Resident Evil 7: 6 Reasons This Is the Best Resident Evil Since Resident Evil 4

- At first, Resident Evil 7 seems like a far cry from series tradition, with its controversial new perspective, and preference for stealth. But having finished the game, and as long time fans of the Resident Evil series, we think it’s the best Resident Evil since 4, for the following, spoiler-free reasons. Subscribe for more Resident Evil! www.tinyurl.com/SubToOxbox
While the early gameplay demos have focused on early portions of the game, which are more stealth-based, as the game goes on, it plays more and more like a Resident Evil game of yore.
The Baker plantation in which you find yourself after the house feels like a true heir to the Spencer Mansion in the original Resident Evil, with its hidden rooms, weird locks and numerous secrets, and the combat here is Resident Evil through and through.
Though it does have its jump scares, what it really excels at is creating an uneasy atmosphere that has you constantly on the edge of your seat. At one point I was so wound up that I legitimately got scared by my own shadow, and yes, my track record in this department is not great, but it’s good to see a horror game that is both scary and compelling like Resident Evil 7.
The game isn’t perfect. The last third of the game is notably weaker than the rest, there isn’t a huge amount of variety in the regular enemies you face, and it feels like some story threads were left unresolved. If you’re a fan of the series, though, or you just enjoy horror games and weird, compelling stories, then Resident Evil 7 is a fun, scary and compelling way to spend ten hours.

A moment of silence for the haters who wished for this game to flop.
Tuh ya know they gave Ass-Creed 3 9s all over the place. We now accept that game as utter crap
Chip Cayer Assassins Creed 3 was really good though?
The Gaming Raver I wouldn't necessarily say AC3 was really good but tbf it was an entertaining and good game. I've heard people's disappointments with it, but I've never really heard anyone say AC3 was shit or anything.
billy Siravo jr When I played that quite a while after its release I didn't think it was all that bad, but considering it was pretty much the weakest in the series and buggy af. Yes I think I agree. I enjoyed the Unity book more than the game 😂
the game still looks like a flop to me
"Some story threads were left unresolved" ... until DLC later this year.
Hunter Cunningham there is free dlc coming but the season pass includes one story mission at the very least
Hunter Cunningham free dlc level in the spring and 3 paid dlc packs throughout the year
Jake Geddes the season pass is 3 short story levels and 2 full story chapters
Christian The W lol
Was going to say, Yeah unresolved plot threads until the DLC comes out.
Reason 8: The biggest scare isn't created by a dog on the radio.
CrumpetsRGood4U Oh I get it, I get it :)
is that a silent hill reference?
karzan66354 Yeah
CrumpetsRGood4U If you're referring to Downpour, I'm pretty sure the biggest scare there was the Turn Back Time optional sidequest. Admittedly the majority of the game was horribly tame, but that puzzle event scared the shit out of me after the paintings started bleeding and the invincible killer appeared.
Which RE7 kinda stole with the Chainsaw Mia hallucinations at the end, except less since the damage wasn't real.
"If I can get through it, so can you."
Are you sure? I pussied out of the demo.
I pussied out of watching Oxbox play the demo.
Challenge accepted :) , can't wait to get my hands on this tomorrow, I really love the Resident Evil series though so far Resident Evil 4 is my absolute favourite lets see if this lives up to its predecessor
Abigail Archer-Addams Same lmao
its really good u will love the game is CLASSIC the boss fights are perfect, management of inventory oh and to have the ultimate horror feeling play it on madhouse no check points even less ammo (in normal 40 ammos is like impossible for pistols which is the most common) very limited herbs its awesome
karzan66354 I know ive just started playing it, and doing a series on my channel about it. Got to say its very close to being my favourite Resident Evil game - I've just got to see it through to the end and see if it takes the top spot
You can't punch boulders in half!? I'm giving this game zero S.T.A.R.S. out of 13.
