Revealing Hidden Truths of FOUR Freemason Phrases!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 9 фев 2025
- In this video, Maynard Edwards, a 33rd-degree Scottish Rite Freemason, takes you through four commonly misunderstood Masonic phrases that often stir controversy-both among Masons and conspiracy theorists alike. Freemasonry has its own language, and anti-Masonic groups love to take words out of context to paint the fraternity as something it's not. Maynard clears up these misconceptions by explaining terms like "Supreme Architect of the Universe," "Worshipful Master," "So Mote It Be," and the often misunderstood Hermetic phrase "As Above, So Below."
Through historical context and a closer look at the meaning behind these words, you'll learn why Freemasons use these terms, how they fit into the Masonic tradition, and how they've been misinterpreted over time. Whether you're a Freemason or just curious about the fraternity, this video sheds light on the deeper meanings of Masonic language and helps dispel some of the myths surrounding it. One phrase we always argue about in the work at my Blue Lodge and even how to pronounce it is the old English word "bade".

How about "Due Guard"?
Some brothers criticize the book, Born in Blood, for flawed evidence. But that doesn't mean the book doesn't get anything right: I think the author's discussion based on a French expression is persuasive.
Maynard, what do YOU think?
I think Born in Blood is long on speculation and short on fact. Not that it is wrong per se, but there are too many gaps in fact for it to be accepted. If we could PROVE more of it it, that would be great. again, not that its wrong. It may be spot on. It's been awhile since I read it so I don't recall the exact discussion on due guard.
But I think this is a good word for an upcoming video! Thanks for the idea!
@@MrGBrooks9 my comment was more so sarcastically intended. You know what not to reveal and what is okay
My father was a shriner, and my late grandparents were Prince Hall Master Masons and Order of Eastern Stars, respectively. I am not a freemason, but I found this video to be insightful and enlightening. Thank you for sharing! 😊😮

Hello brothers and Fellows I am an EA in the Abraham #7 Lodge AF&AM in Houston Texas, Isaac Grand Lodge from Arizona. Thanks! Amazing video!
Good morning Brother Edwards. I'm a Past Master from Canton Lodge No. 60 F&AM in Canton, Ohio, a member of Valley of Canton AASR in Canton, Ohio, as well as a past presiding officer of all three York Rite bodies in Canton. I love this installment, but while I'm sure there are several others, the one word missing I think could be cleared up is "light". This word appears in our public ceremonies as well as private. However, for our more conspiracy driven neighbors, they seem to believe these references to light are in replacement to the light mentioned in the Bible such as in John 8:12 and Psalms 27:1. I now it's not, however... It's something that might be worthy of explanation.
@@n8mmr How many were the children of Zattu?
Nine hundred and forty-five (Ezra 2:8)
Eight hundred and forty-five (Nehemiah 7:13)
@n8mmr I believe "light" simply means "knowledge"...specifically, of Freemasonry.
@@MST07_H In various religious texts, there are sometimes differences found in common translations. I'm not sure of the cause of this. Respectfully, I suppose my question would be what relevance is there to the Children of Zattu as applied to Ezra or Nehemiah to the video or the following discussion? There might be, but I don't see it. Regards!
@@n8mmr
It has been argued that the Christian religious texts have been subject to alterations over the centuries, and that these are not merely errors in translation. Some scholars contend that these texts contain numerous inconsistencies and flaws that cast doubt on their authenticity. I am prepared to provide specific examples of these contradictions if you wish. Thank you for your response, however, your previous question was not entirely clear, so I am unable to provide a precise answer.
Good idea! I will add this to my list.
Great video as always, from an Irish Brother
Glad you enjoyed it!
I became a hermeticist before I became an Entered Apprentice. Having been a Master Mason for some time as well as a Hermeticist, I am happy on how well the two mesh together!
How does one become a Hermeticist?
@@Rooster_Sailing you just study and if you want to take if further, you practice. For philosophical teachings, read the Hermetica. For practical teachings, 22 Teachings is a school for hermetic arts - Alchemy, Tarot, Astrology etc. The journey is individualistic and doesn't look like anything in particular.
As someone who also practices the Western Mystery tradition, i have to agree. Masonry is an excellent fit, which is probably why historically there has been so much cross pollenization /inspiration from Masonry into other Fraternal societies
I agree

Thank you for the clarification for those who wish to see. "As Above/So Below" is a spiritual universal principle in Matthew 16:19 and 18:18. "Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven".
another great example!! On earth as it is in Heaven hits so hard to the conspiracy nuts though!

Not a mason but was raised by one, I have one question. I always thought freemasonry was an oral tradition and not to be written down. Why is it acceptable now to be more open about the teachings?
It’s always been a bit of a myth that it’s all secret. There are centuries old books and papers on masonry. Don’t believe the history channel nonsense.

Thank you brother i just had my interview a week ago from a master mason of the lodge I’ll be apart of a four letter lodge . I’ll be going in as a EA but I’m nervous also I come from a family of masons. And OES”s I didn’t wanna go to the same lodge as my father and brothers was apart I heard it would be a conflict of interest is this true ?
My son joined my lodge. I think most son's follow in their Dad's lodge if it is geographically reasonable.
Thank you!
There is this question about god, when we (sufis) say the pure being we are talking about the most hidden aspect of god,but when we say creator or as you say the architect,we are talking about the pure face or the great name of god,do you have this?do you consider a hidden aspect for this architect?
We let each man decide for himself. The fraternity does not approach the just privileges of religion.

