Made me chuckle a little, I'm Catholic and I've petitioned my local lodge, I've always felt that whole anti masonic stance the church had was just pointless. Some may still hold it im not really sure but whatever the case im hoping to join and I highly respect masonry.
My Dad is Catholic, and I was raised Presbyterian. I can assure you there is NOTHING objectionable to your faith within Masonry. To the best of my knowledge, the Church these days is taking a less hostile approach, but your mileage may vary. Good luck in your Journey Brother.

I think you did a great job in this video separating the fact from fiction, but I do have one question regarding your debunking of the Silence Dogood letters. While Brother Franklin wasn’t a Mason at the time of writing the letters, couldn’t he have still used the letters for the cipher later on? I agree with you about making good men better. But we don’t have some on-high authority giving us particular missions to carry out. There’s no central grand lodge that gives us all marching orders- beyond the Grand Architect or course.

By the time the axe fell, the treasure was back in the hands of its rightful owners and the King got what Paddy shot at.

Well national treasure is a movie. It’s fun. It’s for entertainment. It uses US and Masonic history as a sort of plot device. It shouldn’t be confused with a documentary. The filmmakers aren’t claiming it’s a legit portrayal of history. And the people who think it IS real history are idiots.

There has never been any link between the Illuminati (who were not the bad guys, as portrayed in Angels and Demons..but were philosophers, engineers, scientists etc. meeting together to discuss all sorts of issues) and Freemasonry. It existed areound trhe back end of the 18th century....and was only in existence for around 10 years or so.
Maybe Ben Franklin's affiliation with the Hellfire Club can account for some of the confusion. And perhaps there are also simply different kinds of "masons."
The Founding Fathers who were Freemasons btw were not Religious Zealots at all look at their phrases about Religion and you will see that they dislike Religion from all there heart
Absolutely wonderful video. The only problem I had with it was your misunderstanding of the last cipher. The way it works is that you take a previously published work any book and the message you were going to encrypt and find the letter you need in the message in the book and write it down like page-line-letter in line. So, even if Franklin wasn’t a mason at the time when he became a mason, he could’ve used his own letters as the reference book. Also, the rarer a book is the more likely the cipher will never be broken.
You’re not the first to make that point. And i think that’s a fair read on it. So you could be correct if any of this were true. But at the end of the day it’s all fiction.

Actually sir I partially have to disagree with you and I put emphasis on partially about Freemasons being connected to the Knights Templar. It’s been proven last year by a Forensic Geologist named Scott Walters; He’s proves that Knights Templars and the Freemasons were “Brothers through time”. at the time of the KT it was ilagle to charge intrest. so they chareged a hanling fee.

I find everything you said it's not it actually is, first beign a mason you don't expect Ben to air that nor Charles, and those are symbols linking everything to masonry I believe there is a reason why, finally Silence Dogood should ring a bell to Masons on 🤫. We might not all be Masons yet but on our way, so I FHEAL the movie has everything to do with the opposite of what you say it's not.
The movie is FICTION and tho it based the story on a few real historical facts it is fiction. Don’t confuse the two.
