Nothing scares me quite as much as the Dealer seeing two blanks and one live round in the chamber, drinking two colas and emptying two blanks, before shooting himself in the face for some bizarre reason.
His tactics frighten and confuse me.
The Dealer : *My Goal are Beyond you understanding*
technically impossible because of how the AI is built
His tactic are “I’m going to do this crazy combo here and then flip a coin for if I shoot you or me. Let’s have fun.”

Those scissors dont just cut off the display letting you know how man lives you have, it cuts off the defibrillator keeping you alive after a shot.
I actually learned this on the first or second playthrough of the last round, since he could smoke 3 packs and still die to a non-sawed shot. Also logically it only makes sense, you can hear him get zapped after you shoot him.
Something that no one ever mentions is how GOOD the music and sound design in this game is, it’s phenomenal
approve this! transition game so smooth, lowpass effect when you’re inside is top notch 😮💨

I feel like Buckshot roulette is going to be the next "Iron lung" if you know what I mean. Its a very simple yet amazing game that has the possibility to be extended further and become a very big hit. The gameplay possibilities combined with the very high replayability value of the game is like the perfect mix for a hit game.
Another parallel I hope happens is that someone makes a film, but that might be a stretch.
That funny moment when one man devs can still out do these AAA companies when it comes to having simple fun
@@Bredstikc Nah it could definitely work.
*New Markiplier Movie Coming Soon...*
@@mr.banana5627I'm still unsure, is it legit movie that would be on Cinemas or something?
Something that you missed was at the ending for the final round, where you're sent to that wasteland. Those spikes are very reminiscent of a form of hostile architecture indicating nuclear waste. It's meant to act as a warning that whatever lies here is very dangerous, trying to transcend any language or cultural barrier. I'm not sure the implications ingame, but my best guess is that it's trying to discourage you from clicking "retry" at the risk of having you return there again.
I never noticed that detail
Plot twist: Buckshot Roulette is a prequel to Ultrakill
@@bowldawg4394 Oh nah we gettin' sent to hell for blood again 💀
A theory I've seen floating around is that that is the remains of Heaven without God at the helm - given you have to enter through gates.
@@pazzieanneknexx809 Yes, that's obvious. Minaxa himself said so point blank. But I always wondered why Mike went with spikes instead of any other design. I've never seen spikes to represent a barren wasteland before. Now I know why.
The "Landscape of Thorns" is actually quite terrifying. It's meant to last 10,000 years to serve as a warning to never go there, as the nuclear waste interred beneath the earth will outlast any written warning signs humanity could create. In 10,000 years, English will likely no longer exist, just as all languages from 10,000 years ago no longer exist.
That nuclear waste will be deadly for 100,000 years after that.... that's the same length as the entire timespan of humanity's existence as we know it.

Honestly when I first heard of this game I thought it would cost $5 or $8, but no it is $1.20. This game seems to have such great value along with its creativity, but sadly I am much too chicken for horror games which makes me sad.
The best part is that there’s nothing particularly scary here, maybe a bit unsettling but nothing actually scream or nightmare inducing, and that’s coming from someone who normally steers well away from anything horror adjacent
other than having the unsettling face of the dealer looking at you the game has nothing scary. Hell even after a while the sight of the dealer adjust to your eyes eventually and the game pretty much just becomes a gambling game.
The game is definitely not the kind of horror that has jumpscares or really horrible imagery. The scariest thing is technically the dealer, but only due to the appearance and, while creepy-looking, isn’t all that terrifying once you get used to it.
The dealers a pretty chill dude, plus he looks goofy without the vfx.
You literally saw the gameplay so if that scares you then this us not for you
I observed something while watching others play buckshot roulette that they don't seem to notice (or at least mention it) very often, the fsct that after the dealer gets shot/shoots himself once, his face gets completely disfigured and twisted, which i think is s really cool little detail, makes you wonder what you look like after your first blow to the face haha
There's an "all secrets" video floating around that actually rips the models out of the game, and a) The Dealer looks very different without the in-game filtering over its model, but most importantly b) you can actually see that Mike modeled The Dealer to have concave features when it's shot, rather than just a flatly messed-up face.
Honestly this game really reminds me of the theme of inscryption of ‘a game but taken to a whole another degree’. Both in horror/creepy aspect and/or making more elaborate rules ontop of the original concept.
I really hope the dev brings it to steam, it would attract a huge playerbase there
edit: Someone mentioned this in the replies, and honestly a multiplayer mode would work pretty well as a side game mode. Not much of a horror, but a fun mode nonetheless

