For those who think I'm being a dick to Tyler (even though I pretty much just call him cringe and make fun of his hilarious writing), here's a list of things he did I compiled by doing surface level research: - He stole images of Candy from Emil Macko's deviant art, attempted to copyright the character, rename it Sugar, and pass it off as his own. - He stole Scott's code numerous times instead of figuring out how to do it himself. (this is illegal) - He claimed his girlfriend was his sister and that they had sex on multiple occasions and jerked off on camera with one another. - Has a self-insert in basically every game, which was fine until Frankburt's where he made stripper variants of his and his ex GF's OCs, Lockjaw and Kitty Fazcat, post breakup. - Faked his death for publicity around the release of the fourth game - Kept pushing everyone who attempted to help him away (around TRTF5 era and beyond) because he couldn't handle anything in the games that wasn't his own vision. - Dismissed any genuine criticism on The Road That Falls as people being "jealous haters". - From what I can find, he is just genuinely a very unpleasant person to interact with and is generally not a great person. He definitely suffers from mental illness but it's not an excuse for his actions. Now you can stop calling me a bad person just for making fun of someone's bad writing. I didn't feel this stuff had any place in my video, I guess that was a mistake.
I can see why people are calling you a bad person cause you are going in on him (which is deserved) but what it does just brings down the video from a documentary style essay to a werid mix of edgy and forced interactions that got tiring after 10 minutes
He was like 14 to 16 when making TRTF volume 1 or something and the cringe really shows. Fnaf was made by an adult while TRTF was made by a child who’s mommy told him a bunch of lies so he doesn’t game end himself every 5 minutes. Probably
I think the best thing about the whole "slipped on a bar of soap" thing is that because the sprite is so low-rez and there's no indication of what it is, people legit thought for a while that it was a fucking stick of butter, which just makes it even better
The older I get, the more endeared I am by the passion projects of teenagers. It's legitimately very cool Tyler loved FNAF enough to try making his own entires in the series. His behavior is also why I think even minor fame is so destructive for kids.

@@vannyblutea yeah, I honestly doubt he was more than 14-15yo when he made those games, and thats honestly pretty good considering im not even able to do anything near to what he did in those games.
The best Trtf moment has to be when Gron (the green jester dude), after being caught torturing a random kid by his friend the Purple Guy, slips with a soap on the floor and falls right into the Golden Lockjaw suit, suffering an horrible dead.
i remember witnessing a lot of the events and drama behind TRTF unfold, back when i browsed GameJolt religiously. it's such a weird bookmark of the history of FNAF fangames
You can't be a real fan of FNaF fangames if you haven't ever religiously browsed through Gamejolt way too often and downloading a shit ton of fangames just to either forget about them for a month or complete them all in a day or four max 💀
Okay, so we're all gonna act like Super Cancer isn't something that would totally show up in a Fazbear Frights books. Come to think of it, wasn't that part of a simulation in Tales from the Pizza Plex?
Yes there was a story where a simulation showed everyone getting cancer then birthing goo babies that melt together into one big Baby who attacks the person experiencing the simulation
@@riseoflion2104 One of the Tales of the PizzaPlex books has a child go into an unfinished AR simulation room at the PizzaPlex to celebrate a birthday party, but after she leaves, everyone on Earth starts to develop cancer and nobody seems to care, to the point of the news just calmly reporting on millions of deaths every day, and she repeatedly wonders if she's still stuck in the simulation or not. The story is called "Under Construction".
TRTF is like that one family member that nobody wants to invite to the family reunion. They're not banned, but there's noone else in the family who wants to send them an invite.
I'm positive someone's already said but I'll add my two cents about the Gron's name. Considering that Tyler's surname is Ahlström, which is Swedish in origin, I'd bet he has some family or similar that speak the language. I say this because the word "Grön" in Swedish means, wait for it... Green. I mean, at least it's a tiny bit clever, as well as on brand for the fandom naming guys after their color, lol.
I should also add grons last name as well, Takaliken. According to the wiki, "liken" means corpse in swedish, so it implies that grons full name means "The green corpse". Kinda ironic imo.
I was at the hispanic talking part of the community when this happened, many of the theorists were kids who couldn't understand english, like me. I remember getting so confused because everyone believed these games we're official for a while and there was hundreds of theories trying to make sense of whatever this was
This is taking me back to when I was slowly gaining the ability to differentiate fan and official projects as a kid I really appreciate fnaf fangames for this
In elementary school, there was always the occasional fnaf talk where other kids would talk about their fnaf theories, usually stripped straight from game theory. One thing that was brought up was the idea that all the animatronics were destroyed by the military, which confused me for several years. Any time i returned to the series I would think why the hell a theory like that would even come up. Nice to know its cuz of goddamn tyler
for those who might be confused about the trtf1 game using candy in the game despite fnac not existing yet, it was emil macko who uploaded a few renders of the candy animatronic on social media. basically, the candy renders came before the game, and tyler used it despite it belonging to emil macko.