Greetings from El Paso Texas Valley.
I've heard "by hook or by Crook," but I'm not a Mason. I don't think I used the right crook, but I think it has to do with Egypt. Perhaps, one of my ancestors was because according to my dad's efforts in genealogy, his sides have been here since 1637 after a long voyage on a Flemish ship which landed in Virginia. Anyway, not bragging, there are many Cottrells of various spellings in America due to census records. It means cottage because back then, one had to pay the way for the voyage in indentured servitude. This, of course, isn't slavery in the stricter sense because the person could earn freedom over time. It supposedly meant something like a rooster. Cottrell were in the battle of Hastings 1066. Yea, big jump, I know. We are supposedly related to the Wades and Hughes and did survey work for George Washington. I like history. Sorry for the long unrelated tangent.
Excellent

It's been a learning experience but due to joint issues I haven't been able to go to meetings for a while and due to those joint issues I had to step down from line in blue lodge after my dr warden year and the year I was high priest I was supposed to be second in line for high priest but the brother who was supposed to be high priest that year died after 2 heart attacks I was asked if I wanted to take the office I told everyone if you have enough confidence in me to be there I'll do I'd rather you decide that instead of my taking it
Thank you for stepping up for the craft!
@@ScottishRiteMasons it was a pleasure to serve the lodge and my chapter/council as high priest for chapter and the officers positions I had in council the hardest part of it was learning the ea lecture I had started learning it to take some of the responsibilities off of the brother who I referred to that passed and the brothers voted me in as high priest in my chapter this brother he did the ea fc and mm lectures and charges and did the lectures and charges in the York rite I've always been a quiet person and due to having to return my exams in front of the lodge it helped me be become more comfortable speaking in front of others granted I still get nervous but I can do it easier so serving my lodge/chapter/council was the least I could do
Most Christians should recognize "as above so below" as "on Earth as it is in Heaven." There's nothing nefarious about it.
they should but many don't. SMH. Thanks for watching!
I would love to understand why in the USA you cannot get iniciated directly in the scottish rite and you have to spend the first 3 degrees in the york rite in order to get to the scottish rite.
There are some Grand Jurisdictions where you can.
The reason is simple: York degrees planted their flag first and grand lodges were already well established.

Freemasons regularly field preposterous questions/comments, often coming from disingenuous or inflammatory positions. Depending on how you worded your questions, especially when nuance is lost in text, they may have taken it as being disingenuous. Perhaps bring your concerns here to see if you get the desired results.
Sorry that was your experience. Had you visited a lodge or reached out to a brother in person you might have gotten some help.

There's a whole video on here with myself and Dr. Brent Morris. This is a silly mash up from the Taxil Hoax more or less.
The main question to ask people when they say "you are luciferian" is: what proof of this is there?
They will say "albert Pike said it in Morals and Dogma". he didn't. He said Lucifer brings false light to fool feeble minded men.
As an aside NOWHERE in scripture does it say Satan and Lucifer are the same and the word Lucifer isn't in most modern translations.
i have been the Master of my lodge twice. believe me the memers did not worship me. respected yes but "worship"
I greet you well from a London, England.
Brother Darrin Lowery, York Rite, Riverside Lodge #862, Riverside Illinois. Just subscribed!
Welcome brother! Glad to have you.
What I would like is, a 33rd to dispel the lie that once you get this Degree that you worship the Devil...
I am a 33rd degree Scottish Rite mason. Jesus Christ is my personal Lord and Savior. There is no Satanic element in any Masonic degree. We have men who are of faiths besides Christian. But in no way is Masonry anti-Christian.
I don’t know but somehow you do? Laughable nonsense. There are 33 Scottish rite degrees. No more. It is the last degree. Have a nice day.
Albert Pike's book absolutely DOES NOT say this. You googled something and came away with the Taxil Hoax. (Look it up). And now you type that as a fact. When you knowing spread misinformation, it is called LYING. And by pretending to read a book you haven't and quote incorrectly from it, you are being untruthful. If you are a Christian, you should know better.
It takes an absolute minimum of 8 years to go from 32 to 33, and it usually takes longer than that. Are you telling me that these men who worshipped God all their lives and spent a minimum of 8 years believing that Masonry was talking about God suddenly finds out that i was about the devil and just say, Oh, ok. no problem"?. What an absolutely ridiculous thing to believe.
I guess you are not understanding what I am saying, I don't believe this, but I wish you would do a video dispelling this lie. You are getting hostile and you misunderstood what I was saying... From understanding Freemasonry, there are secrets you can't talk about. And the 33rd is VERY tight lipped so that no information comes out on the initiation Ceremonies...
Just got a copy of ,stranger than fiction, by Alphonse cerza 33° He covers quite a bit of anti masonic topics in it..Alot of other interesting info in it as well

If Freemasonry isn't a religious organisation, why do you celebrate St Johns Day, 24th June?
Most masons are Christian or catholic or any other of the abrahamic religions he says it in the video🙄
@@teecee1567 they don't per se.
Lodge meetings in England under UGLE used to meet on 27th December and 24th June if you go back far enough. Known as the two saint John's days. One, John the Baptist, one John the Evangelist. In many of the Antients lodges, one of these days was installation, the other a feast or charity day.
In the bustle of modern life, and I mean at least since before 1900, this tradition has died out because of the commercialism of Christmas and the dropping of all year masonry.
Interesting thought that neither England nor America have a saints national holiday do they?
Yet majority of mainland Europe have national saints day holidays