I saw another youtuber theorizing the game being about gambling addiction, and I agree with that, but I also think it's about addiction *itself* too. Gambling, like drinking, drug usage, smoking, is an *addiction* , and you're ultimately and willingly gambling with your life against the dealer. But like with every addiction, you can and *will* keep coming back, no matter the risk, no matter if it puts your life on the line. Addiction can feel like a high risk high reward situation, but like it shows in ending 3, shit doesn't always go well.
For double or nothing, you can get an even higher reward, but deal with the even higher risk.
I agree with this. That's why the dealer is so fair to the point of self-sabotage, and why he's so monstrous. Addiction acts similarly. It makes you feel like you can always win no matter what, that you can beat it easily so there's no reason not to take the risk. But obviously that's not how it works. It WANTS B you to come back. If you OD, you often get another chance, one that you inevitably waste going back to do it again.
I haven't seen anyone else mention this but in the double or nothing mode right when you get to the end the yes button is a-lot more corroded than the no button showing that many people before you had tried their luck and failed. Timestamp for anyone wanting to take a look: 14:50
I like how markiplier absolutely shit on this dude in one playthrough then deadass said "So is there a hard mode?"
While pezzy and droid are losing their minds
I would hardly call it visually reminiscent of lethal company, I think it takes a lot of its DNA from Inscryption tbh
This would be so fun in multiplayer. And in VR
Just yesterday Mike Klubnika updated the game adding a Hardmode that also gives you the option to keep playing with a, 'double or nothing' deal. Having been following Mike's work over the last 2 years this is the first ive seen of him doing this kind of thing with his games
the heaven area kind of reminds me of those long term nuclear waste places. you know "this is not a place of honor"
You are insane for using undertale as your example of "generic save state" btw
me when i do a little trolling
I mean, in a sense, it is one of the games most known for its save mechanic
When they screen gets cut off. When your opponent's health is low. On the final round. That means it's the end. When you finally shoot your opponent, they're gone for good. That's buckshot roulette, baby.
When you get shot in the game, you can almost feel the impact yourself. It’s actually quite scary-
I think sawing off the barrel of a shotgun to do more damage makes perfect sense
Craziness
It widens the spread of the bullets after leaving the barrel, which just makes it easier to hit a shot usually, not make it more powerful necessarily… but then again, defibrillators revitalizing a man who just had his face turned into flesh confetti, cigarettes providing health, and cleanly cutting a shotgun barrel with a handsaw also don’t really make sense, soo…
@@notsusanna7485cutting off the barrel allowing for the spread of *pellets* to be wider would increase the spread of the damage, where as the full barrel would tighten the spread, so yes it actually does make sense, as you can imagine having multiple locations/a larger area of damage does tend to be more lethal than a concentrated point, albeit it's pretty dependent on where the impact happens obviously.
Yaknow something worth mentioning, is that the cas prize of somewhere around 40000 isn’t really that much when you consider the steaks. It’s not enough for a new car, or a house, and is likely going to be burnt through a bit faster than the protagonist may like. This would also tie into gambling not being worth it, throughout the game you have zero clue what the reward is, you sign a release of responsibility contract for seemingly no reason and then are presented with a shotgun and rules. Worst of all, the dealer is like you said, not fair, he isn't seemingly playing for anything, no money, no prize, nothing. What's he playing for? It literally looks like, from the players perspective, a decision you've been hyping yourself up too, literally kicking the door down and signing the waiver with little hesitation.
I thought it was interesting that you can survive a shotgun shot to the face by getting a defibrillator charge

I would also like to say that each item minus the magnifying glass also has a bit of a luck aspect, the cigs give you back a charge but there is always the chance that new charge gets wasted by your or the dealer's hand, the beer skips the current shell, but there is always the chance you skip a one you want or the next shell being the one you don't want, the handcuffs skipping the dealer's turn could make it so you can lose a charge if he shoots you and it's a live shell, and the saw could very well be wasted if you got unlucky and got a blank
One thing that I don't see anyone talking about or mention is that blank shells still go bang when fired. Technically speaking those "blank shells" are actually dud shells.
I, as a recreationall gambler, would say that gamblers might be good at this game, since we have strategy and know how to play with stadisticks. I haven't lost in the game just yet, and ive played it multiple times. I loved the game, ithas some tension qnd excitement.
The place you said could be heaven reminded me of the “this is not a place of honor” sketches.
Also on a completely unrelated note, my main playlist is called Russian Roulette (for comedy reasons) and so I always forget how dread-inducing the concept technically is
Your delivery in this vid I really enjoy, keeping with the serious tone, but with your jokes now and then just adds to the well done editing and scripting of the video
honestly? in Buckshot Roulette I was mostly just jamming out to the music, and the "Uh-oh you seem to be running low on Energy and keep on losing it!" edit of the club theme sends shivers down my spine every single time. It's simple, it's short, but it's tense as all heavens.
What's the worst that can happen?

