    A year ago I started using the A-Game 5 from G&G, it was my first time with retinoids and it worked great in my sensitive rosacea prone skin. I started using it once per week the first week, then the second week twice, until I manage to used it every single night. After the first bottle I switched it for the A-Game 10 and started to using it twice per week the first week, the second week three times and then every single night. Since then, I'm still using it every night and It has never given me any irritation, purging or sensitivity at all. It is very gentle but at the same time very effective because the results are great, my skin is better than ever and I'm 42 years old. And I think the strongest product with retinal in the market at this moment is the Crystal Retinal 20 from Medik8, it has 0.2%. I have never used it because I think it is very pricey and I am happy with G&G.

      It's great you were able to integrate retinal so nicely into your routine. I have the exact same experience with retinal and I have never looked back! I'm curious about Medik8 but the G&G is just so good that I can't bring myself to purchase it at that price! Thanks for watching ;)

    I've been using retinaldehyde for twenty and I don't see the need to go anyway stronger.
    I'll be 52 in a bit and use Avène.
    When I started it I went straight in with 0.05 percent all over every night and when my skin got a bit tender I skipped a night and then got back on it.
    I could never tolerate regular retinol before that, but retinaldehyde was a breeze

    I've been using Medik8 retinal for two years stepping up from 1-6 ...pretty effective with consistent use with very little reaction, but is quite exxy long term. I believe A-Game is quite similar and easier on the pocket so will definitely be trying it out next. I've become a G & G convert thanks to the Formula Skincare making it available in Aus.

    I started using the YTTP Retinal for about a full year before I was prescribed tretinoin. I also have combo to oily skin. I was told by my dermatologist to use the Tretinoin (0.025%) 3 times a week and continue with my YTTP Retinal the rest of the week. I’ve going on Tret since early December and I never peeled or got any irritation from the tret. I didn’t purge either, but I was prescribed tretinoin for anti-aging and acne scars, not acne itself as I no longer get breakouts beyond the random hormonal one.
    I think that having been doing Retinal for so long before starting tret helped significantly; as my skin does tend to be both acne prone and sensitive.

    the great thing with YTTP is that it's a powerhouse. no need to get another niacinamide serum since it already has 5%, or a ceramides ampoule. so for all 3 in one product, the price point isn't so bad.

    Just subscribed, Julia! Really impressed that you reviewed By Wishtrend, I thought I was the only one that knew about it ;) Love this product, I alternate it with G&G .5% A-Game. I love Bakuchiol, I got started with it with Paula's Choice 2% Bakuchioil and .3% Retinol. I used that for about 18 months and had excellent results. Wanted to go to Retinal and found the Retinal products that I'm using now. From what I've read about Bakuchiol, is that its strength is to use it with a Retinoid product for maximum effectiveness.
    Have you tried any of the Mae Love products or the Naturinum Retinal yet?

I haven't yet tried the Naturium retinal as it's not available in Australia yet. I've had Maelove on my skincare wishlist for ages so I need to get around to trying a number of their products. Wish I had more than once face to try all these things haha :)

    Hi Julia, how much is Differan gel/cream (Adapolene) in Australia? Do you need a prescription for it there?
    Cheers for the info.
    Have you had experience with Tretinoin by the way?

    • @theformulaskincare
      @theformulaskincare  Год назад

      Hi! Apologies for this delayed reply - somehow my original one got deleted. Adapalene is about $85 here in Aus. Yes, you need a prescription for it. I have been prescribed both Adapalene and Tretinoin in the past. My skin definitely responds to Adapalene better with less irritation. I find results from retinal to be excellent with little to no side effects so it's my retinoid of choice for now! Thanks for watching x

    I have used the Avene Retrinal 1% and was really happy with it but unfortunately have had to import from America as it is not available in Australia
    I cannot understand why as I can import it - so frustrating.

      Here in Aus we don’t have that line, but the Antioxitive line has one with the exact same strength. Also their Cleanance line has a high percent of retinal in one product too. Its frustrating that they don’t have the same lines internationally.

      I am using Medik8 Crystal Retinal just now. After using Tretinoin. What I like about about Medik8 because it provides steps. .01,.03,.06,.1, and .20 (which requires consultation). Although I had been up to Tretinoin at .05, I chose to start at .03 just to get my skin used to it, as I’ve had a gap since Tretinoin. I’ve had absolutely no problems.
      I’ve also had the Joseon eye cream which I use it all around my face, and like she says, it’s nice to alternate nights with it,. I’m also using it on my neck as I’m very sensitive there. P.S. Medik8 is not inexpensive and the price increases with each step, but I believe 1 tube lasts2 months, or near that.

    Can you use any strength retinol while breastfeeding??

    • @theformulaskincare
      @theformulaskincare  Год назад

      It's generally advised to cease use of topical and oral vitamin A derivatives during pregnancy and breastfeeding. There are limited clinical studies on the use of topical Vitamin A in pregnant women and there's not likely to be future studies due to the potential risk. It's best to check with your doctor or dermatologist for their expert advice and recommendations for alternatives to vitamin A. Thanks for watching!

  • @tentitoo

    between tretinoin and retinal what would you advise?

    • @theformulaskincare
      @theformulaskincare  Год назад +1

      It really depends what you’re wanting to treat and the severity of your condition. If it’s general anti-ageing benefits you’re after, I’d recommend beginning with a retinal before going down the tretinoin path. It’s easier once you have some experience of a potent retinoid I find personally. Your doctor or derm will be able to advise based on your skins needs. Thanks for watching!