You need to make a video on Dormitabis. The creator was actually really creepy and messed up. He made his own version of William Afton, named Garvey, for the series that was a necrophile and a child predator. The disgusting thing ab that was, Garvey was based on the creators own fetish's and desires. When I found that out, it completely shocked/disgusted me. I can never look at that game the same way ever again.
Thats actually really common in the fnaf developer community. i mean in radience the owner is a pedophile. and they know other devs that are part in this whole huge pedo circle.

TRTF was actually one of my favorite fan games growing up. As a kid, the lore didn’t really matter that much, so back in 2015/16, the visuals and unique gameplay is what really stood out to me. Thanks for making this video, because someone had to eventually. (edit: I actually still have them on my PC lol)
I also had an obsession with the fan game as well. I liked lockjaw and especially the gameplay. It was perhaps my most liked fan game based around Fnaf.
Honestly the fact that the first game this guy ever played was 'The Wrath of Cortex' explains so much. Edit: also hearing somebody call the Purple Guy 'Vincent' just grabbed me by the balls and threw me back into my cringey fnaf past of 2014.
Yeah, 2014 was an era of Vincent. Along with the other nightguard having their own personalities. Vincent is now what the Gacha ppl call Glitchtrap so William can avoid responsibility for his crimes.
I remember there was a pretty cool fnaf multiplayer fangame on mobile called vincent I don't remember much details, but it was really cool and I was never able to play it cause my device was ass
Not gonna lie, the disturbing atmosphere and unsettling music on some of those minigames is what kept me going back to the saga back then. Also a shoutout to the uncanny modelling of 2. It looked really rough, but added to the uncanny feeling of the game in an unintentional genius move.
While that last part has merit, the visuals look too crappy for me to be uncanny in a good and creepy way. I like to describe the animatronics in 2 as looking like they're made of wood.
@@troin3925 hm, yeah they do kind of look like they're made out of wood. If you really want scary stuff go check out Porkchops Adventure, plus the upcoming sequel Porkchops Horror Show. It rarely has jump-scares but the tension is there when it's all quiet and it feels like someone's watching you.