I wonder how much more content will be added to Buckshot before it’ll be on Steam. Online multiplayer will definitely get this game popular. I wish there were more than 1 dealer to play against. Select a level in the elevator and your ready to go.
Pro fact! 99% of gamplers quit gambling just before winning it big !
Only problem I have with this game is that the dealer talks of live rounds and blanks. A blank is a round without a projectile, which still has powder. So if the rounds truly were blanks, there would still be a loud bang upon firing it and there would be hot gas blasted into your face. The "blanks" in this game are more akin to duds or dummy rounds.
Blanks sound a tad bit more intimidating than dummy rounds, does it? Rolls off the tongue better. I'd give it a pass as it abides by the rule of cool (and potentially cool of rule)
Snap caps are athing but if you arent familiar with firearms you would call them blanks
Their just dummy rounds that are called Blank rounds. That's what I think it means anyways. Also, Blanks sounds way better than Dummy or Dud
@@dr.consumerock6798 well yes blank does sound better, but still, a blank is something entirely different.
@@DeandreSteven
A blank is a firearm cartridge that, when fired, does not shoot a projectile like a bullet or pellet, but generates a muzzle flash and an explosive sound (muzzle report) like a normal gunshot would.
Heyyyy, watched some of your videos for the first time ever and I LOVE your content!! Especially going over horror games and their sick twists and lore! Thank you for the cool thought out videos!
Loved the simplicity of this video, Good job man
I really love this game, it’s so cool with its effects and suspense it’s so cool.
The "You Are Dead" scene makes me think of the spike field nuclear warning, designed by Michael Brill.
I just learned about that. It's a terrifying concept, and the actual field of thorns itself even more so.
It feels like people just... *forgot* that inscryption exists? Seriously, play both and tell me theres no shared dna there. Inspiration from eachother, or shared inspiration, either way, the parallels are huge, and REALLY good. I think it's got the makings of a new genre.
i find the portrayal of heaven- as you called it- in this game pretty interesting. it's very reminiscent of nuclear architecture, made to warn future humans of danger due to nuclear waste. maybe the creator was trying to convey a sense of fear and ruin, or maybe he was trying to say "there is nothing of honor here" like another proposed warning would. very interesting
Ok, so a little lore for 6:39 . There are thousands of theories with that specific thing, but many theorize that the dealer played against god, and god losing the battle, which also caused people to theorize about when you die on round three, being a, quote “place that people who lose to the dealer go”, due to the dealer presumably beating god, gaining control of heaven.
I honestly have a theory on where after you beat the dealer in the three rounds you end up *becoming* the dealer in what is essentially an endless cycle
this game is like early inscryption in feel and environment, I'm hoping the dev tries to take a similar route as that game did turning it into a full game
About 4:19 it's not really that simple. Yes you have 2/3 chance to shoot a blank at yourself but after that there's 1/2 chance to pick the right choice. In both rounds there is a chance to get damaged, first 1/3 second 1/2. If you choose to shoot dealer there's 100% chance that you won't shoot yourself and 1/3 that dealer gets damaged. After that the dealer has 50% chance to pick the right choice. This means that it's actually better to always shoot the first one at the dealer. If it's a blank it's 50% chance he gets the right choice. In short if you choose yourself it's 1/3 chance to get shot and then 1/2 chance to get shot but if you choose the dealer then it's 1/3 chance he gets shot and then 1/2 chance either you, or him gets shot. As it is the first round I do not count the items.
Cool video. Not many I've seen went into the lore like you did here. I'd never even seen the game over screen before
THATS COMEDY GOLD 5:03 SUBBED , i would recommend playing the new endless mode it lets you get infinite money
The idea is insaneley cool and i love how its executed, the sound design is phenomenal, the music slaps and i love how intense the gameplay is , It made me so invested in the diffrent mechanics and the fact that its only 1 dollar is criminal
Also the dealer is based , hes such a cool character
EDIT : nevermind you know abt the update
Awesome video man it deserves more views
This dev's entire catalogue is great. The phone call you get in Concrete Tremor still haunts me.
i love how the ad played right after the where he shot hismelf (4:38)
This would be a good 1 vs 1 multiplayer game

