    To purge the unit, I am pretty sure it is to purge water vapor from the air.
    You could put a small packet of silica gel inside of the unit but tape it to the inside so that it doesn’t move around and possibly obstruct the optics.
    Assemble the unit.
    That will suck up all the water in the unit and it will be trapped in the molecular structure of the silica gel .

    I'm sure glad I found your channel. My pvs7b would turn off after a few minutes. The tube is good so im going to replace the wired housing with a new one which I hope will fix the problem. My question is, where are you getting the o-ring and housing gasget? And do you need a gasket on each end of the intensifier tube? Your help would be appreciated. Thanks. You have a very informative channel. Great job. I'll ask about purging it later. When you purge yours that would be a great video also. Later

    Any recommendations on where to buy the image intensifier tube? I see them on eBay all the time but they always seem a little sketchy and not very trustworthy.

    is there any issue replacing the tube in normal lighting , would that cause any damage? considering one is not supposed to expose this during the day time ?

      as long as u have no batteries installed when replacing the tube it is fine. The tube can't get damaged by light if not powered.

      Not sure about gen 3 but I did exactly as that with gen 2 tube. Then it wont stop flickering every 3-4 sec and shuts off after that. I left the tube alone in darkness, in the safe, for 24hrs and turn on with the unit for 8 hours...also in total darkness. And it solved the flickering and shutting off issue. Scary, thought I lost it all.

    Guys any idea how to unscrew back objective lens without any additional damage? My set is screwed so tight I cannot move it without using brutforce and I don't wanna scratch lens.

    Sticks, I have a question about the build and so far you're the only one to mention it thus far. Can you DM me? I know, I'm 4 years late to the party..

    Hey man it’s simpler to purge than that an cheaper get a one way vacuum valve that screws into purge hole pull 25” vacuum n fill with nitro after evacuating it thru the same valve

    Hi...does unit work without gaskets?...does it work without purging?

    • @gemstun11
      @gemstun11 5 лет назад +1

      It would work without gaskets it just wont be waterproof and if you did have it nitrogen purged, it wouldnt hold the air and eventually be unpurged. It will work without purging with nitrogen but if you move the unit from cold to hot environments quickly, the unit will fog up untill some time has passed

    Anyone know of a way to convert tube from a pvs7 into a monocular housing?

    • @daepicpigeon3274
      @daepicpigeon3274 2 года назад

      Unfortunately this isn't really something that can be done as most monocular NV devices use a different style tube with different dimensions than a PVS-7, therefore a PVS-7 tube will not fit into a monocular. Monocular NV devices generally use either a 11769 style tube, or less commonly, a 10160 style tube. PVS-7s on the other hand use a 10130 style tube. However, AGM makes a monocular tube that I THINK uses a PVS-7 type tube called the Wolf-14. You're gonna want to do more research into that device to see about tube compatability though.

    My 7s won’t stop flickering. I checked everything. Don’t wanna send me out but I probably will have to. I’ve changed batteries, used a air duster. Nothing works

    New to nv. Do these work with out the intensifier or does that need to be purchased separately?

    • @Sticksm14

      Need the image intensifier. That is the main component. The rest is just lenses or power supply.