This was a wild trip down memory lane. Got absolutely jumpscared hearing my own voice from the TRTF3 phone call halfway through the video LOL. I was Tyler's friend back throughout the dev of TRTF3 and 4, so this was a fun watch. I fell out of the fandom shortly after FNAF World came out though and lost contact with him a bit before that IIRC, so hearing everything that came after the fact blew me away. I had no idea there was a whole ass novel, too. Either way, great video!
Huh, it's interesting to see someone actually involved with these games in some way! I wasn't into FNaF back in 2015, so I wouldn't have known what TRtF was. When I finally did, TRtF was already well and truly dead, and I got hooked because of just how batshit crazy it is. I keep coming back to it because I am always left with more questions than answers. Then I downloaded TRTF 1 and I love it, bc it was the best way I could be close to what the original fnaf gameplay was about.
I know this video's been mocking the entire series' quality, but I genuinely think that Lockjaw is a genuinely neat name and design despite the similarities to Springtrap. I like the neat play on the lumberjack motif. Even the name "Lockjaw" feels like a subtle play on how the word "lumberjack" is structured being a compound word that has "L" and "J' being the first letters to their respective simple words.
Lockjaw has a pretty cool design especially in TRTF 3, the TRTF 3 designs in general are actually pretty cool designs, I would dare say they look better than the TRTF 4 models
Out of all of the designs in the series, Lockjaw is definitely one of the better ones. Which isn't saying much considering how the other animatronics look, but you get what I mean.
Lockjaw/Frankburt is actually a pretty cool concept. It is a forgotten humanoid and vintage animatronic from the 50's that was scrapped and cut out from the cast, then turned into a urban legend of the Fazbear establishments. This is a concept that in my opinion, is genuinely the only good thing about TRTF. It's interesting that you made some kind of connection between the name Lcokjaw and lumberjack, but to me Lockjaw actually reminds me of the Abraham Lincoln animatronic or a bit of Pinocchio for some reason. I would like to add that the concept of The Beast or The Unknown is pretty neat aswell, it can be pretty cliche you may say but in my opinion it is a cool idea. A massive tank in the shape of an animatronic, a killing machine whose hand is a four-edged metallic blade, it's unknown if it is actually an animatronic or not in fact, since it is quite to excentric for one hence it's namesake "The Unknown", a largely powerful and three headed monstrosity and simply one the most dangerous machines to ever exist. These are pretty interesting ideas that I find could atleast be reutilized for good use.
I know a lot of this guys actions were questionable but let’s remember he started making these games when he was 14, a literal child… so that kinda explains everything. Edit: lmao all the 14 & unders replying “I’m not like other kids” 😭 sorry y’all kids r just stupid idk what to tell you??
He did try his best with The Return to Freddys, but it was how he did it that caused his downfall. I can't hate on what happened, because he was someone with a dream, and sometimes achieving that dream will have lots of bumps in the road.
Wise words. Hopefully when desolation comes out Tyler will redeem himself (not that he has to too much as I’ve forgiven him for some of his past actions and it was cool of him to make trtf 5 open source)
Exactly dude was a kid of course he didnt know what to do with models story etc. He was just very ambitious. Idk it feels weird to call it cringe and cancer or edgy, he was a teenager like what
This series holds a special place in my heart for the amount of drama and weird things going on during it's lifecycle. It even influenced a younger me to create their own FNAF like story. I remember the shit that went down during the development of TRTF 5 and onwards, I honestly believed that TRTF would be left for the community to handle until I saw that trailer recently, hopefully this will be better right?... Right?
As someone who was apart of some of the friend groups Tyler was in (even went as far as to talk to Tyler in a call at one point) I can tell you that there was a lot of behind the scenes drama that happened during all of the games' development. And it all stems from what the FNAF community was like back then. FNAF inspired A LOT of kids to become game developers. And most kids aren't the wisest despite thinking they are. So a lot of fights went down that I witnessed (and was even apart of at some points). Pointless flamewars over things like "which game engine is better" or straight up ego battles over who's better. I personally never had any problems with Tyler, however I knew a lot of people that did. And while I don't think he's a bad person, he's definately got issues... issues that sadly affected others in the community. This was a great video and a lot memories were unlocked while watching
I'm glad to admit that leaving the bizarre phenomenon that was a fan game is a bold move for me. I'd rather not dig deep into what I've seen from the creator's outlandish actions behind closed doors because it would've soiled my reputation had I stayed a little while longer. I'm a grown up adult now, and locking the past away is key to building a brighter future. I wouldn't be so surprised if TRTF faded into obscurity and gets ultimately wiped off the face of the community.
When FNAF came out, I was so intrigued by it (I was 13), that I wanted to create my own game like it. I wanted to avoid any form of plagiarism tho, so I ended up designing a free roam, urban exploration game, where you would avoid running into ghosts by using CCTV monitoring cameras. Then FNATI came out... and then FNAA... and finally, FNAF 3 fanmade. I've ended up making my own "FNAF 4 fanmade" game, because I thought it was an okay thing to do. Surprisingly, despite having crude hand-drawn graphics, with roblox models mixed in, and having gameplay features ripped straight from the FNAF 2... it became a small short-lived success. The early FNAF community is so fascinating to me from the sociological point of view.
The video starts out so neutral on its subject matter but quickly devolves into a disappointed older brother saying _Tyler_ with barely disguised frustration.
What started as some kids passion project turned into a memorable amalgamation of assets random code and senseless writing to make a fan game saga so weird and convoluted that it will always be a classic

