I have done what you did in the video my friend. Cept I used gorilla super glue. No spreading and no yellowing. In July it will be 3 years. But thanks for your videos. They are the best on the web. 🙂👍🇺🇸
So, make a cooling solution out of antifreeze and water. Dip the bit regularly, and avoid overheating the glass as you drill it. I neglected to say, I have 35 years in the automotive, and commercial glass business…
Thanks for doing this video, I did this last winter on my car. I used the cheap harbor freight 10.00 rotory tool. It had the bits with it. Put it in a ziplock bag and keep it with my tire plug kit. Repair is still good.
Yes as of today 2/26/2024 repair is still good no change no additional damage. Oh and always carry the small one time use superglue just in case you cant fix right away. Put it on and don't scrape off even though you want to till you can drill and get the stress off the crack in the window.
Every state you can choose to pay for coverage and generally it's included if you have full coverage. I choose to never pay full coverage nor the comprehensive that covers windshields.
rock tore me up on the way to work Thursday night.. seen this last night, had to run to harbor to get the bit for my dremel... im still iffy if I got it stopped, but I damn sure tried! I'm already sharing this video with buddies if they end up with a crack
Gonna try using the diamond bits next time I've got a crack. The glass cutting bits alway seem to want too much pressure and I end up chasing the crack until I've done more damage than repair.
As myself a professional Glazier most of my adult life,i highly rate this video. For his weight,Ginger is very agile. More tricks please. Maybe Ginger can be shot from a Cannon and land in next door neighbors pool ?
Good video. Living in Alaska with no vehicle inspections and rocks all ober the road, probably 40% of windshields are cracked. My Tundra windshield has been cracked for the last 3 years. How does the fluid crack repair do in -30, -40 temps?
It just takes a little more time to fix, just a short drive down to Florida for a few days until the vehicle warms up, do the repair then return home, easy peasy
I've never had issues with repaired glass in cars that are in -20 to -30C winters. In heated windscreens it's common to get them damaged virtually at the second of glass cracking. Usually just one circuit remains ok.
If this was AZ you would of been pulled over already and gotten a ticket. I had a small 5 or 6 in crack at the top of mine and they pulled me over for it which is ridiculous
This isn't about cracks, but since you usually can fix anything, please do a video on how to stop blow up spas that leak down air. Wonder if there is a product like slime that could work? I've looked can't find anything. Cheers.
My daily (Toyota Yaris) has cracks all over the place... wish I would have done this a while back. This (very cold) winter, and the defrost made for sheer hell on it.
I just watched your other video on the repair of the crack on the RV which was 8 years ago. How long did that solution work? Did the crack expand past the stop drill hole?
nice , thanks . i remember seeing a tip of being able to make the crack turn toward the direction you choose , so you could stop it from going where they all want to (right in your view) . unfortunately , i cant remember how it is done . anyone know ?
Just have to push on the opposite side of where you want the crack to go..so of you want it to go up push below the crack, want it to go right, push on the left of the crack, and so on..
Great tip. My 03 Silverado had the worst windshield ever. If a rock just looked at it, it would crack. Did you get your pavers in yet? At the end of the video I could see some like form sticks sticking up? Thanks man! 👍
One way to keep a crack from speading......move to a tropical climate. Cold weather spreds a crack faster than anything because the first thing you do when starting your car is turn your defroster on and that warm air meeting a below freezing windshield will spred that crack by inches a day. Also just get the windshield replaced because even if you stop the crack, the cops will still pull you over for a cracked windshield. That is considered a safety hazzard and you'll then be forced to replace it and then spend more money on the fix-it ticket you got to resolve the issue.
If one has gotten just rock chip, don't buy this kit, buy one with syringe and vacuum cup so you can try to pull vacuum and then release resin inside the damage area. Much more effective.
@@sixtyfiveford I found it worked REALLY well for *one spot. one time.* and then became useless. But I think the results would be *just as good* with the suction cup style kit.

In the Navy we used to stop cracks from growing in aluminum engine fairings on aircraft in this same manner, drilling a hole at the end of the crack.

Awesome
so you used a general purpose steel tip bit and not a diamond or carbide tip. And was still easy enough?

Terrific idea!! The best news is, I have all the materials and tools required.
Brilliant, straightforward, simple instruction. Thanks mate
Another valuable video and lovable Ginger displaying her talent, she sure can jump. 👍
She gives up at anything higher. I think she could though.
In Florida windshield replacement is covered by auto insurance no deductible.

Did it stop the spread 10 months later?
Great video! Love the dentist drill pic! You could do hours of video with the dog and have millions of views. Keep up the great work.

Very witty.
Full marks for effort.👍
Whoa I do this to cracks on my drum kit cymbals
Great video. I like that cordless dremel.
It's been handy.

Same principal with a crack in plastic or steel. Drill a stress relief hole at the end to stop the crack, then weld it up or it will keep on cracking.
Great video Moe! Thanks for making and sharing.
Can you fix a rock impact chip on the very edge of your windshield that has spidered a little and has one crack line forming already?
Thank you for the information. Have a great day.

Have you got a video on polishing out scratches on windscreens
I've never videoed myself doing it, but I probably should do a video on it.
@@sixtyfiveford I have a very light scratch right in the line of vision on my wifes car. Caused by birds attacking their own reflection
what speed setting is the best?
Whatever you're comfortable with. I found midway(3) to be where I like it.
Absolutely did not need the tooth drill photo to active my PTSD

The crack is the exact same. Still have the same windshield in it.
Excellent video!
Great work dude.😄😄
Hows the crack did it spread?
Appreciate showing your knowledge!!!
Crack Hack ... very useful, great info. Thanks!
That "jelly" layer you were mentioning is actually a layer of plastic. Just thought you'd like to know. :)

Still putting down pavers. I got them all laid, just need to cut a few and cement in all the edges.
Thanks for sharing that with us.
Thanks!

Agree to disagree. I hate the syringe kit and find it ineffective.

In direct sunlight it's closer to 30 seconds.

I'm afraid to drill the crack on my Tesla windshield 🥲 I thought I'd just apply that anti crack glue and that's it😅😅
