    I'v been sewing for 50 years and this is the hardest machine I've ever had to thread. I had to watch this video over and over but once I got it done the stitching looks nice. I just bypassed the self threader and threaded it manually!!

    Great video! As a visual learner, this was super helpful!
    I'd like to add: one thing that I as a newbie had trouble with is that every time I would finish a stitch and go to take the fabric out from the machine, it would be hard to take out. It looked almost as if the bobbin thread was all jammed up or something and when I pulled the fabric it just wouldn't budge unless I really pulled, and then I'd end up with a mess of more strings than just two coming off the fabric. It turned out that all I was doing was not making sure the needle was all the way up and the thing you put the thread in on "5" (sorry, I don't know what it's called) wasn't sticking all the way up. I though if I just raised the needle a little I should be able to pull it out, but that wasn't the case. This information may be useless to some people, and I am not an experienced seamstress by any means so take in mind I may have said something wrong here. If so, feel free to correct me! I just thought I'd share my experience in case it helps someone out there.

    Thank you so much for this tutorial. Its not too long and it's just the right info to get started. I have put off setting up my machine until now because all the other videos were entirely too long. 40-50 mins is too long and I found the info convoluted at that length. You simply know how to explain this with ease. I pick up on things quickly but if the artist is boring I give up thanks again for not being boring and telling us we need to know.

    The extra guides for threading were unexpected, but what really got me was that I couldn’t get the needle thread to catch right so it would be wrapped around the bobbin and pick up the thread. Ended up taking it apart to see what the issue was. Turns out I was holding to much tension on the needle thread, so the little spinny bastard couldn’t catch the loop because there wasn’t enough of one. On the bright side, I learned more about the internals of the machine and that I’m an idiot.

    Thanks for the fantastic videos on Heavy Duty 4452! I purchased some singer transparent class 15 bobbins but they seem to be slightly different than the 4 bobbins included with the 4452 machine. The ones coming with the machine had 2 holes and the height seems to be a bit less; the class 15 ones that I purchased have one slit instead of the 2 holes, and they seems to have slightly more space for the thread (distance between the upper and lower edges seems to be just a little more than the ones that came with the machine. Is this normal and can I use the class 15 bobbins I bought even though thhey seem to be a little different visually? Thanks for your help

    I just opened my machine exactly the same , set it all up, and sewed a few lines on folded cotton fabric. I have the adjustments set as described. I am a experienced, but not advanced sewer. Both sides of the fabric stitches are supposed to look the same, but the bottom side does not look exactly like the top. I would say the stitches are not as defined and look just more like a singular line. I tried playing around a little bit with the tension and length, but it didn’t really make a big difference in this regard. What is up?

    • @robinwild1
      @robinwild1 Год назад

      I am replying to myself as I figured out the problem. Although the tension dial was set at the factory in the middle, it needed to read 4 1/2 in order to get the stitches the same on the top and bottom of the fabric(a normal quilting weight fabric folded in half). So if you have this problem, try turning your tension dial up a bit higher.

    Honest question from an absolute beginner: is this considered an easy to thread machine? This video was excellent and the pace was perfect and I could follow, but the amount of steps to threading seems like a lot could go wrong and I'm pretty sure I could easily mess up the process, LOL. Looking for an easy to use machine for an awkward beginner LOL.

    Nice video, but is there a trick to getting the thread into the hook at " 6 o'clock?" i try with my fingers, but the thread won't go down. i usually need a knife or screwdriver to get the thread in the little hook. This is very awkward and seems like a very poor design, but since most everyone likes it, maybe there's a trick not shown in the video. Thanks

    What brand of thread are you using? It would make life so much easier if you would let us know. Thank you.

    You said you were going to do a close up on threading the needle. I still can't do it the way you said it should happen. Your view from the camera isn't clear enough for me. 😔 UPDATE: after about the 50th time watching, I got it. 😊