Here's my like, you clever son of a bitch
Pedro Gavilanes
Wait what
Resident Evil 5 Chris Redfield Punches a boulder to get it to roll into lava so his teamate can safely get over a pit of lava
Pedro Gavilanes HaHA! I see what you did. Clever, mate. :D
I just wish the grandma was the new merchant. I would lose my shit if she just rolled her head over to me and whispered " What are ya buyin?"
Honestly it broke my expectations. This game is such a FANTASTIC game.
Republic How action focussed is it? Was really psyched, but now all this gameplay with firearms is starting to worry me that it's strayed away from survival horror and closer to an FPS, really hope I'm wrong
Matt Allcock your wrong
Good, I want to be, that's why I asked the question. Definitely in need of more decent survival horrors :)
Republic Why do people hate it ? This is better than 5 and 6.
You have your guns. But they're not always super effective. When you're carrying 25 bullets for a handgun for instance, and an enemy monster takes a full clip of 10 to kill, and there are two of them....well, lets just hope the spasmodic and weird movements of the monster don't make you miss more then 5 times or so.
Are people still trying to hate on this even after its gotten like 90% ratings and up on everything
TinyHippo Gaming sequel hateing is a sport these days.
I haven't seen a resounding bad review of this game from the reviewers or comments a like. All ive seen are who made their mind up ages ago. Just be honest and admit you're stubborn. If this was 3rd person you wouldn't hear such talk but because its 1st its a rip off. So any game thats a 1st person horror is a rip off of outlast? Then outlast is a rip off of slenderman. Silent hill was 3rd person but we all shit our pants at the p.t demo. Horror evolves and this is it.
Positive reviews literally mean nothing these days.
This was in development *way* before P.T.
jmt1000 of you are a fan of the series and have played the RE 1 you know exactly how boring, (but good) it really was. running around trying to find the sword key so you can get in one room to get the mold key that you can use once and so on and so forth the fact that no one told how to do any of these steps to actually progress the story made it that much hard (then they added the red headed zombies). my point is RE 7 in a way made it a lot simpler by telling you what you had to do. oh and back in the 90s RE1 was terrifying. might have been that way for me seeing I was only a kid playing it. What you said comparing RE7 to outlast and PT was you Basiclly comparing the original Silent Hill to the original RE the only way why they are alike is because of the fixed camera view. only way Outlast and RE are alike is because of the first person view. can you fight in outlast? no. are there any sort of puzzles in outlast? I think not. so you saying your a fan of the series is made up.
Resident Evil 7 scared the shit out of me yo!!!
+YuNitE you're gay then. i already play a lot of fps survival horror games to know when a jumpscare it's coming and this game wasn't scary at all. but i give props to capcom for trying.
Its not even scary bro..play Dead space then talk
@@hokerpokiboo2539 act though like a lil kido lol
If he found it scary then whats the problem with that some jumpsacres are scary like margerite jumping from behind the corner and her smashing threw the window
@@PikachuPolice in your opinion :)
I accidentally sliced my leg off, let me stick it back together with a first aid kit
Adragonwizard Master Shame it doesn't work with the elaborate spike trap thing :(
And to think this exists in a universe where a guy successfully punches boulders.
for real how do u stick it back it was sliced for me and i died from bleeding out
I got my leg sliced off first time meeting Jack properly, at the dinner tabl. He taunted me and told me to get the healing bottle to fix my leg. I had to pick up my leg, pick up the bottle and heal myself. Ethan said "What the fuck?" at the exact time I did. xD
Some spoilers down below
I feel like the implication is that Ethan is infected with the virus to a certain extent, enough to where he has some of its regenerative ability...but he's not COMPLETELY infected and too far gone so his regeneration needs an external boost, which the herbal liquid in this game provides. That's why his hands get injured if you take certain kinds of damage like getting gashed, or getting bug bites and the injuries will stay but when you apply the healing salve, the injuries sort of heal up.
Also cause he's partially infected I assume that means he can be more easily purged of it after the end of the game, without needing the serum.
Kiyosuki I too have started to wonder this.
Well, it wasnt that hard to be better than 5 and (especially) 6.
