@@draxlerchronicles5851 You've just given me an excuse to include my two cents worth. The three brothers really were good looking. One of the best photos ever taken of them was the group photo, on the inset of their "Beach Boys Concert" album, from 1964. It was taken by George Ingstead, a long time Hollywood professional photographer. They never looked better. I remember Carl, boyish and good looking (who had a beautiful voice, along with Brian), and the youngest of the Beach Boys, always seemed to epitomize the youthfulness of the group, while being the quieter and thoughtful one to Brian's complicated genius, and Dennis's hellraiser. On the behalf of just about every Beach Boys fan in the world, I wanted to say thanks for finding and posting this rare footage. There is SO little interview video of Brian Wilson from this time frame, as he was in the middle of feverishly writing and producing an amazing run of hits. It is a rarely-seen window into what was making him "tick" at the time.
This is precious beyond belief. Love how she keeps trying to attach "Little Old Lady from Pasadena" to the Beach Boys. They're amused and good natured about being associated with their buddies Jan and Dean...
brian is one of those people who are not seemingly cocky or arrogant, but just, 'he knows that he knows' what he wants to do, and the way he wants to do it, the man with a plan, he doesn't need confidence, because he's already at peace with himself about his music, is he human, does he make mistakes? sure, but he's a great 'adjuster' of things, to work them to what he desires :) for brian, music is like sleeping, tieing your shoes, walk in the park, it was always other parts of his life where difficulty came in, I've had lot of indicators, and the guy just 'exudes' humility and love, I sure hope he's born again in Jesus, who the bible says IS love...........

…and he was a Senior in High School at this taping. Met Carl and Mike and Al in Connecticut back in 1994 when they arrived from a concert 8n Connecticut..
Best interview of the Beach Boys I've seen so far - at least from the 61-65 era. She asks some great questions and I love the flirting, especially when Dennis compliments her on her dress and she runs with the compliment and tells them a little about the dress she bought while he and Carl act genuinely interested and remain polite. What a great bunch of guys they were even at such a young age. Just when you think you couldn't love the BBs more than you do, a newly discovered piece of video makes you love them even more.
To a Beach Boys fan, this video is pure gold! From the footage shot from behind of them performing on stage to the interviews with each Beach Boy, this is a rare glimpse into the real world of the musical icons in 1964. Absolutely incredible! Thanks, OHS, for sharing this fantastic video.
I agree! However I could tell she did seem to like Dennis more because she seemed a little more friendly with him compared to Al. I feel so bad for Al, people tend to ignore him and not consider him as good of a Beach Boy. He’s my 2nd favourite Beach Boy (Bruce being my favourite) and I don’t get how a lot of people don’t like Al. 😟
Even Mike was charming and sweet in this one. This lady was the perfect person to interview them. She was kind, respectful and playful without being silly. Sweet southern lady brought out the best in them. She kept insisting they did Little Old Lady From Pasadena, though. hahaha.
I really, really love this interview from Springlake Amusement Park Amphitheater in Oklahoma City. It’s wonderful seeing all of The Beach Boys from August 1964 on the “Summer Safari” tour. Ida was a gifted journalist who knew how to calm the interviewee when they were nervous on tv. (Ida B. Blackburn was a pioneer of broadcast journalism from 1954-1974.)
This is a really great interview so positive and down to earth. Each band member being interviewed gives the viewers an opportunity to enjoy their personalities, especially their favorite member. Their humbleness helped them make the big time! 😊❤
Legendary band from the 60s, love their music, way before my time, but still love the group thanks to their music with my grandparents when they grew up with their music
the beach boys were THE all west coast american group...in europe, back in the mid 1960`s, we saw them as typical american youths, handsome, healthy, wholesome (long before tales of drugs, alcohol addiction etc.)..surf loving...images of trendy cars, girls, beaches, sunshine, warmth, beach games, suntans, shiny teeth, friendly, harmony....they looked like typical television youngsters and we could identify with them, knowing all too well that our real world was often dull, grey, cold and grim....they represented a golden time on the west coast of america...their music recalls that glorious period and is uplifting, escapist, evocative and enduring.
Obviously, this was before Brian's breakdown which occurred on December 23, 1964. He looks and sounds great here. What a sad life he ended up having after his nervous breakdown happened. It wasn't wasted, just sad.
11:47 looks like shots from "That Thing You Do" movie that Tom Hanks made. He really nailed the era, and calls his production company "Playtone" after the name of the record company in that movie. If you havent seen it, its a very well done movie of the 1963-4 era. "Almost Famous" is a very well done movie of the 1971 era. See them both.

Beautiful lady not condescending....actually sounds interested in what they do! Nice interview!
Double pleasure...
A great find! Thanks so much!
Totally amazing! Mike was actually pretty well behaved during this.
As far as Ida...this clip goes to show that you didn't have to have much talent to be a host, or even pay attention to anything for that matter, at least back then.
Thanks for sharing.
I don’t know Ida from Adam, but she’s pleasant
Mike is humbled here. Then his ego inflated worse in the later years
I thought she did a good job.
@@Gardosunron They were struggling not to laugh at her while thinking "what the heck lady! Ask some real questions and not what a 5 year old would ask...or just leave us alone!"
The Boys deserved such a classy interviewer.😎
Thank You myra1959 for info on who those 3 musicians were, Wow The Kingston Trio. Thanks Again !!!
Like the Beach Boys but what a treat, what a delight to watch Ida do her complete interview of the band. Of course Dennis finds her attractive 😂
