  • With a low base price and a big back seat it's no wonder the Q50 is one of the best selling compact luxury cars in America. For 2017 Infiniti ups the ante with a trio of new turbocharged engines ranging from just over 200 horsepower to a 400 horsepower twin-turbo V6. If fuel sipping is more your style, the 360 horsepower hybrid carries over from last year and will give you some of the highest real world MPGs in the luxury segment.

    An underrated car in this segment. Balances ride and handling very well, and a great hybrid AWD set up. Also offers AWD everywhere and the interior is one of the best designs, aging well

    I don't normally comment on youtube videos, but I enjoy your practical approach to car reviews. I stumbled on this channel after picking up a 2017 q50 3.0tt 300 with DAS, at the end of June 17, for my daily driver. I came from a 2013 G37 and previously owned a 3 series and recently had a lot of seat time in a 535. This is leading up to I love the DAS (as well as enjoy the entire car, which Infiniti did a great job on the redesign). I can almost steer the car with one finger, and in the correct setting, it almost has the same road feel as the G, which had a very heavy feel. However, I can feel the difference and after a month with the car to me the pros of DAS outweigh the cons. IMO, Infiniti constantly hits the sweet spot between luxury, value and performance.

    Great review! I've driven the 17 Q50 3.0TT and it is amazing. I love everything about the vehicle. I currently have a 13 G37x and love it. Everyone complains about interior... I disagree, I like the simplistic look and organized setup. So many autos comes with a confusing setup and rather unattractive knobs and switches. Infiniti has always been my #1. Excited for the future of Infiniti.

      which one us better? Im looking for a used one and my limit is 17000$. should i get the g37 or wait for q50 to drop in price?

    • @blexy350
      @blexy350 7 лет назад +2

      I love my G37. I could have bought a 2014 Q50 with the VQ37 but instead I chose the 2013 G37 (VQ37) and I am so happy I did. The G37 is very refined, classy, sporty and reliable. It is super fun to drive and responds well with performance parts. The G is what brought Infiniti back into the game. If you like the Q50 body style then go for it, they didn't remove the VQ37 from the Q50 model until like 2016 models (replaced with the Mercedes 2.0T and the VR30). But based on your price limit, you could find a used G37 with low mileage for that price . You'd probably only find a Q50 in that price range wth high miles. Let me know if you have any more questions. Happy to help :)

    • @sheri1983
      @sheri1983 7 лет назад

      the g37 will be close to my budget, but my only complain is the gas mileage and the looks I feel the q50 is more beautiful, and also gas mileage, but the prices now for q50 around 19000$ that is out of my budget buy my plan us to wait for the Christmas time to get discount, do u think I will regret if I bought the g37 instead of waiting for q50 to drop in the 15000$ limit? by the way do I have to use premium gas for it?

    • @blexy350
      @blexy350 7 лет назад +2

      I get where you are coming from. I live in Chicago which has a mix of seasons, cold and warm. I have my G with a performance intake and performance exhaust. I do about 80% city driving, stop and go, and usually don't hit a speed limit that exceeds 45 mph to where I am driving for a long period of time. In the colder months, i usually average about 17-19 mpg/270-310 miles per tank and in the warmer months, i usually average 19-21 mpg/310-340 miles per tank. Even with the Q50, you probably won't notice a dramatic difference as it still has the VQ37. Maybe a slight increase. The mpg will do better with the new VR30 (3.0TT) in the new Q50's. I mean you can wait but it's up to you. What do you want to drive? What body style do you like more? Yes I highly suggest using premium, it requires 91 or higher octane. I use 93 octane as that is what is available to me in my area. Anything below 91 octane isn't recommended per Infiniti.

    • @sheri1983

      You know man Im looking for sport luxury sedan that is fun ti drive and still good for family, I have looked at BMW 3 series but put off cause of reliability and then consider Acura TL which is not so much fun to drive, and ended up with Mazda 6 which hit all that with great gas mileage but less luxurious and at last Infiniti G37 So I believe it is between Mazda and Infinti what do you think?

      The first models have had issues, as i recall, in the gear and some other mechanical concerns. Steering wheel too. Those have been addressed the newer models. Most of the new cars which is redesigned will be launched as prototype to detect flaws and have them fixed on the newer versions.

    Hi Alex, big fan of your reviews...really hits all the info that is genuinely helpful when comparing vehicles. I'm wondering why the Jaguar XE and Volvo S60 are not included in this comparison. Both have focuses similar to the Infinity that could be better alternatives than say a BMW 320 or 328 depending on the trim. Also, a future video on the updated Lincoln MKZ would be very helpful. Thanks

      Well the same could be said for the Cadillac ATS and others but that would have made the video 40 minutes instead of 30 so I generally try to limit things to 4 competitors only. This was a hair more just because of the size of the segment and the relative position of the Q50 in the scheme of things.

    Alex, why would the A4 come standard with front wheel drive and not rear wheel drive, because in typical German fashion, rear wheel drive is standard while all wheel drive is optional?

    • @AAutoBuyersGuide
      @AAutoBuyersGuide  7 лет назад +1

      There is some weight savings involved and therefore a fuel efficiency improvement. It's mainly due to the design of the Quattro system however because a transverse FWD would be even more efficient.

      A4 isn't transverse FWD though. It's based on the MLB platform, so it's longitudinal, like the other Germans/Infiniti/Lexus.

      Matthew's Car Corner rear wheel drive is optional on Audi's Quattro 4wd system

    • @Trades46
      @Trades46 7 лет назад

      It is cheaper & more efficient for FWD than AWD. The A4 FWD is essentially an A4 quattro underneath except the rear-wheel driving propshaft has been removed, making the car only drive the front wheels.
      Audi could have easily done it inversely and removed the front-drive shafts and made the A4 a RWD car for its base model, but my guess is that might be a detriment to Audi's instance of AWD being the best and wanted its base car to be slightly less appealing to buyers to push them towards the quattro instead.

    i praised the Q50 when it first came out as i have gotten to spend a few road trips with it, but when compared to the competitors from Cadillac and Lexus the interior is simply a step behind. the Q50 is behind with higher use of injection molds, plastics, and less real leather when compared to Cadillac and Lexus. but, the worst part is the infotainment system. it makes Cadillac CUE system look like one of the best systems on the market, its horrible. the Q50 has simply not aged well when compared to its competitors.

      the only reason some people hate this in touch system is because other people say its bad but when the try it out in person they love it

    That's gotta be one of the cheapest and most boring looking 'luxury' interior I've ever seen, even worse than Acura's plastic looking dash. In fact, Mazda 6 or even Nissan's own Maxima looks better than this at the same price range.
