The person who goes through every dungeon lighting perfectly placed candles to make sure the hero doesn't trip and fall into a pit and break their leg.
The mailman in Skyrim. This guy finds you all over the place, travelling all over Skyrim, cresting mountains, braves the wilderness, slips through bandit blockades and evades dragons, all just to deliver you a simple note. He is a true hero.

Eh, you were already signed up for the vault, he was just finalising it all. I'd think the soldiers who were escorting the vault participants to safety deserve it more. They could've just entered the vault and left everyone else outside, but they followed their instructions and got those required to safety.

What about the unnamed BSAA agent at the end of Leon's campaign in Resident Evil 6? Not only does he get you out of an area swarming with zombies and poisonous gas when you first meet him, he comes back to rescue you a second time mid boss fight with a truck armed with a pair of mounted machine guns at the back.

Samantha Traynor and her toothbrush ... i laughed so hard during that scene. Tbh, i laughed hard a lot during that whole DLC. Script-wise, the Citadel-DLC was a freaking masterpiece and the perfect sendoff for the crew of the Normandy.
Nice to see Viscera Cleanup get a mention, one of the most original game ideas in a long time and incredibly therapeutic.
I liked Animal Crossing: New Leaf, until I spent an entire day cutting down every tree in my town, making a perfect orchard, and then having someone put their house directly in the centre of it.

Yeah, I don’t think we’re ever told just how much the Loyalists convinced him you weren’t a fucking psycho before paying him. I guess you’re not wrong in that he did enable the entire rest of the game, but it’s also the top of the list for unheroic acts. I mean, dude took a bribe to let out the guy who _killed the fucking Empress._
I'd like to think Father Grigori from HL2 would make a nice addition to this list if possible. He was a fucking badass and most likely sacrificed himself for Gordon's journey to carry on.
I would like to offer an Honorable Mention for Seneschal Varel, from "Dragon Age: Awakening". During Howe's rule, Varel spent his time and little power trying to save people and sabotage Howe's evil plans, eventually being sentenced to die for his acts of mercy. He was freed when the Warden kills Howe, and he returned this favor as an amazing Seneschal. Not only was he great in his office, he held the Grey Warden secrets for you, he was there to offer you any advice you needed (and happy to let it look like it was your idea, which was very helpful for non-human races that didn't know nothing about being an arl), and he was completely loyal, even if you made some questionable commands (though he did voice his opinion). If the conspiracy to have you killed goes bad, he even takes the arrow for you and plays it off as one of those, "Pft.... this? I've had worse from kitchen slips!" injuries. I would have happily hired him on as part of the Inquisition (if your ending doesn't have him tragically die in the siege on Vigil's Keep).
That nameless space janitor as a name, it's Roger Wilco! His heroic Space Quest for "truth, justice and really clean floors" is truly inspiring...to anyone who cares.
The best janitor in the galaxy! Doing other things? Well, he does get lucky sometimes.

Father Grigori from Half Life 2, he gives you a shotgun, helps you mow down zombies, and sacrificed himself in a blaze of glory in order to get you out of Ravenholm! He's earned a spot on my list of forgotten heroes
What about Drebin from MGS4? A literal nobody (in that he has no real name or past) who not only supplied the entire rebellion against The Patriots and Ocelot with weapons and ammo but also gives legendary soldier Solid Snake vital intel which he needed to defeat the elite cyborg mercenary team the Beauty and Beast Corps. Without Drebin you'd be stuck with only a naff 2 pistols then probably get blown up by a grenade launcher wielding psychopath with a jetpack.

The only thing I know about The Battle of Stalingrad has been from movies and such, but a common theme is that some soldiers were issued rifles, others only ammo. If someone with a rifle died, someone with ammo would pick it up. Also if you ran away you got shot by your allies.

I cannot believe you'd leave out the smuggler that was sleeping behind the crates at the very start of ME1. The guy who saw Saren execute Nihlus. If it wasn't for that one particular slouch, the galaxy would've been doomed. He tells you about Saren's involvement, which is the ONLY lead you start with, the very reason you even end up stopping him and therefore Sovereign.
If that one douchebag had decided to nap elsewhere, Shepard would've gotten blown up by the bomb placed on Eden Prime, Saren would've opened the conduit, and Sovereign would've started the Reaper invasion completely unopposed.

Teresa Lipan from the Syphon Filter series. I don't know about her appearances in earlier games because I'm not familiar with the franchise as a whole, but in Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror, she's Gabriel Logan's (the protagonist's) "guy in the chair" throughout the entire game. His intel, his hacker, she's basically the person on the other side of his comms telling him what to do (kinda like "Overlord" in Call of Duty®).

Yeah, I was wondering that. It seemed like the game's frame rate dropped due to the amount of dead bodies on screen, but who really knows for sure?
I'm pretty sure in the re7 demo you play as clancy the whole time which is why in the full game when you have the list of names they all say turned or dead except for clancy which says "L" meaning lost im sure...
Lillie from Pokémon Sun and Moon - she ends out to be so useful, those few items - and she was an extra flute-player in that one scene where my avatar somehow plays like a pro when... I assume you have no prior flute knowledge..? Oh well, still love it...

what about james from fallout three? he was the one who got project purity started and was willing to die in order for the enclave to not get their hands on his project. Also he's voiced liam neeson which automaticly gives him hero status no matter what he does

I loved the vissera cleaning game, but the best was an add on where you cleaned up a dojo where it apeared a kill bill scene went through, because as soon as you thought you were done after room one, your character makes an axasperated sigh. Also you can find mission statments that tell what actually happened.