Jose Colella With local co-op those 2 games become awesome!
Leon's campaign in Re6 was actually great, the rest was shit.
Leon's campaing was terrible, the fact that is was the best of the four, doesnt mean much
RE6 is unplayable.
Well, opinions diverge
Since Resident Evil 3.
RE4 was more of an action game than a 'survival horror.'
RE5 and RE6 were basically more action-packed copies of RE4.
It was a fun game, indeed.
The title says "This is the best best Resident Evil since Resident Evil 4". Just because 4 was more action oriented, it doesn't make the title false.
If resident evil 5 and 6 are copies of 4, then aren't 2 and 3 just copied of 1.
No one said the title is 'false,' I simply made a statement that would RE3 would fit the title better, since it was the last 'survival horror game' in the main franchise (RE4 didn't have the same impact, but was more domesticated, hence its success).
RE4 was an action horror game, and still the best in the series, like it or not.
Funny the last game I played was 4.
You should play 5 and the Revelations games
Serenity K64 Dont play 6 save your time
Definitely play Revelations one, it's worth the time.
you should also play 6 i reccomend with a friend
it's so fun but if you solo it it might trudge on a bit long
Play Revelations 2, not 1, never 1, and don't waste your time with RE 6. In Revelations 1 doing the same shit over and over and over again on that boat will tear you down and will make you wanna bang your head on the keyboard.

No don't remind me
You guys mentioned a "certain clunkiness" in the controls brought about by the First Person Perspective. A clunkiness that you appreciated. You also mentioned that the story featured very feign plot threads that were difficult to follow or led nowhere narratively. My point is that it appears to me, and surely to some other viewers, that you guys are really trying your hardest to like this game, even going so far as to brush aside the existence of certain faults or claim that they enhanced the gameplay experience. Maybe Andy is being TOTALLY HONEST and I'm too pessimistic. Yet still, if anyone finds this comment, I would advise you to take caution when buying this game. When Yahtzee Crosshaw inevitably hates this game and shits all over it on Zero Punc. I hope that you keep this video in mind.
A little clunkiness in the controls is a staple of survival horror games, it's what made combat in the original Resident Evil scary and challenging and serves the same function here. As for the story stuff, I mention it as a drawback, but not enough of one for it to have a major impact on my enjoyment of the game. Hope that helps.
outsidexbox I'm not one who plays many horror games so I don't really get where you're coming from. But I certainly respect you're opinion and will take your word for it. Thank you. Also, DEAR GOD YOU ACTUALLY RESPONDED :D
Besides, @outsidexbox, you also mentioned that the game itself was genuinely terrifying. What are we playing a horror game for if not for fantastic scares? Don't get me wrong, I want most all my games to have compelling story and good controls, but if the scares aren't on point in your scary game, you're doing something very wrong
MTLion3 Alien: Isolation is a perfect example of a brilliant horror game with a respectable story that has near perfect tension and scares. Let's not forget the functionally sound movement system. It too had a first person perspective, melee and ranged combat. I don't see why RE7 shouldn't be held to those standards.
Giving RE7 a pat on the back for being an effective horror game is not an issue at all. I take severe issue with the story being bogged down for the sake of atmosphere. Again, this might have been the case with other entries of the franchise. I don't know. If not, and this is new to the series, and the publishers have already figured out a dlc pack to solve these problems with the campaign, I urge you all to put your foot down. This level of laziness in the industry must not be excused. If no such dlc comes along, I will accept the games poor story and embrace the chilling atmosphere and effective creeps.
MTLion3 I haven't played all of the Resident Evil games and thus have a basic grasp over the overarching plot and so on. Hopefully you'll understand my concerns and maybe even correct me wherever I've made an error. Thanks.
I'll never play this game. 3 spoopy 5 me.
