pretty poor and will weaken massively so that’s why the leader is used. Also because it is harder for fish to see the fluoro than braid.

      @@riverpiker Nice1 Paul sound advice i also use small clips but forgot to mention, have you tried Mustad mini clips? they are actually meant for fly fishing a guy in the store recomended them they are the smallest i have seen anywhere else more suited to spinners though as the loop on the connecting part doesnt leave much room for lures to swim naturaly looking ? < this question mark is the actual shape of the mini clip, theres a small eye to tie on the line then just a small semi closed loop just like this> ? worth a try pal you get 20 0dd in a box for a couple of quid, thanks again paul take care n stay safe Tight lines ❤🎣✌💙👍🙋‍♂️

      Yes buddy I have used them before. They are pretty small. The ones I used I had one bend open a little so decided not to use them but I’m sure I’ve seen others use them.

    What's your all time favorite lure for trout (and by lure I mean things like fake minnows i.e. the rapala you are using haha)! I've never been a huge fishermen of lures like that but want to get better. Thanks mate and looking forward to more videos!

    • @riverpiker
      @riverpiker  3 года назад +1

      Food question mate and to be honest o do change from time to time. It’s more having a lure to suit the fast running water. I like the salmo hornet because it’s got a big lip and digs in nice. But I’ve always been a fan of jointed minnows like the Tuco minnow. Used rapalas for years you can always trust them. The CD5 is a great choice and a classic but I do like this new batch including these shadow rap. With trout fishing I’ll be honest it’s not so much the lure looks, just that it whizzes past their nose and they just hammer it. But getting lures you trust is key and getting lures you know work in certain situations. Don’t forget to put a floating version in your bag so you can let it float down stream under a bush.