That correction threw me off guard so hard because even during editing it wasn't caught because there's a zoom in to the "it's" as if it was the main thing wrong with the sentence. It would always "*It is* (the) year 2036". It's not trying to say it's the investigators year or anything, just that what year it is.
Hearing "super cancer" just made me burst out laughing because it sounds so unreal that THAT was the core of the book plot. Bruh my dad had a better cancer story, in which he beat it by his heart taking him out instead of the cancer. Fuck you cancer, you didn't get to take a life this time!
I'm pretty sure the reason the green thing's called "Gron" is because Tyler's got Norse roots (Swedish, I think?) and "Grön" means "Green". He literally just called the green character Green.
Honestly I can relate to Tyler He was a kid who was inspired by the franchises around him to make stories himself only to find out how difficult it truly is but he still kept going and broadening the scope of what his stories are capable of I hope he finds success and happiness

I know now that the TRTF series was kind of bad but back in the day reading TRTF lore and playing the games was lot of fun and I have a lot of fond memories
Tylers lastname makes me think that words like "gron" and "_radsla_" are Swedish words. Gron (actually grön) which means green, and radsla (actually rädsla) meaning fear. Very creative names.
I'm glad that The Return to Freddy's is still getting some recognition, it's still one of my favorite fan-game series of all time (even after the hilariously bad, and very bad things that surrounded this game's development). Also, I find the setting of _RADSLA_, one of the games in Volume 2, very interesting. It takes place in Japan in the year 1942. *1942* This FNAF game takes place in WW2 era Japan, not even one year after the Japanese attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor...
Ah, fancy seeing you here! Didn't know you knew about this series too. I got into it because it's so utterly ridiculous that I just can't help but be drawn to it. And yeah, your thoughts on _RADSLA_ are mine exactly. Who knew that some top-secret facility in 1942 Japan had technology advanced by even 2023 standards! I mean, to put that into context, steam-powered technology, like steamships and steam locomotives, were still in widespread use. Yeah, something tells me that Tyler isn't aware of the most basic of world history. Somehow seemed completely unaware that an *ENTIRE WORLD WAR* was going on when one of his games was supposed to take place. You can't help but wonder what all goes through his mind. I don't even want to know. The inner machinations of Tyler's mind are an enigma.
@@NorthWestern1919 Nice seeing you here too! I remember playing this game back when it was still the FNAF3 fan-made game, and I've been following this series ever since, even after hearing it's bizzare story. I remember being so hyped for TRTF5, because at the time (2015), no other FNAF fan-game even came close to what TRTF5 would've offered, it really was going to be revolutionary for FNAF fan-games in terms of gameplay. And yeah, the origin story for the game taking place in 1942 is pretty hilarious. The biography of the Gilbert Facility on the Wiki and "The Dreadful Truth" give more detail on the technology that was used in Japan at that time. Let's just say, with that technology, Japan might as well have developed their own atomic bomb, and possibly even their own animatronic soldiers.

I completely remade the lore but still made it able to retain that unique feeling. I can guarantee you that I removed all the cringy and inconsistent bs and made the TRTF lore a bit more likeable. Got ideas for the character's visual redesigns too, now all I need is a PC with enough power to boot up UE, Blender and CF 2.5. at the same time.