I am not a sucker for horror games but I decided to give RE 7 a shot because people were saying it was a really good horror feast. I wanted something scary so I picked it up. And oh my God, it’s such a fantastic and phenomenal game. It’s just awesome and actually really scary and uneasy. Way to go Capcom
Resident Evil 7 is the best Resi game since Resi 4? YES, but could have been even better if Ethan was able to RUN FASTER!
or make chris redfield look like chris redfield
@@Dagnar3142 So its just a Chris wannabe
Nope, isn´t the best re game since 4, other games were better imo
@@ZelaumTheHunter 🤡
Thank you! Always thought this game looked promising. Can never understand all the hate coming from "old, loyal fans of the series"
Because it looked more like Outlast than a Resident Evil game. I think that was why people hated on it so much.
Because third person already established RE game.
And you know why? Are you going to spend over 60 hours playing this game? Nah. No replay value.
Play Once it and you're done.
I can't understand it either. Its exactly like the old games but with a first person perspective that brought back the survival horror that made the franchise great yet apparently being like the games that people are fond of is suddenly a bad thing.
MysteriousTomJenkins nah man its just people recently felt the need to whine n bitch about everything. People are just becoming whiney cunts lol
Beat it first day, replayed on madhouse, and have still enjoyed every bit of the game. Cant wait for those 3 dlc
I personally never liked Resident evil games but I gave this one a try. The game was fantastic and scary as fuck at some Parts. The developers did their best to screw with you and the jumpscares always came when didn't expect them.
Did you play Resident Evil 8 Village? Great follow up to Resident Evil 7 Biohazard
Man, REmake, Resident Evil 4, and Resident Evil 7 make a really perfect trilogy of diverse horror games with unique plotlines and style, with Revelations being a great Portable spinoff.
If the series consisted of only those games, it'd be absolutely legendary.
Does Andy seeing his shadow in RE mean 6 more weeks of winter?
No, it means 6 more weeks of zombies.
No, it just meant one more game of Ethan *Winter*s lol
Resident evil 7 deserves the calling horror, resident evil series are made to scare the crap our of you this one focused on that 10/10 great game since re4
Resident evil 7 looks and plays like how a fully fledged PT game would play so I'm also glad it has that going for it because PT was such a missed opportunity.
PT looks and plays like how an underdeveloped outlast or amnesia would play. It's first person, there are loads of first person horror games out there, and PT was not the pioneer. Besides, in PT, all you did was walk in a repetitive hallway. There's just not enough material in it to be able to compare it to other games. PT was more paranormal (ghosts, and such) while RE is more about monsters and mutants.
visage is suposed to come out this month i think
good to see resi evil games shining again
6 reasons this is the best Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4:
Reason 1- Resident Evil 5 & 6 both sucked.
thegreatmoustachio 5 was good.
REcray GTA I loved 5 too.
I didn't personally like 5, though it wasn't objectively bad. 6 was objectively bad.
thegreatmoustachio What do you mean by objectively bad?
I loved 5... 6 was mediocre at best but 5 is really a very good game.
One thing to add is how they added almost every aspect from the old Resident evil to RE7. The Baker family chasing you like RE3 nemesis, making your own ammo (RE3), looking for key cards, using the broken shotgun (RE2), and the point of view like resident evil survivor the first resident evil game to be a FPS.
I bought this game on a whim. I've never really been a Resident Evil fan but I had played the demo and enjoyed it. Even then I still wasn't absolutely sure about it since I haven't played any of the others. After playing it though all I can say is its fucking fantastic! Great blend of action and horror with some really awesome memorable moments.
The Best RE since 4!?!? No. the best RE since RE3:Nemesis!
RE 4 is debatably the best RE.
GAZAMAN93X Resident evil code veronica was waaay better then 3.In fact it was going to be 3 but sony made a contract where 3 resi games need to be on the ps1
Petyr Baelish just because casuals like it doesn't mean that it's true. The RE franchise is a shell of its former self.
Micheal Cathwick I know. I was into the franchise since day one on the original PlayStation days before RE4 popped on the scene and all these Leon and Ada dickriders popped up out of nowhere. I was referring as to numbered titles. Also most of the fandom says that RE2 is the best game in the franchise. I personally prefer 3 over 2.