Something else disturbing is that whe you take the pills an you are given the choice of double or nothing, the yes button Is smudged with use while the no button Is almost pristine. Great environmental storytelling
you know, i put off watching this video for a month, in that month i got a minor gambling addiction, thank you for this explanation of the game and of gambling in general. I was just thinking of it as "really expensive gaming" but with a hope to win
hell yeah i love creativity man
I’d like to note there’s another bottle of pills in the bathroom on the air dryer/paper towel holder
A possible hint at another update to come?
Endless mode was a necessity but I’d really love to see something else, maybe PvP roulette, extra opponents to face, 4 player roulette (person or npc), hard mode with no items and no defib for you, but items and defib for the dealer, endurance mode where you keep going until you die and your charges don’t reset (you can heal but it’ll never reset on the next round) kinda like endless mode but you don’t get the cash money out of it, maybe a mode with a revolver instead of a shotgun for the classic Russian roulette experience
There’s a few options here
a nice touch is the face of the dealer changes when he gets shot.
I haven’t really paid attention to the game yet but now I feel like it
Quick thing, your first round actions were actually correct. Unloading a blank on the first shot of round 1 puts the game in a 50/50, regardless of whos shooting, so its best to take your shot at the dealer while you can still affect your chanses. Its unintuitive, but I thought you might be happy to know you (albeit accidentally) did the correct action.
I liked this video, but it *is* a bit misleading using steam UI in the thumbnail when it's only out on itch.
If I remember correctly, apparently the bathroom at the start of the game is a reference to the bathroom that David Leatherhoff starts at in Andreas Rönnberg's first Half-Life horror mod Afraid of Monsters, like it's kinda meant to be a 1-1 recreation of that bathroom. And if you know anything about Afraid of Monsters, it's a game about a man trying to deal with his drug addiction.
Thank you for making this, I wouldn't have thought about buying this game otherwise.
Damn a short film like that old papers please one would be sick for this game
It is 2 am and instead of sleeping I watched this
i love how it isn't on steam so the owner can actually get all his money and not have steam take off
Why does everyone get round 3 wrong? It’s not making the charge count invisible, it’s saying there are no more charges. One shot you’re dead.
This was ver good video u-u
Actually ☝️🤓 when you shoot a blank, it still has the power of the gunpowder, just no projectile: but whatever is in front of the barrel becomes the projectile. So not gonna have a good time if you pull a blank on your skull
Buckshot roulette is one of those ideas so simple and good that I am amazed no one has done it yet.
Why was Russian roulette always a revolver? There’s so many ways you can play it, and a shotgun is awkward to point at yourself making the act of pulling the trigger that much harder. It’s great.
Amazing video! Now I finally know what's the game about 😄
I’ve always seen buckshot roulette like a game of cards, no matter how many times you play something different will happen
Please don't put the steam "add to cart" button on the front... that game is not on steam as of right now...
It can’t be on steam

A very cool detail is the Yes button for Double or Nothing is worn down from being pushed so much. Nobody presses No when they’re in a winning streak.
Fun fact: blanks are also lethal in close range
btw if he finishes the game once he can click on the pill bottle in the bathroom, that unlocks the new game mode meant to be harder than the original, then after he finishes that harder mode during the mode the will be double or nothing.
This would be even better if there was a multiplayer mode

I genuinely got jumpscared by myself at 1:10
This game is such an addictive high stakes feeling
"If I were thinking purely logically I would have pick myself" except thinking purely based on the proba you would have picked the dealer(2/3 to shoot the dealer if you pick him first against 1/3 if you pick yourself first, its due to the fact that it doesn't matter who have the shotgun after the first shot : it's 50/50).
Hope this help someone.
The game rewards you not just for gambling, getting lucky, and then winning. You get rewarded for drinking and smoking more too. Those two items specifically, none of the other many items. It’s addiction in general. The more times you kick open the door to come back (gambling), the more times you shoot (adrenaline/gambling), the more times you drink and smoke (substance), it’s all rewarded for when you finally win.
