Nice video! I'm gonna copy your silicone lid idea, that's a great tip! Been carrying an extra plastic container for pre-soaking but now I can ditch that weight... Looking forward to your trail videos!

It also allows me to ditch the extra bag the pot comes in, since it holds the pot together nicely when on top and that’s all I need that bag for.

Of course I forgot to mention my shoes, who needs shoes anyway, right? xeroshoes.com/shop/terraflex/terraflex-men/

Very informative and detailed video! I haven't been on a hike before, but this is motivating me to go outside more frequently.
There was a constant background noise throughout the video, maybe it came from out of the balcony.
Can't wait to see your hiking techno Viking footage!

Yeah, sorry about that noise. Next time I’ll think twice before recording. :p

Embarrassingly enough I don't get to speak much Swedish ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

hey bud. I’m wondering why you stopped using your trailstar? Ive just moved to östersund from Scotland permanently and I’m pondering on whether my trailstar will be any good for Sweden considering how bad the flying beasties are here! I have one of the newer flames creed Chinese copies of the trailstar but thinking i should get some sort of inner tent for it unless i want to be eaten alive. Har det bra.

I haven’t stopped using it, it’s just that mine is a Chinese clone too and I’d rather want to get an original and then most importantly I don’t have an inner to go with it and just as you don’t want to be eaten alive. Hehe.
Last time I used a self made UL bivy bag but that works only if bug pressure isn’t too bad.

Did the gear work out well?

Ha, I always planned to do a follow up. Since otherwise it’s pretty pointless to suggest gear that doesn’t work in the end.
So for most parts I was quite happy. But there were also quite a few things that didn’t work quite as well as I had wished.
I was unhappy with the choice of shoes I made. Not sure if they are in the video.
The idea of having a rain skirt was awesome but Tyvek is not the right material. It’s just not waterproof enough. Ended up with a trash bag around my hips after I forgot the rain skirt in some cabin and was super happy with just the trash bag.
My trekking poles broke one after the other. One I could fix later so I always had at least one to use and both worked for pitching my the tent but the brand (Alpkit) is just shit. Sorry. Would never buy them again.
Got wrecked in my tent at one occasion when I got caught on the wrong foot in a heavy storm. One of the zipper’s seam broke in the storm. Not ok. Production quality was also sth I was not exactly happy with. Still many things I liked about that tent.
