A month ago somebody on reddit asked for ideal watch. I said: something like fenix, with fenix software, mip display, thinner bezel and plastic backplate to save weight, and no solar layer over display. And here we are , enduro 3 is exactly what i wanted.
Its ugly. Which is fine if you dont care about that but if im forking over $900+ I want it to look good. The yellow on the watch the the wrist band are pretty meh. We are to the point where many different versions of Garmin will satisfy all but the most extreme athletes. Many versions have solid enough battery life to let you hike for days in various power modes to easily make it. The Fenix 8 looks beautiful IMO...if im going to spend that kind of money its going to look nice.
It's great to see MIP displays still making incremental gains. It's very slow, but still very noticable compared to say, six years ago on my FR 645. I will stick with MIP for this generation. I also hate all black data fields during activities!
@@del1313 Dude, even fenix 7 is better than 965 ,even the future 975 or even next generation...and you're tqlking about fenix 8 or e3, like nah...I'll stick to my 965...this is great🤣🤦♂️
the weight difference is mostly down to the wristband nylon vs silicone. the case only weights of the fenix 8 amoled titanium 43mm and 47mm are lighter than the enduro 3 and you can buy a separate light wrist band to get an overall lighter watch
I think that Garmin is nailing the point every year. Last year people ask for a microphone and speakers and now we have the fenix 8 with a fantastic amoled and all the feature that we need (and don’t need 😂). A sportwatch with some smartwatch feature. The enduro is for those who don’t want all the smart features (and the amazing display). Which is the best? It depends on what you want! 😉
This is even better than I was hoping for in a revised Enduro. I’ve owned the Fenix, Tactix, and Epix Pro series watches, all in 51mm, and the weight was bugging me (I try to wear the device 24 hours a day). As you mentioned, the weight difference is immediately noticeable in hand, and the included strap is very comfortable as well. The extra millimeter in thickness is visually noticeable, but not a big deal, given how light the device is. I also like the new button mechanism, which has a surprisingly good feel considering you’re not actually pressing anything inside the case. Home run, in my opinion.
Great watch. The Enduro has always been an awesome piece of tech and to me, the best Garmin ever. The price is steep, but then again I wasted almost as much on an Apple Ultra which I should have put towards this 😢 Great video too.
Love the AMOLED on the Fenix 8 but it's just not for me. I'm vain, I want my watch to look like a regular watch, not another phone on my wrist. Still loving my FR955, but the Enduro 3 would be on my wrist if something unfortunate was to happen to my 955
You’re right, share your experience. Don’t need the diving functions, don’t need a AppleWatch looks like display, hate the microphone… stable, durable Garmin… so much decision goes to Enduro 3.
Fantastic review. Sticking with my epix pro that’s lasted through my baby ultras no issues. Enduro 3 would be my choice if I were buying something from Garmin’s latest releases.
165mm circumference and Enduro 3 looks actually a lot better on your wrist then Fenix 8 47 on wrists with larger circumference that I have seen. Kind of crazy! Enduro 3 slowly grows on me...
So what's the difference between the enduro 3 and the fenix 8 51mm solar? Why does the enduro have such superior battery life? What benefits are you getting on the Fenix 8 solar 51mm that are causing less battery life?
Yeah it is my only complaint about F7pro. But I am getting used to it. Got it for a 60% of E3 price recently, if I bought it for more I would be a bit upset TBH. F8 makes no sense for me given the crazy price.
Its been a time seen video like yours! Please one task for you, try in same track Samsung Watch Ultra and Garmin Enduro 3, and take a picture, or part of vide, how they show maps on screen, during the walk, easy rau or marathon, swiming! Thanks in advance my man!
It's funny that most comments are about people staying with their previous watches but miraculously until Christmas everyone wears the newest ones. Have you noticed that Facebook Marketplace is full with Fenix 7s?😂 Personally I really like the look of both Fenix 8 and Enduro 3. I wonder if Instinct 3 is a bit useless now after seeing the Enduro 3. OK it will probably be half the price but Enduro is now both light and battery beast.