To be honest, Gron sounds more like the name of an Orc Warlord. "Gather round warriors, and listen to the tale of Mighty Gron, Chieftain of the Dummass Clan, who died a glorious death by... slipping on soap."
For those who think I'm being a dick to Tyler (even though I pretty much just call him cringe and make fun of his hilarious writing), here's a list of things he did I compiled by doing surface level research:
- He stole images of Candy from Emil Macko's deviant art, attempted to copyright the character, rename it Sugar, and pass it off as his own.
- He stole Scott's code numerous times instead of figuring out how to do it himself. (this is illegal)
- He claimed his girlfriend was his sister and that they had sex on multiple occasions and jerked off on camera with one another.
- Has a self-insert in basically every game, which was fine until Frankburt's where he made stripper variants of his and his ex GF's OCs, Lockjaw and Kitty Fazcat, post breakup.
- Faked his death for publicity around the release of the fourth game
- Kept pushing everyone who attempted to help him away (around TRTF5 era and beyond) because he couldn't handle anything in the games that wasn't his own vision.

This comments: Explains the neatness behind the name
Me: Hehehe funny penile trauma name
I feel the same.

14:17 Idk, makes sense to me. I have a fear of slipping on a bar of soap and falling into a spring lock suit. 🤷🏽♀️😂

I know now that the TRTF series was kind of bad but back in the day reading TRTF lore and playing the games was lot of fun and I have a lot of fond memories
No, it wasn't
@@atanaZion the only “fun” was laughing at how bad the writing was.
At least from what I can gather, never bothered with many fnaf fanworks.
@@Dr.Oofers I never noticed how bad the writing was until a few years ago. But I still enjoy it as fun bad writing and its also nostalgic for me.
Tylers lastname makes me think that words like "gron" and "_radsla_" are Swedish words. Gron (actually grön) which means green, and radsla (actually rädsla) meaning fear. Very creative names.
I love how he just sounds like a dad who Is disappointed with his son
I'm glad that The Return to Freddy's is still getting some recognition, it's still one of my favorite fan-game series of all time (even after the hilariously bad, and very bad things that surrounded this game's development). Also, I find the setting of _RADSLA_, one of the games in Volume 2, very interesting. It takes place in Japan in the year 1942.
*1942*
This FNAF game takes place in WW2 era Japan, not even one year after the Japanese attacked the United States at Pearl Harbor...
💀
@@G011d3n My favorite part of the Return to Freddy's timeline was definitely when they deployed Lockjaw at the Battle of Iwo Jima. Definitely the fangame of all time.
I love when long thought to be done game series or developement studios come back, it's always nice to see these older wiser people show how much they've learned and how much they've grown.
Unfortunately, TypicalEclipse deleted his channel and I can't find an archive of the TRTF video mentioned in this video. If anyone finds an archive or backup, please let me know

The worst parts is that he made a strip club animatronic version of his ex girlfriend for the game...

TRTF is one of those games you try to forget in the back of your mind, but it just itches it’s way back to the front for no reason at all…
Well, honestly, this makes me feel a little better. I used to think I was a terrible writer, but seeing this guy's work gives me a bit of hope.
This is why I like Winter Wonderland, it's simple, it's easy and it isn't over convoluted
Yeah I agree it's a very great game to play(don't trtf2 rebuilt since this game is so unbalanced and overly confusing mechanics)
With how needlessly angry you were at Tylor, I have expected there to be a big reveal that YOU ARE TYLOR ALL ALONG!! That this video was you venting about past mistakes and moving on to something better.
ikr
I think it was hilarious that even Tyler recognized the circumstance of how Grom died was really fucking stupid.
greatest fnaf fangame of all time
(obvious joke is obvious)
It's a fangame that exists
Tyler: The Road that Falls will have nothing to do with Five Nights at Freddy's!

I don’t think that he included the creator of candy to make fun of him. He was a kid so he probably didn’t really know or care about including credit.
16:05 the phrase is "show dont tell" not the other way around.
theres quite a few ways he could have don that. even make it a big twist ending... but like spoiling it like that? hahaha

I love the government had to make the animatronics legal *again.* Idk why I just found that super funny. Lmao great video! 👍

This Tyler guy was a really edgy kid and had idea's beyond the engines limit, but he made the games he wanted in the end and oh boy was this a trip
To be honest, Gron sounds more like the name of an Orc Warlord.
"Gather round warriors, and listen to the tale of Mighty Gron, Chieftain of the Dummass Clan, who died a glorious death by... slipping on soap."
"Gron" isn't far away from "Grot", after all.
