The Men and Women, their Sacrifice, all so I could have my freedom. They are Hero’s. Someone’s family shed tears because their son, daughter, Dad, mom Etc. gave their life for this freedom. I have a respect deep inside of me for their honor and sacrifice, I wished I could thank them all at every grave stone and even those who are mia. We have the greatest country in the world and I love it. Glory to America!
I shall not fail I shall not be silent in church temple I shall shout from the roof tops confess my love for God ill sore with eagles ill shepherd you to God good and kind loving God
How we have squandered and taken for granted the freedom they bought for us. I think about that as I listen to some know it all whine and complain about how the United States of America is such a horrible place to live.
The US has ALWAYS had major flaws, especially as it relates to its treatment of certain segments of its own population. We fought for freedom in other countries, yet have not espoused those same ideals in our own country. Black soldiers, for instance, would fight in Europe for other people's freedom, only to come home with no rights themselves and be spat on by white Americans while wearing their uniforms. One black WWI veteran, Wilbur Little, was even lynched by whites for refusing to remove his military uniform, and many other black soldiers were physically attacked for the same reason. Of course no one was ever punished. During WWI, the US actually pawned black *American* soldiers off to the French; it is a disgrace to place American soldiers under the command of a foreign force. Despite this, Black American units, under French command, demonstrated untold heroics that the American government didn't think they were capable of, and were awarded France's highest military honor. They would come home to America and not be celebrated at all. You may like to pretend that this version of America doesn't exist, but other people do not have that luxury. Patriotism is *not* believing that that US is perfect and cannot be criticized. It is striving to perfect your country in the hopes that it will one day live up to its stated ideals. People who don't strive for this are least patriotic of all. The day you cannot criticize your country and speak about its flaws is the day your country begins its downfall, as you will simply revel in ignorance in of all your flaws, rather than strive for much needed improvement. America has not changed for the better through the do-nothing, performative patriotism that you profess.
God bless them all who died for us our future and our freedom 🙏