I have upgraded the Tactix Delta to a Tactix 7 Pro 2 months ago. I'm fine for the next quarter or so, 'til the Apple Watch Ultra 3 is out and the cycle begins all over 😂 I'll skill the Fenix 8 for sure, unless a Tactix 8 pro is out for xmas. 🎅
More money than sense? Haha I mean you do you, if you can afford it, but it just seems so wasteful. Sure a new watch is a little better, but they are rarely world changing, especially if they are just different flavours of the same watch...
Thank you a lot for the review! The demo showing how it looks on your wrist is very helpful. I want to update my FR245. It's good in its category and covers the majority of my needs, but I want maps and better navigation functionality. My main concern about the Enduro 3 is its size. I have a similar wrist size of ~17 cm (I’d buy a smaller 47 mm variant even without solar - don't really need it, but there is no such option - only Fenix 8 regular that is more expensive, and I’m not sure if there will be). So, I have some doubts about my next watch option: Forerunner 965 (possibly waiting for the 975) or Enduro 3. Maps on an AMOLED screen are certainly much better, but I cannot imagine a scenario where it’s too critical yet, battery is more important than a nice image on the screen currently.
staying with my fr965. Have same 1,4 display but are so much lighter and tinner like fenix 8 or enduro 3 and also cheaper.. Flashlight is minus and battery is worse but is still ok, 23 days is still great. fenix 8 and enduro 3 is just evolution not revolution.. if they have 1,5 display, max 13,5mm thicknes and not more like 65 grams, i will go for them, but they dont have. So garmin FR975 with 1,5 display amoled or mip, under 65 grams, under 13,5mm thicknes and with flashlight and under 700€ and you have bestseller.
No buyers remorse in getting a Tactix 7 amoled earlier this year. This does look preferable to an F8 as a back up for me, so light and battery that lasts for ages
Went with an Epix Pro, the deals are crazy good and the battery is good enough on the 51mm model. Maybe I wouldn't mind MIP if I didn't want to use the watch for mapping and navigation.
I actually sold my fenix 7 pro and got the Suunto Race S and I do not regret it. The 7 pro was and is great but the Suunto has and does everything I need. The Enduro 3 looks much better than the fenix 8 and the fact it's cheaper than the f8 solar is mind boggling lol but as good as the Enduro 3 is, I can't go back to all those button presses to find specific data. Garmin need a scroll wheel crown it's miles better.
I have an instinct 2x solar that I upgraded to from an Apple Watch earlier this year. I’m a lineman so I need something rugged but doesn’t have to be absolutely bulletproof, love my instinct but miss the functionality of something a bit smarter, thoughts?
How scratch-proof is the glass Dave? I ask because I have managed to scratch the glass on my 255 Music watch and am bit annoyed at myself as I am usually careful! Considering the Enduro 3 for batt life. Am presuming it does everything the 255 Music does and more. Same software etc?
I’m quite interested in the Enduro 3! I’ve got one question as it is not dive rated, what is the chance of it leaking water into the case after years for use? I’me not someone who does a ton of water activities, but just curious if it’s something to worry about or consider while in the market for a new watch.
I’m a bodybuilder and not an endurance athlete. Should i get the enduro 3 or should i get the fenix 8 solar 51mm? I’ve been told the fenix 8 is better for bodybuilding than the enduro 3 because it counts reps, sets and resting time and that the enduro 3 was made for endurance athletes in mind. I used to have a whoop and i sent it back. So i was looking for something that can provide me training readiness like the whoop. I was told that even the training metrics is not optimized for bodybuilding but for endurance athletes for the enduro 3. Which do you recommend i get as a bodybuilder?
garmin is like Porsche. It runs the track in ridiculously fast time and you are sure that it will not be able to set a better time next year. But instead of 1 second, they compete for 3-15 seconds. This is also Garmin. After Enduro 2, you would think that they would improve the fairing to normal. But we were wrong here too. Garmin is the best
I’ll stick with my Epix Pro Gen 2 for the moment. 34 days in smartwatch mode and a 50 miler only eats 25% of the battery. If I didn’t have it already, I’d choose the Enduro 3 over the Fenix 8 though….more bang for your buck re battery life.
This might be outrageous to ask but, is there any chance you can do garmin marq gen 2 commander smartwatch review? There are no actual reviews of it on yt, maybe because of how expensive it is 😅.
