I was guess who 1 was and the possibility of who vecna was, but then childhood 😮 was sooooo surprised & sad
This demogorgon is faster and stronger because it's been training/killing this whole time. Scary thing is we don't know how many dozens or..thousands...of prisoners it was fed before? All of them having similar weapons to harden this monster. The demi in first season seems to be a newborn at being a trained killer.
Yeah, after their skin hardens (I'm guessing one of the molts after they acquire the ability to walk upright), the demogorgons are impervious to most everything but fire. The demodogs were still able to be injured by shooting them in season 2.

Didn't the demogorgon in S1 survive getting hit with dozens of bullets with no real sign of slowing down though? How did this one get better at killing if nothing but fire works as a weapon against it to begin with?
thats a good story wise reason! but reality reason is the Demogorgon in season 1 was a guy in a suit. This one was 100% CGI.
yeah, plus it looks like the russians are experimenting with creatures of the upside down and perhaps making them stronger even outside of just training and feeding them
The thing is 001 never planned for Eleven to trust him and help him get out of there. He genuinely wanted to help her since he felt a connection between them due to the fact that they are the only people (that we know so far) that were born with powers and had somewhat similar experiences.

nahh i think thats how manipulation works. he wanted her to think it was her idea to help him but in truth, if she didnt say "you helped me, i help you", he wouldve said some shit else that would lead to the same output.
@@binisiwon3511 Nah, it was proven he actually wasn't planning that in the next episodes. Things just happened to fall into place, mainly due to Eleven's actions.
There actually connected biologically, that’s why eleven has the abilities she does and same with all the other kids that’s why he’s one. It’s been said that eleven is just as powerful as vecna but she had damage to her memories so it messed it all up. It’s also been said that we haven’t seen elevens true potential yet.
Marketa's right. It seems Eleven did pick up a few style points from 001. She did that same neck snap maneuver on a guard just like One did, back in season 1.
It's like in God of War when you occasionally get new weapons from your enemies
it's rooted somewhere in her subconscious but she didn't know it yet

I have a theory what if 001 is elevens father like hawkens lab got a bunch of women pregnant with his seed in their experiments as an effort to recreate him that’s why all of them have powers
I feel like 001’s fixation with spiders somehow alludes to the Mind Flayer. Due to its spider-like appearance.
He is working with Mind Flayer, he is his servant. After 001 went into upside down, the Mind Flayer took a form of a spider to manipulate vecna/001 to worship him.
He does refer to spiders as gods so he likely saw the Flayer and viewed it as a god

obviously the Mind Flayer corrupted him from "hell" or whatever place there was before the Upside Down which is also why he was probably given control of that plane and he chose to make his "ideal world" aka the Upside Down

They really levelled up Nancy this season, like her and Robin finding a way to get rid of Vecna curse, her saving Steve and Vecna revealing his identity to her
She’s always had badass in her, always the first ready to fight and prepare, since season 1. But I agree they leveled her the f*** up this season and I love it

jamie campbell bower knows how to do terrifying!! it's funny because many people think he's attractive, i'm really glad he gets to play a major villain because he's so convincing. it's those piercing blue eyes and the intense glower that sell it.
I don't know but his fucking face structure changed in the last scene (maybe cause he is leaning and hair is different) but damn he is my favourite actor of the bunch, and the fact he wore the Vecna suit and did the voice
I'd never heard of him before but he was amazing in this role. He's exactly my age too, wow. Our birthdays are eleven days apart, lol.

Yeah he’s attractive as hell 😩♥️ and it grew sooo much after seeing him as a villain. Jamie so deserved this character and so deserved a huge break you know he’s very talented. Omg I love him
I LOVE the amount of twists they fit into Vecna’s reveal. I figured Vecna was 001, but had no idea the guard was 001, and ON TOP OF THAT, I didn’t expect him to be Creel’s son. It makes perfect sense.

