In this video, that presser foot was not snapped on. 04:01 This is also really good to have on RUclips encase the disk is broken or lost and in my case, I'm thinking of buying one of the three models.
Years ago I had a leather wheel instead of the presser foot, and that made easy work of leather. Now I use either silicone spray or tissue paper to stop it sticking. You should test silicone spray to ensure it won’t stain. It can be a long job picking tissue paper out from between stitches. Newspaper works too, but see a few stitches through sandpaper after because it blunts the needle.

For bobbin winding you do not have to use the pre-tension spring, go straight from spool holder to thread guide and then to tension discs and on to bobbin winder.
Hey there Mike, You are correct in mentioning that you don't have to use the pre-tension spring. Although it is not necessary, it provides extra stability for the thread while winding your bobbin. :)
Hello, one very important question, can i use this machine on silk or chiffon or any other very thin fabrics? If i can do i need a specific type of needle or foot? Thank you!
I just watched a RUclips video of a person using the roller foot with chiffon (surprising, as a roller foot is usually used with thick and bulky or textured fabrics!).
Thanks for this the video is pretty clear but in a few places like threading the tension groove it’s not film slowly or close enough or well enough explained to be absolutely crystal clear where the thread should go. So I fear a complete beginner maybe confused even as an experienced sewer like me had to go online to find better photos for the threading the machine. I would suggest it’s useful to do that if you just got this as your first machine in addition to watching this it misses out the part about looping past the metal on the downwards groove. My old singer which I had 40+ years is not working well despite full service I have to keep messing with the feed dogs and tension so I have just brought this one hoping it last half as long as that one did.

Thank you! Can I go from forward stitching to rearward stitching and back again without stopping the movement of the stitching before changing direction?
You are using too many terms that us beginners do not know yet. When you say "Do X," Do Y," "Do Z," it would help me if you first said "This is X," "This is Y," "This is Z." Perhaps this would lead to a longer video/DVD, but if you trim off some of that info in the beginning about how wonderful Singer machines are, you'd have MUCH more time available. We already know how wonderful Singer machines are, else we would not have purchased one.
Raising my bobbin thread doesn’t work as shown on the video Everything else so far has been very easy and the video helps a lot, but I’m stuck on raising bobbin thread, I have it hooked through the tensioner and thread to the back, but it’s not caught and picked up when I hand turn the wheel
Singer 4423 near needle moving up and down smaller than 2 inches popping up when machine is in operartion. After cleaning and oiling trigger cannot stuck with steel sqare plate. Extremly necessary to correct locking and releasing system. Thank u rest is fine to 8 layers of jean pant.
On my 4423, that plastic lid near(bobbin cover) keeps popping up with the slightest touch. I don't even need to use the black bit in order to release it. Is that normal? It is also raised up a little on one side.. Can you help?
Hi. Is it possible to adjust the stitch length with the stretch stitches, or decorative stitches ( on the 4432), or are they fixed at a standard small size?

The top thread is not catching the bobbin thread. What should I do?
Thank you so very much for this video!!! Could you please explain how to clean and oil the machine? Or, if there is already a tutorial for that, send me a link? Thank you!
Hi Elizabeth, you don't need to oil new machines much at all - check your manual or speak to a technician.
Thank you for your answer. Mine is about 8 years old...
Thank you for this video
What if you have a machine that have auto control my tread keep braking
Thank you! Can I go from forward stitching to rearward stitching and back again without stopping the movement of the stitching before changing direction?
Yes you can.
I would like to know if you can use this machine in countries which use 220 instead of 110.
Video very helpful, thank you.
looks like most of this would apply to the 4452 as well
We don't have the 4452 in Australia - but i would imagine being a HD they have similarities.
Thanks for guidance 🙏. Where we will get needles. Please inform. I am from India 🇮🇳
Is it a good machine for new beginners?
It is very simple as you can see
Raising my bobbin thread doesn’t work as shown on the video
Everything else so far has been very easy and the video helps a lot, but I’m stuck on raising bobbin thread, I have it hooked through the tensioner and thread to the back, but it’s not caught and picked up when I hand turn the wheel
Please what's the difference between Heavy Duty and Simple Singer machine
On my 4423, that plastic lid near(bobbin cover) keeps popping up with the slightest touch. I don't even need to use the black bit in order to release it.
Is that normal? It is also raised up a little on one side..
Can you help?
Hi Jefferson, are you able to send through a photo to your local service centre?
Would this sew two layers of webbing. I would like to use it to make dog collars.
It would depend on the thickness of the webbing.
Hi. Is it possible to adjust the stitch length with the stretch stitches, or decorative stitches ( on the 4432), or are they fixed at a standard small size?