+GAZAMAN93X Casuals? More like the entire RE fan base. RE4 is more often than not considered to be the best game in the series.
Why so much hate for Resi 4 in the comments? It's consistently ranked as one of the greatest games ever made in most lists, people forget the tank controls and poor camera angles the first 3 (and veronica) had.
CrizzyD91 it's cool to hate on amazing games becuase it's trendy I guess or some stupid shit
This is not the first time Resident Evil has been in First Person. Don't forget about Resident Evil: Survivor
Evan Jones aren't those rail shooters?
isn't this **b'dumtss**
the Rail shooters are the Umbrella and Darkside chronicles games, Survivor 1 and 2 where in First person, there was also Dead Aim where you enter first person when you aim.
Which is a piece of shit game.
I love the fact that since this game was such a mysterious thing before launch, you guys actually took it upon yourselves to do an "almost review" of it. The last time I remember this from you guys was when Thief came out. Please do this more often its so much better than a review from other sites!
what? 6? why 6? I would have expected nothing less or more than 7 Reasons
I'm disappointed.
Cry. 6 is better than 5.
I'm such a bitch in games like these, I'll probably have to buy a new computer chair after playing this one...
What's the name of the bees in resident evil? Zombees!
sorry I had to do it!
I am a new comer to Resident evil so when i beat re7 i went in started to play the old ones and i gibe the series 10/10 stars
My favourite Resident Evil game will always be Parasite Eve 2.
likewise
so hot
IM FEELING HOT!!!!!?!
Lel Nope
THE TRANSLATE BUTTON ISN'T WORKING!
Makes me wet.
a "Far Cry" from the resident evil games... lol love that reference
What's the reference?
They changed resident evil into first person kinda like the far cry series
I don't think that was a reference. I think they literally mean it looks like a far cry (as in vastly different) to the other Resident evil games.
Muhammad Tanveer same
The Deer yea but it was a pun
Omg the way he breaks the shelves at 0:16 is so comical though 😂
saving room music is so calm
One thing I'm wondering is, without spoilers, does the story in the game have any connection to the plot and/or characters from the overall series?
Yes.
I think an Oxtra video said it tied the rest of the series together, didn't it? One of the pretty recent ones?
is there a link to that video as I can't find it :/
I'll see if I can find it
General Gaming so I beat the game and without spoiling anything I will say that it just barely fits into the main storyline.
I'm not buying a game that I'll finish in 10 hours for 70 bucks. However that might be very cool to watch youtubers and streamers playing it!
I have one question about Resident Evil 7. Is there ADS in this game? Or is it the weird hip fire zoom like the Time Splitters games?
I remember getting this game one evening. Started at 8pm and finished at 5 am, it was so intruiging and definitely look forward to the DLC's!! 9/10 game!!
I'm gonna miss the coop gameplay
I'm hoping Resident Evil series will eventually go back to 3rd person with/without tank controls moving beyond RE7. 1st person style is nice distraction every now and then, but hopefully this isn't a permanent change that Capcom has envisioned for its franchise.
No to hell with that, we've had 7 3rd person RE games (including ORC and the mobile game) and I'm personally sick of that gameplay style.
Andrew Jackson You are, but some fans of Resident (including myself) probably are not. I hope for the same game play from any previous resident evil games (especially re5, re4, or revelations). Instead, I see a p.t. copycat, no customize, and 1st person jump scare. I was actually pissed they switched it up because of hype of jump scared games. They shouldn't even called it Re7 if they was going to switch up like that.
There is a survival DLC upcoming that might play COOP. Not sure though
Wesker JHG if that's true, I'll definitely get the game after I check out the rest of the dlc.
what no, not the bees joke.
I'm so disappointed in you, Andy.
I was very skeptical at first, bit after a while, this I fell in love with this game! It looks fantastic. Also, great video as alway OX :3
honestly this game really surprised me
I wasn't so excited for it when it was announced but it grew on me big time
Finally You can get guns in Outlast, but where's the night vision camera?