The 4 bikes upsidedown shot is probably the best shot of the series. I had chills. And the 3-4 twists at the end was so well done my jaw dropped.

Yeah Owens said something like things were happening he was afraid of, which would be 001. And then Owens says "you've fought this evil before" and you think he means the upside down monsters but it really meant 001. Love the writing

008's ability is directly connected to Vecna/001 too...ability to get into people's minds and make them see things. And what did she make her friend see to scare him in season 2?! Spiders! So dope
One seems to have telekinesis, telepathy, and remote viewing. All the kids, Two through Eleven, has variations of those powers. Most of them seems to have telekinesis including Eleven who also has remote viewing. Eight has telepathy - as in she can push illusions into the minds of others just like how One is pushing illusions into the victims he’s grabbing (Chrissy’s parents, Max’s mom and Billy, etc.). Also, Eight told Eleven about using a memory to boost her powers - so maybe One had been trying to work Eight before Eleven and maybe helped her escape same as with Eleven. My point with all this is that Eight is more integral to the lore than just being a spin-off attempt.
Are they all 001's sons and daughters? Maybe the Dr made them in vitro

The actor who plays Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower, played young Grindewald in Harry Potter, was in Mortal Instruments, Twilight and Camelot.
it’s so well written, the telling of 3 stories and the reveal that they’re all the same story at different points in time

Really loved the twist in this episode. I thought it was really strange how they showed everyone get taken out except the son back in the flashback. But him being 001 was absolutely not what I was thinking.
Really hoping the California cast gets more screentime in Volume 2. And some elaboration on Will's super obvious crush on Mike
I'm guessing everyone will reunite by the end of episode 8, beginning of episode 9 at the latest. Not everyone is going to make it either, most likely.

The California cast don't seem the most important this season, especially Jonathan, the writers don't really know what to do with his character anymore which is a shame he was great in s1
I think the writers might be misleading us with the Will's crush on Mike thing, I think Will's painting may be something related to the Mind Flayer, he was a spy after all.

001 tells baby El to find a memory that evokes anger in order to make herself stronger. But El finds primal mother love - and that is a vastly stronger source of power than the psycho hate and anger of 001.
It also reveals to big El how to reach new levels of power for the rest of Season 4! ✋😮 Her love for her friends, and for her adopted Papa Hopper and Mama Joyce.
That scene where it’s the 4 kids on the bikes and then it turns upside down and transitions to the 4 teens on the bikes. Mwah pure cinema right there👌🏻
Every good story has a beginning, middle, and a twist. This was so well executed, exceeded my expectations. Season 4 is looking S tier right now
Marketa is right about 11 killing in smiilar fashion to 001...Even the signature neck snap motion. We first saw 11 do that in the show, but with this predating the events of everything so far, 001 was the first to do that(her younger self witnessing this move before pulling it off later on)
Hopper and Joyce haven't seen each other in a long time, and Joyce even thought he was dead. So its human nature for them to cherish the moment they finally saw each other again. Don't "we gotta get moving" them, are you serious????

so i’m guessing since el opened the gate for the first time here and buried the memory, the second time she was in the void to spy on Russians she found the demogorgon and made contact bc Vecna sensed her presence in the void.
i’m also guessing that vecna took will in season 1, not the demogorgon, for a few reasons. we never actually see the demogorgon take will, just a dark figure. we hear a clock chime during that scene. the figure opened will’s front door with its mind. if it were the demogorgon, it would’ve eaten will.
i also think vecna possessed Billy in s3 bc we hear a clock chime in the opening scene of episode 2. Billy also seems to recognize El when he first meets her as if it’s 001 recognizing her.

