Thank you, for your presentation! I am a 69 year old retired man and decided to get a sewing machine and learn to sew. I have been wanting a canvas crutch holder and also a cover for my powered wheel chair. My wife hates sewing. I remember my Dad using my Mothers old Singer sewing machine to make a cover for the family fishing/ski boat, back in the 60's. With help setting up the sewing machine from Mom and a little instruction, Dad made an awesome boat cover. Well I decided if Dad could do it--then--so can I. I bought the Singer 4452 Heavy Duty and had NO idea where to begin. RUclips is wonderful--I found your channel and you got me started! Thank you!😎🤟

10 pm i’m so thankful I found your video channel. I haven’t seen since college, and I have forgotten everything. This sewing machine was a gift out of the blue, and I am 74 years old, so I thought perhaps it’s a sign I need to learn something new. I’m going to make my friend’s new puppy a bandana coat for Christmas. Thank you so much for Getting me started.

Thank you so much for this video. I have been intimidated to try my hand at sewing. I wound my first bobbin, threaded my first machine, and sewed my first stitches as I watched along with your video. To all the men out there. Sewing isn't just for women!

As a man, I’m well familiar with sewing machines. My mother was a very keen sewer - clothes, furnishings, cushions, curtains, you name it. And she taught me. I’ve had my own machine since I was about 20. I have made my own clothes, but not any more - but any alterations I can do. My wife was amazed to find that I could do all that stuff when we first met 😂. I agree that sewing should be learnt by men too, by the way. 😀

Thank you for taking the time and effort to make this video! I've never sewn before and have been so intimidated to set up my 4452 that I bought. Watching your video, I was able to set it up, load the bobbin, thread the needle all on the first try! You also gave a lot of tips and information that aren't necessarily in the manual but are so helpful for a total newbie like me. Thank you again!

Thanks for this tutorial. I was upset that there was no manual come with my new Singer M1500 sewing machine. Fortunately for me --my son --who is a lot smarter than me---told me that there was probably something on You-Tube telling you about the machine & how it works. He was right. He got on my computer on You-Tube and brought it up for me. I loved the fact that the Lady doing this tutorial was so concise---and informative. I don't know if SINGER is paying her for doing this---but I think she deserves a raise. She makes it looks so easy. Thanks--now I can start sewing on my new machine.

Thank you so much! This video is very much worth the time it takes to sit down and watch it all the way through. I've been using sewing machine since I was a small child, and I was pretty much self-taught. I just got a singer heavy duty machine and I wanted to know some of the details about it. But I'm not a read the book type of guy, so I generally look for videos that are 5 minutes or less. This gives you so much more information than just how to use the machine. It's like hanging out with your best friend when they do a brain dump for you on their favorite topic.

You are absolutely WONDERFUL! I'm a 70-ish man who lives alone and needs to bite the bullet, buy a decent sewing machine, and start repairing my clothes. Actually doing so, however, was a VERY intimidating prospect-until I stumbled on your video this morning.
Because of a lot of on-line research, I was leaning heavily toward the 4452, but your patient, friendly instruction has sold me on this machine. And, you have convinced me that-with your help (via videos)-I CAN learn the basics of setting up and sewing with this machine, at least enough to replace buttons, make buttonholes, hem pants, and maybe even make a camo vest from a pattern.
To say that I'm grateful is a huge understatement!

After much trial and error, I have found that proper threading of this machine, and especially, proper thread tension is critial for smooth and uniform stitching. Do not rely on just the numbers on the dial to adjust thread tension, because threads vary by size, thickness, weight and composition. You must actually feel the tension by pulling the thread through the tensioner to determine the correct setting. This is easy to do. Simply thread the machine as usual but stop just before putting the thread through the eye of the needle. Lower the foot, and then you can confirm if the thread tension is too tight or too loose by gently pulling the thread through the machine. This is an extra step that no one mentions, but will eliminate many thread problems.

    Cutie Mom!!
    😭🤣😂😏🥰I LOVE HER!...
    She's soooo cute.
Thank you, I just bought this machine and just wanted to go over most of the logistics and intricacies.
Especially since it doesn't come with instructions on everything besides the HOW TO THREAD IT, which isn't as easy to translate the drawings as they think.
I've sewn before on my mother's machine with supervision from her but not much and have some projects I want to now do myself.
My mother has passed since then and her pushing me to do some stuff on it on my own helped out alot.
Now your explanation regarding my new machine makes it sooooo much easier to work the machine with ease.
    THANK YOU

Hi, this tour really helped. Im an older man and I make and repair gear I use. Packs, slings, motorcycle gear etc. I bought this machine to do that. I had no idea the presser foot had to be up when threading! That may explain why sometimes it promptly pulled the thread out of the needle on the first stitch.
Also I wasnt holding the thread out and turning the wheel to combine the threads after threading

I just ordered my Singer Heavy Duty 4452 and I should get it in about 3 days, so I am on You tube watching a bunch of videos and this is the best video so far. I am nervous and excited also as I'm new to sewing, I have zero experience, I am learning all these sewing terminology and this video explains everything so well. Thank you so much for your time and very informative video.

WoW! This is the best tutorial I have ever seen--not just about sewing but all around great! What a terrific tutorial teacher you are! Thank you so much for all the detailed visuals and explanations. That sticky note hack is genius! I am old school and had to replace my Old Faithful machine so I bought the 4452. That threader gizmo is a challenge for me. I'd rather just poke the thread thru and get on with sewing. LOL I will now binge watch all your videos and subscribe. I also let all the ads play thru as I know it help$ you. Thanks again.
