Me and Taylor were pregnant at the same time. Due date one week apart... I watched all her vlogs and always compared her pregnancy and her experiences to mine. I called my son Eren and she called her son Levi?! I can’t stop laughing this is so amazing for me 😂

@@MsPaulisa im assuming it’s 承鋒 (pronounced as “sing4 fung1”, sorry if I butchered the official Cantonese spelling thingy, I did look it up but could be wrong x)
I’m assuming that’s the way to write the Chinese, I could be wrong as there’s various ways to write Chinese names that sound the same! But based on Elbow-san’s explanation, the first character has the ‘carrying’ meaning and the second has the ‘gold’ aspect to it!

@@lowbfung Gathered from Taylor at 2:41, they took the advice for the gold aspect from the 2 naming masters; Tom at 2:47, both characters belong to gold; Tom at 2:59 & 3:08, the meaning of the *pronunciation* (tone) of the first 2 words from his example, 乘風破浪 (sing4 fung1 po3 long6, which original meaning is to follow the wind and break the waves. Then, it also used as a metaphor for people with lofty aspirations, not afraid of difficulties, and forging ahead bravely), is quite meaningful...
I guess Levi's Chinese name characters are 鋮鋒, which match Tom at 3:11, sing4 doesn't mean anything special (I agree, if it was 鋮), and 3:19, fung1 is like... means the tip (edge) of the knife (so that's 鋒) 😀
Since Tom mentioned more than once *the pronunciation of the words* , I think he's using words with gold aspect and good meaning from the pronunciation of the words to name Levi's Chinese name... just guessing here 🤓

Levi is a great name! Made us think of AOT.. Everyone seems to be naming their children super unique names (Midnight, Wolfie) so this was a pleasant suprise

@@danaberries I have a friend who was a trainee, basically got cut by her company for dating. Idol culture is brutal, the stories I've heard from her are really dark. You can even see with what happened with Big Bang, and the Burning Sun scandals... It's nothing like what it's chalked up to be.

I’m a huge Attack on Titan fan, so the second you said “Levi” I was like, “Like Attack on Titan Levi?!?!”
I love it :) and I love that Chinese culture puts a lot of importance on it. Both his names are awesome, and I hope he grows into them.
I think it's so wonderful that you are integrating traditional Chinese aspects into raising your baby. I'm mixed race, I'm half Thai, and its absolutely a gift that my mother instilled in me the importance of my Thai culture. I grew up in Thailand and moved to the U.S. at the age of 7, and was so shocked how 'Americanized' the other Asian kids were. Their parents wanted them to fit in, but in doing so, they lost a lot of their cultural background. My American cousin married a half Chinese man, and he has 0 knowledge about his own family's culture or language, which is a shame, because Chinese culture is one of the most interesting and influential cultures.
It depends from person to person. Some people feel gifted and profit having experience in two different cultures and languages but for others it can be difficult and even more complicated. Especially when not one language is properly spoken but constant mixing.
Well not everyone asks to be born into the situation they're in, it's not something we can control. I couldn't control the fact I was born into a household where my mom's culture wasn't exposed to me. Does that make me less of a person? I don't think so, but your comment kind has underlying tones of superiority and judgement, which are not understanding towards other people's situations.

Chinese speaker here! I believe the name is 铖锋. It is the same phonetically as those letters in the proverb they talked about but not quite the same meaning. The first character represents pure gold and accomplishment. The second character is a more commonly used one in boy's names and like they said, represents bravery. Hope this helps!

@@georgisalmini1211 So the romanization is actually different with mandarin and cantonese since the characters are pronounced differently. In mandarin, it is romanized as Cheng Feng (which is how I typed the name out using the pinyin keyboard). In cantonese, like how they said the name in the video, it is romanized as Shing Fung.

Right after she had the baby I re-watched some of her past videos; her Japan time in baby doll and Rosie, vlogmas in Canada, moving to HK from Japan, her trips with Elbowsan to France. So much has happened, she has matured so much, become so real and enriched and has created a magnificent life overflowing with love, overcoming her personal adversities. Its impressive. She did herself proud. A proud mama who handles things like a lady😊

I remember feeling the same when we "graduated" from our IVF clinic (here in Australia) and said goodbye to the staff, leaving with our baby girl. We finished the roller-coaster ride that is IVF in 2020 with baby girl number two - our lockdown baby 👶 😊

His Chinese name reminds me of the Irish Blessing;
"May the sun shine warm upon your face; the rains fall soft upon your fields."
There's several thousand variations to it but the basic jist is, it's a blessing for good fortune, health and many blessings upon your hearth (the fields could be your home, your country, etc).
Also, he's such a cutie! And when he cried at 5:12 my one cat, Lou aka Mama Kitty, came running and was looking at me like "Mom? Do you have some explaining to do???!!!" x'D

Pumping 2oz from one boob is NOT a little amount. Anything from a half oz to 4 oz (from both sizes) is considered a great amount when you’re breastfeeding. At least this is what my midwifes in the states have told me.

My son is half Cantonese and half white, also named Levi! It is such a perfect name. He does get “Levi’s” like the Jean brand from some of his Cantonese family but it is nice and easy to pronounce!

I do not see the point to wake up at 2 am to pump your milk, during Carol giving bottle? Why not breastfeed directly? Why pumping your milk, put it in a bottle and somebody else give it to your baby? ( except when you are out of the house, of course). Babies can be confused because the process of sucking from a breast or from a bottle is not the same. Please explain it to me what is the goal?