1:48 it is scary? no shit ! i thought a game with crazy people and zombies hunting you in dark placesand jump scarig youre soul out with very litlle ways to survive was a kid game that isn't scary scary!
The best since 4? Well 4 already set the bar lower then any of the games before it, so that isn't really encouraging.
4 is one of the best games ever made, though.
Supercyzer 4 is the best RE Game it is the scariest too
shut up noob JUST SHUT UP
Supercyzer I really enjoyed 4
Supercyzer that's your opinion but the collective opinion of RE4 was that it not only was a great game it raised the bar so high the 5 and 6 were unable to beat it and now 7 appears to have raised that bar once again.
I totally enjoyed this game. I agree with everything you mentioned. As a big time RE fan, I had my doubts but I'm happy it really did feel like old school RE. Safe rooms, strategic inventory management, limited saves, scary, etc. I still don't really understand how it ties into the RE timeline but I'll eventually get there.
I was going to buy this today before I saw 6 DLC missions available for download. Screw that, package a full game for christ's sake.
J Dog th3 Wise It's 2 dlc add ons that are separate from the story. The other one is completely free.
Dat Nigga Shrek still ridiculous, still wont support it
J Dog th3 Wise How do you play games then? Almost every game has DLC.
Dat Nigga Shrek I buy lots of DLC, but almost none of that DLC is for a SINGLE PLAYER game. That is ridiculous. I can't believe that these things which, once upon a time, would have been UNLOCKABLE are now sold as "premium content" which we are expected to pay for. If you are okay with paying extra money for SINGLE PLAYER content that is clearly already finished but locked off behind their money-making scheme... you're their target customer and you are a big part of why games are released unfinished and with such ludicrous DLC packages.
J Dog th3 Wise you know some are free right.
Texas Chainsaw anyone?
They admitted that the game was inspired by that and Evil Dead
Great review - brief but informative. I'm a longterm RE fan, still debating whether to buy this as it does look like an original step forward for the series, tho I'm still not sure as a) I've always had reservations about 1st person view and b) I think I already know more about the game than its creators!
The sound of the shotgun blasting the Molded always feels satisfying xD
I'm not a big Resident Evil fan, never really looked interesting to me. That being said, I have a lot of respect for a series that is willing, on two separate occasions now, to change its game play formula in drastic ways to keep things new and different. You don't see that often, and I don't think Capcom gets enough credit for it.
anyone Else reminded of home from the x files
OMG watching the old guy drive around in circles saying "I'm gonna getcha was SO funny😂😂
the player voice did scare me in after the chainsaw boss haha when he say
stay dead
can we agree 5 and 6 were good games but not good resident evil games
Evan Bernard 6 was terrible capcom even admitted it was five was a good coop game though
6 isn't bad. the gameplays decent, its got the best resident evil plot, cool weapons. 5s better i'll admit but i still like 6
@@tomgibson6801 agree I mean if it doesn't have the resident evil title on it, then it could be a good action game on its own.
@@zhonny3143 I even feel like RE5 would've gotten better scores if it wasn't called 'Resident Evil 5'. Think about it. It's a solid action game with good level design and a decent pace, but the only thing holding it back is the title since it comes with the expectations that come from fans who've played previous entries, especially RE4.
negative : not much enemies variation, not much boss battle, area not big enough, NOT LONG ENOUGH
positive : RE classic's elements, cool health interface, very tense boss battle, very detail set, VHS (not many though), Ethan and Mia, crafting, ordinary lead character, SCARIEST R.E.
yes, its very different but still a good changes, but 1st person view made the game minimalized in every aspect. Grade : 7.8
Gitgud Scrub theres alot of enemies. at first its kinda playing the game safe and running but progresses into gather loads of ammo and guns, and lots of killing, just make your ammo count or youll get fucked lol
Gitgud Scrub You have Regular Molded, Spider-like Molded and Fat Molded. He's right about the lack of variety, but it's still cool.
abdalminator the RE Remake was around 10 hours, just like this game, just wanted to point that out.