Hi, I'm an athlete and I practice canoeing/kayaking at the national level in Italy. I ask you if the Enduro 3 can be good for this type of sport and if there are other watches, again Garmin, that are perhaps cheaper. The Fenix 8, as you said in the video, costs way too much. I hope I wrote well in English
@@runmvp Another factor to consider though is what do they do with that data. Garmin collects the data and gives you so much relevant information. I've been with apple watch for 5 years. Plus the battery. My Apple watch series 8 died every day on a multi-day hike, while my garmin friends only had to charge 1-2 times over 8 days. Then on top of that, the GPS data it collected was all over the place. For smart watch, apple is the best. But I'm done being interrupted by my shiny watch. Time to go MIP/ solar + long battery.
Why is my coros pace 2 mip display so much more readable than any Fenix or instinct I've had? I have a 965 as well but i don't want OLED anymore. And why is Pace 2 more readable than Apex 2
Great video! You answered a lot of my questions. But with all that being said, if I wanted the amoled display and I don’t scuba dive and the speaker isn’t that important. What do you think about the Epix pro vs the fenix 8 since they will probably put the Epix on sale?
I really am interested to know the battery life when navigating a very long distance course with the map screen on just about all the time for the enduro 3 vs fenix amoled 47mm? I think DCr mentioned it was was only 20 hours for the fenix 8 because the map screen drains better more than other screens. Do you have any data on this issue as i participate in loads of ultramarathons and multiday adventures which require constant following gpx routes.
For those who don't dive deep, will they ever reduce the bezel like phones have, for more pixels? .. Or just project 3D hologram maps and have AR showing the pace/place of other runners.
@@ChaseTheSummit But the 51mm AMOLED lasts 29 days with AOD turned off, right? So if the Enduro can go from 36 to 90 days then surely the 51mm Fenix 8 can go from 29 days to something more like 60 days? Even if it only went up to 40 days it would still be worth it. I reckon it’s just a cost saving measure. Considering how outrageously expensive these watches already are, it’s probably for the best that they don’t offer a solar AMOLED model haha.
As someone who has a forerunner 745 and is planning to do some ultras (100m at most and Ironmans) would you suggest one of the new watches or the forerunner 965?
For 100 milers the Enduro 3 is a great option if you don't want to think about battery life. The 965 is one of my favorites... I ran a 100 last month without a problem wearing it!
'Fortunately' garmin connect is horrendous and my experience with Garmin bricking their devices (corroborated by forum users) mean I won't be buying this. Because honestly, if I had not used a garmin before and had _such_ a bad experience from the get go, this would be the watch to get. Coros has been lagging recently. Wonder what their next gen watches will be like, but at the moment it feels like they were a flash in the pan that changed watches for the better that maybe cannot keep up. Then again, suunto looked down and out and the vertical and race are great.
Yep, just bought a new Race S. The Enduro is awesome but it’s 2.5 times as expensive as the Race and $300 more than the top solar Vertical in my country. Thats a lot!
Hi. My name is Hernan and I am from Argentina. I want to ask if you recommend change my epix 2 47mm for the fénix 8, because the software update. Thanks
Would you be willing to measure true dimensions of this watch (and maybe 47 f8)? Most importantly lug to lug and thickness with sensors - Garmin measures it without them!
Metal at the back is awsome, I love the feel on my skin, better than the forerunner of my wife. And the titanium give a great patina with time. Even if its not the type of watches people keep for generation.
yes it is necessary to have a metal backplate for better durability. Imagine wearing your watch every day swimming with it in a pool or in the ocean. The salt and clorium will distort the plastic case.
It's due to the type of display (MIP vs OLED). In reality the difference isn't huge and only really noticeable when you're viewing small details on the map.
Thanks for this video. I had been wondering if the Enduro 3 would be worth upgrading to from Fenix 6X Pro and I can see that it definitely is. One question I had was regarding the usable display area of the Enduro 3's screen. It looks like it's maybe a bit less than the Fenix 8, like maybe the dark area of the solar collector around the periphery of the watch face reduces the display size. Is that correct?
@@ChaseTheSummit Ah, ok, that makes sense. It's a bit of an optical illusion. To my eye the display area looks a touch smaller but it's good to know that it's the same area that I'm used to on my Fenix 6X. I'm buying one for sure and I'll be sure to use your affiliate link. Cheers!