I love how we got to know more about the Upside Down with the older teens. The lite brite scene was so pretty and definitely one of my favorite aesthetic moments of the show ✨🥰

Hey just thought I'd point out for y'all that in D&D lore Vecna is an enemy of the Raven Queen (Goddess of Death) who was originally an elf. And throughout this season as they build up the idea of Vecna and 001, they also parallel Eleven to the Raven Queen through things like the chess pieces being ravens, and her going through a ritual to gain more power, and a preoccupation with acquiring memories.
One vs Eleven is literally like Katara vs Hama when they both used blood bending... IDK why but no one can change my mind HAHAHAHAH

So I looked up Soteria, the name of the Chip 001 had in his neck, and apparently it's an alternative treatment for people with schizophrenia.
There are a couple of theories about the relationship between Vecna and Eleven. That he’s either her father or uncle. That his sister actually survived and is Terry.
Jamie Campbell Bower is just a good actor. If you watch interviews with him, he’s a sweetheart in real life.
That's why Vecena didn't kill Max.. because he saw Eleven in her vision ❤️🔥✌🏻

Side note:
The cool electronic music during the Vecna/Nancy/El conversation toward the end is from Koyaanisqatsi, an album and movie that came out in 1982 by Philip Glass. Very ethereal music that's been in a bunch of movies, like Candyman (1992 version), Watchmen, and so on.
Great choice as 80s appropriate plus, well, very cool.
The thing with the spiders is that they're predators and he wants to unleash predators from the upside down into the world to restore balance or whatever.
Also, remember when Eleven broke that bully's arm with her mind in season 1? That was very similar to what Vecna does, and the thing with the eyes I guess is the same principle, she's just not as dramatic as Vecna.

In terms of good mysteries giving the viewers/readers all the clues to solve something without them realising...... in the first episode, you can actually see the vertical crack on the wall when they first showed us the flashback of the massacre. Which, knowing the visual short hands in the show, ought to have clued us in that there was or had been a gate there, and that the Upside Down was somehow involved in the massacre. 😁😁

That episode of this season got me mind blown and mouth open, i couldn't believe so much surprise's and suspension i seriously applaud and was thinking if one day i met the writer of this masterpiece i swear to kiss his hands and shoes 😂💕 that was so much for me

the black widows are basically mini Mind Flayers. Such a clever way to explain how these Upside Down creatures came about. One was already creating his own creatures in the real world, he just continued in the Upside Down.

I think One is just the General and there's a greater power, because they've only shown Hawkins in the upside down. I think there is something beyond Hawkins and they just haven't shown it.
People think that 001 is actually 11’s father. Because they have basically the same powers and Brenner was keen on recreating him.
The Mindflayer is actually the large spider-like creature that can be seen at the gate when El closes it. I'm sure we'll finally get to see it's true form soon enough.

A lot of people seem to think the mind flayer is dead, the part of him that invaded our world is but hes still very much alive. Also the preview seems to show a part of the mind flayer that is contained.
If the whole science thing doesn't work out for brenner, he'd make it as a tattoo artist, thoes lines are tight for freehand 🤣

The fact that they breezed over how the mom knew makes me think there’s more to that story that we’ll eventually learn.
Maybe it's because I'm from the UK, but I only figured out that 001 was Vecna because of the ep intros. Jamie Campbell Bower is credited as a guest star in every single episode and he's a fairly well-known British actor, so he wouldn't play an insignificant part. But he doesn't appear for the first few episodes, so I figured he must be Vecna hiding under all the VFX. Then he showed up as 001 in a later episode, so I figured they must be the same character. It's really great casting, but I wish they hadn't credited him so soon to commit to the mystery. I was still shocked by the Henry Creel twist.

Fun fact: as of this episode, officially there's no character who appeared in all episodes of the show. Mike is the only character who appeared in all episodes before this one and this episode was the 1st episode where he didn't appear
Vecna is not the big bad boss, he has to "hook into" the vine network to do his attacks.
I think The Mind Flayer is the most likely final boss for the final season. It will be interesting to find out if Vecna survives for the final season as well.