Gitgud Scrub Noooope.
abdalminator I actually enjoy this game but I'll agree about some of the negative you said.
Finished the game already?
Daaamn, Andy!!
can't wait. Looks like this is gonna be the first surprise hit of the year.
Hey Andy... what's that creeping up behind you!?! Nah, I'm just kidding. Or am I? Nah I am just kidding. OR AM I?! o_O
My thoughts exactly.
The top 3 Resident Evil games :
Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 7
Resident Evil 1
you haven't even played 7 yet and you put it on your top 10 list? Jesus....
TheSkipRow Gaming Early copies got leaked. Maybe he got one...
No love for 2?
I have not played Resident Evil 7 yet, but it looks like it is shaping up to be a near-masterpiece, aside from the low variety of common enemy types. So far, my favorite Resident Evil games are the RE1 Remake (10/10), followed by RE4 (9/10), followed by RE: Nemesis (9/10). It looks like the addition of this game and the upcoming RE2 Remake might allow me to finally expand my list of RE games, that I would rate at least 9/10 in my opinion, to include five installments instead of three.
I still believe RE4 is the best game in the series, or maybe even of all time. Nothing keeps me on the edge of my chair like hearing the noises of chainsaws, thanks Bella Sisters and Dr. Salvador!
With all the talk in games about intuitive controls and smoothness and all that, it's nice to see a game employ an older style of control to it's advantage.
idk for me this game was really ez espically the puzzles took me 7hrs only
I still think RE2 is the best in the series
Resident evil 7 was an awesome game, the story was well written, the characters were epic and scary, and the atmosphere felt just like the classic games
how long is this game and do you think there will be dlc ?
And for the Record,.. here are my reason's why I think Resident Evil 7 is NOT the best Resident Evil since RE4.
1. The Backtracking - The only you spend nearly or more than 10 hours playing this game is because of all the time you spend backtracking in and out of each area.
a- Resident Evil 4 has 19 Chapters and as many locations
2. The Enemies, they are 4 types of zombie like enemies in this game (No counting the Bosses) and overall these are just sly variations of design of each one, with the most different being the Fatty but, once you get the shotgun of enough bullets, they are no particularly difficult.
b- Resident Evil 4 has much more variations including but not limited to.. Ganados (villagers), dogs, mercenaries, giants, lake monsters, etc.
3. The Jump Scares, this game just relies too much on jump scares. There just too many and after a point it just feel annoying more than scary, plus after consequential plays; it makes the game too predictable.
c- I don't remember any of RE4 jump scares, the game is just that good.
4. The Character/Nathan movements, for some reason in 2017 Capcom thinks that the game character needs to move really slow in game, specially every time you are aiming. My guess is that Capcom realizes that if the character were to move at normal speed, the game would be that much shorter.
d- For Pete's sake,.. The main character Leon Kennedy in RE4, a game release over 10 years ago; moves a lot faster than the main character in 2017?
-- That's it but, for the record; I could go on. -- So, Resident Evil 7 the best Resident Evil game since Resident Evil 4.. Nope, sorry.. I don't think so, not even close.
Agree.
Am i the onlyone who dislikes this game? Like wtf pls bring the old re back
Really liked this video. It felt like an actual review but still held the classic OX feel.
you left out the sneaky feature with psvr where if you scream too loud they come for you. i discovered that when i yelled to tell my dog to stop barking my character was shaking then jack came running at me saying now your mine
Re4 is overrated, Rev2 does the shooter style of re games better than any of the number titles
I love the revelations series, specially ReRev2. The limited ammo, the puzzles and companions that don't really fight, a basic dodge instead of jumping and rolling on the ground. I think those games are how RE 4, 5, and 6 should've been like.