It doesn't matter too much but does the Enduro 3 have a skin temperature sensor? It's not listed on Garmin's website for whatever reason? I thought this was an odd omission. Thanks!
@@ChaseTheSummit dude you’re the GOAT. Thank you for always answering my questions on here. One last one, are the buttons on this watch feeling as durable as the 7 pro series?

I really am interested to know the battery life when navigating a very long distance course with the map screen on just about all the time for the enduro 3 vs fenix amoled 47mm? I think DCr mentioned it was was only 20 hours for the fenix 8 because the map screen drains better more than other screens. Do you have any data on this issue as i participate in loads of ultramarathons and multiday adventures which require constant following gpx routes.
Thanks for the video ! What about the watchfaces? Read somewhere they have removed the old ones 😢, can you confirm ?
The Enduro 2 watch face isn't on the new one. But there's a lot to choose from along with more you can download via Connect IQ.
For those who don't dive deep, will they ever reduce the bezel like phones have, for more pixels? .. Or just project 3D hologram maps and have AR showing the pace/place of other runners.
The Venu and Forerunner series feature pretty slim bezels. Too bad they don't have sapphire glass.
What about buttons, how they feel in comparison to the previous watch lineup Enduro 2/Fenix 7/7 Pro? Has anything changed?
Yes F8 is the best,it does everything
That solar charging is fantastic. It’s a shame they don’t offer it on the AMOLED models.
From what they told me it’s not possible on amoled due to the power consumed form amoled. It would be cool though!
Love my Epix2 pro 51
Don’t think it’s worth changing from Epix pro 51mm yet?
When Fenix 8 Solar?
Only in November?
Even if its not the type of watches people keep for generation.
if enduro 3 and fenix 8 amoled had the same price what would you prefer?
I have a heavy preference for AMOLED so I'd lean that way but if you need the battery life the Enduro is the way to go.
Please test solar charging against enduro2 or any other last gen devices.
Thanks
Lots more to come!
Want the best watch get the 965 in my opinion.
Would love to see this in 47mm.
this is a "Pre-Order" on play better. Where can I get this watch now?
yes it is necessary to have a metal backplate for better durability. Imagine wearing your watch every day swimming with it in a pool or in the ocean. The salt and clorium will distort the plastic case.
Did they upgrade the processor to make things a little more snappy/less laggy?
Same CPU but the UI feels a little smoother.
Question: the Enduro 3 screen has about half the number of pixels as the Fenix amoled. How does this affect the detail and resolution of the maps?
It's due to the type of display (MIP vs OLED). In reality the difference isn't huge and only really noticeable when you're viewing small details on the map.
is it worth to upgrade from Enduro 2?
Thanks for this video. I had been wondering if the Enduro 3 would be worth upgrading to from Fenix 6X Pro and I can see that it definitely is. One question I had was regarding the usable display area of the Enduro 3's screen. It looks like it's maybe a bit less than the Fenix 8, like maybe the dark area of the solar collector around the periphery of the watch face reduces the display size. Is that correct?
Both have 1.4” displays
The display is still 1.4" instead of eating into the display area they ate into the bezels by slimming the metal bits to make room for the solar ring.
Cheers!
Dave no giveaway?
Why is the clock on the watches not synchronized to the same time (1-30 seconds apart)?
It doesn't matter too much but does the Enduro 3 have a skin temperature sensor? It's not listed on Garmin's website for whatever reason? I thought this was an odd omission. Thanks!
Yes it does. I noticed it was missing on the site too... Strange.
@@ChaseTheSummit thanks, appreciate it!
So does the new enduro 3 also have the new strength training plans that come in the fenix 8 series?
Yes
@@ChaseTheSummit dude you’re the GOAT. Thank you for always answering my questions on here.
One last one, are the buttons on this watch feeling as durable as the 7 pro series?
@@skymalotte it feels similar in durability except for the missing metal back plate which I don’t think is a big deal.
Is leak proof buttons are game changer for surfing? Google show a lot of problems with salt and dust for regular buttons. I am new to garmin world.
It could be. I'm not a surfer but if I spent a lot of time in the water I'd probably lean towards the Fenix 8 for that purpose.
I wish this was 47mm.
Text/number size seems greater withbsame 4 data page in Fenix 8 than Enduro 3…??