Exactly. Dustin literally said he’s a 5-star general. So, there’s a head honcho above him who has higher authority… the Mind Flayer. We just haven’t seen it’s true form yet.
@@retributionpics I hope he does survive this season, it will make the last one even bigger and scarier with both Vecna and the Mind Flayer on the loose. I mean like the other guy said before me, 3 seasons so far have ended with the good guys "winning". Plus Vecna is such a good villain. Movies and tv series this year have done a great job with villains (Vader, Scarlet witch, what if? Ultron, Riddler, Harrow, Homelander) and I WANT MORE

I mean, yeah, Joyce is amazing. However, Murray is MVP! I'm biased of course, as I've really liked him since season 2, and in season 3 he became my favorite character. But still, Murray was incredible this season, incredible and amazing and awesome.

The only thing I don’t get is why the Demogorgon in Russia never left. In season 1 we learn that the Demogorgon can create its own opening to the upside down. It took will and barb to the upside down. So why hasn’t it created an opening and left? It just stays trapped in a prison

So...I honestly believe that Eleven didn't just send One to the Upside-Down, but actually created it that day. It's physically identical to the normal world (with the exception of the living things on both sides) on the day the portal opened, meaning it HAD no physical form before that day. If the Upside-Down was simply rewritten to match the day the portal was opened, it would change forms EVERY time a portal was opened. It wouldn't simply retain the shape it gained when the first portal opened.
My impression is: he was killing animals and turning then into monsters on the upside down world
Just remembering it took ALL of Eleven's power just to kill one of these things, and that one wasn't fully grown like this beast.
The Upside Down is not another dimension. It's the future of Earth.
Now I had my 1 theories, but in none of them, did I expect this dude to be creels son. That was crazy. Also Steve's the goat

I believe that when someone has contact with the Upside-down, it manifests places which they have a strong emotional or familiar connection in the real world. Which is why the Mind Flayer resents the incursion and disruption to his order and vision. Nancy back in 1983, briefly entered the Upside-down while looking for Barb, thus the Wheeler house and her room looks as it did 3 years before. The Hawkins' lab teams did explore as well and would have added to the landscape, and Will, being artistic and observant would have manifested a lot of Hawkins he knew. Hopper would have had detailed knowledge of the entire community, filling in much of the map, per se. Vecna, when he arrived to the Upside-down, manifested places which were important to him, and was in turn corrupted and mutated by the environment. He would have allied with the Mind Flayer to protect himself, but also because of his contempt for the ordinary world. Once Eleven showed enough of her ability to open and close gates, the Mind Flayer would have told Vecna and charged him up to do it himself.
I had an inkling the orderly was 001 and I was pretty sure 001 was Vecna. But the fact that he was also Henry, and that they’re all the same person. Now that’s when my mind broke. I did not see that coming AT ALL
Most people don’t know about the actor playing Vecna is the boy in Sweeney Todd’s who is pining after Sweeney Todd’s daughter.

The Vecna character from D&D is extremely powerful, and in fact in the campaign they were playing in Episode 1 ("Vecna Lives", yes its a real campaign from the 80s), its designed to kill most of the players characters...Id be stunned if we don't get one major death, given the character 001 is a throwback to Vecna. Fantastic season, great reactions as always!

I have a hard time feeling bad for number 2 when he went through the trouble of jumping 11 with 3 other people with psychic powers, keep in mind 11 is also a small little girl at the time as well so shock collar or 11 popping off on him really doesn’t matter to me…however he gets his karma I’m ok, and then he was smug about giving her a concussion and making jokes about it
Yeah it already looks so cruel when they’re doing it to a grown up El but she’s actually a child in that scene so that makes is sickening
Yep and he is continued to give chances to tell the truth. Maybe it's cruel and unusual punishment, but then again so was the crime.
I just found this out, but in every season of stranger things, a grandfather clock can be heard ticking in the background, hinting maybe Vecna’s been here the entire time