I actually liked RE5 more than RE7. RE7 being a "survival horror" game doesn't automatically make it better. I'm not gonna compare the two because both are from different genres trying to achieve different things, and both are great for different reasons in my opinion.
dude super dope I can't wait for ur facts
I haven't been around long enough to know anything about the other Resident Evil games besides just how they look and a few tiny details, but just as a horror game this looks amazing.
Looks like a steam sale type of game.
Only 10 hours? For me a game that will only last around 10 hours isn't worth paying full price for
re1-3 were like 6 hours........so you are either talking bs or you have never played a re game. However nice to answer after a year
TBH when I played the first time Marguerite jumping out saying "I TOLD YOU TO GET OUT!" Scared the absolute shit out of me to the point where I did what I like to call the Panic Pause
in the game is there any hints on how this connects to the previous games since it is based 4 years after res6
nah.. don't think so.. the best still re3 n re4 for me. and by the way.. anybody are not well today? go and see a doctor and if the doctor gave you any liquid medicines.. instead of drinking it, why don't you try spill it all over your left hand. see whether you will getting better or not :P

Code Veronica is one of my fav's too. 0 didn't have a remake though, and I'm surprised 4 is so low on your list, considering you liked 5 more.
+TheCenobyte85 Actually 0 did have a remake. I think in 2012 it was remade. Personally, I liked 5 more simply because the gameplay was the same as 4 but more refined. It may be more action-y, but I never found 4 scary so meeeehhhhh
+TheCenobyte85 Remake? Remaster? Ahh you get what I'm saying
Resident Evil 0 wasn't a remake, it was a prelude to Resident Evil 1.2.3.
Is the first demo also found in the final game?
This game got me into resident evil and now I'm playing 1, and 4
RE6 > RE7. Facts.
Troll
Wesker JHG Why would I troll? RE6 poops on this crap.
Sҽphιroтн安哥拉 your obviously new to the resident evil community
LUL sure, troll harder
I don't know this game looks boring to me RE6 looked btter than this and double for RE5. Honestly I'd rather play RE3 then this that one was my favorite Ithink imma skip this one see what they do next.
I knew it, I KNEW IT....
It's freaking amazing. Just beat it 20 minutes ago.
HFS it's actually INCREDIBLE. Just as good as ANY of the classics.
I haven't beat it yet and I already love it. They finally listened to us!
Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3 are totally different games, the same with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5 & 6 are made for more action type gamers. I loved the first 3 games and loved RE 6, but they tried to combine in this somehow everything and they failed (my personal view). SPOILER DOWN BELOW for my next personal views.
Storyline? What exactly? I didn't found it and is so inconstant... just mention the bad endings with "Redfield" who is obviously Hunk who work with Ada together and to top that, the storyline with "Evie"? Only explained at the last 15 or 20 minutes of the game... Resident Evil is plain and simple dead... sadly since I love the series.
FoxFoxxy ok, fuck you for spoiling the game for me, at least have the common decency to not spoil the ending.
Dr Strangelove how about you take a lesson in Internet/RUclips/Comment Sections 101? Do not ever search any of those things if you're wary of spoilers, you idiot.
MultiMetar ok then man
FoxFoxxy I also loved them all, and the Action is justified by the context, Re 0-3 is a World NOT ready for bioterrorism, 4-6 is a WAR agains't it.
FoxFoxxy Wow, you are the first person I saw in this comment section who dislike the game without crying and saying no one should like it and with a brain.
Good to know you actually have well formed opinion.
I read through the comments and most people haven't played the game and but already hates it.
Resident Evil 7 is the worst RE games I ever played.
This is now the second time in a row that I got an ad for an PS exclusive title before an Oxbox video.
Is YT trying to tell me something?
great video
Beat it in 6 hours
Too easy
the game is good but is overpriced , 60$ for 6-7 hours :/
Better to have 6-7 hours with good pacing, level design, atmosphere, music, etc. than 20+ hours of middling pacing, level design, etc.
Glad the serie is back on track
speaking of the vhs tapes
did clancy survive and leave the house in the demo?
That was someone else. Clancy dies in the main story (He was the one who burned in the happy b-day video).
