  • One of my biggest requests has been to update this video. So here it is. Making a stack of paper in geometry nodes. Also as a bonus, I show how to make a Random UDIM tile picker node for shaders!

Glad you like them! I may not be the fanciest, but I try to be at least useful in everyday blending.

Thanks for this amazing tutorial! So helpful. I am using it to create a Vinyl records library/bookshelf. One question - how would i lean/tilt a stack collectively?

That UDIM picker technique is amazing, thank you. Have been looking for a way to do something like this with images for a long time in Blender and I had no idea this was possible :)

As usual - clear and understandable! Grate Hack with Cone to get distance to work with 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

This is blowing my mind. I'm new to blender, and know nothing about geometry nodes yet. I'm going deep on this very topic, that is attempting to get realistic stacks of paper. I dig the modular nature of this approach. How would you add subtle curves or curls to the paper if they are created procedurally...is that even possible? A related question...what about deforming the whole stack like what you would see in an open book (I think it's called page creep") I've seen others simulate that by tweaking each page, but could you do that procedurally with geometry nodes? Thanks for your time on putting this together! Going to check out the rest of your vids.

Great content, as always. I appreciate you revisiting content from older versions as it shows additional methods to address the same topic.
You undoubtably know this, but at 5:00 you could use a Vector Math - Multiply node with the second vector set to {1,1,0}.

Yup, this method stands out to me as a very visual representation of what’s going on. That’s when I like it.

hi, i've been following your tutorial but when i get to 9.33 the random thing is not working, same one texture for all pages, any ideas why? thx

Hi Johny, Thank you for such wonderful information about UDIMs in blender. I also watched your earlier video related to UDIMs. That was also having great piece of knowledge. Hope to learn many more from your side in future.
I am currently trying to learn about UDIMs. I have a situation where one magazine of 30 pages is created. On those I want to have 30 different images to be displayed. So, I tried use of UDIMs. It worked to some extend based on your logic. Thanks for this. However, I am facing one issue that the random factor is repeating many images and I am not able to get the right images in sequence from 1001 till 1030 with increment of one as required. I am completely stuck here for correct direction. Can you please have look and suggest clue for this one? Thanks in advance.

Is it possible with new curve topology nodes to subdivide selectively just straight parts of text curves? For example, excluding about half of "D" text curve, from subdividing? While preserving shape? When I subdivide curve on curvy text parts there are messy wrinkles, if this would be possible trimming text curves would be so much better. (resampling and spline resolution nodes are destroying original font shape or corners)

What if instead of randomly picked page images, I want them in sequence? I cannot find any sort of "Object Index" or "Instance Index" or something like that. Is there a trick to doing this?
