I accidently left this running for 10 mins while I did something, and I came back to him playing Orisa. That's probably the best description of playing Rein in OW2.

@Alexander Wagner more so a season back because a number of factors. Poor Summary is basically long range weapon meta is uncontested while simultaneously nerfing submachine guns heavily. Even changing smg attachments to no longer take any barrel stabilizers as well as increased recoil across the board. That is also when they released a new hero who's ultimate is a sniper rifle that marks targets for double damage for them and the squad. Thus making long range meta even more dominate with less counter play for lower skilled players especially.
Edit-- plus ranked point changes and no cap on killpoints in ranked encouraging more aggression...

Yesterday I was playing in mystery heros as rein and within 1 minute every single charge I had done was stunned by their rein counter charging, their brig shield bashing and their ana sleeping me. Felt like I was playing ow1 again.
Well basically it feels like OW 1.9 to me anytime playing a tank who isn't Orisa or Hog.

I play a lot of Rein and find that he is simply outclassed by most other tanks. The longer range poke game that Flats brought up when Ramatra came out is 100% true.
I find the only counter to orisa or rammatra as rein is charge them off the map. Or brawl with the team focusing the other tank. Rein is still fun for me

@@josiahlaverty3220 Very true. Be aggressive and push into the enemy team so your dps can position and get their shots in and take the aggro so they don’t focus your support. The rest is just cleanup.
You can only play rein when both tanks are absolute gigachads having nothing but respect for each other and both pick rein. This then gives an u breakable bond between those two tanks, they become brothers, it is a choice, it is holy

I wish Reins Firestrike had a faster animation. And his pin start up. It would also help if pin wasnt based on tge targets latency but mine. You know like EVERYTHING ELSE.
I wish the Charge turn is based on mouse movement.
Gotta anticipate where the victim will be and get an odd angle
How to buff Rein (you can add your own opinions onto the buffs or if that be too strong/weak)
1. Give his pin ability a shield like a 75 or 100 HP shield or better idea make that shield tied to the HP of his actual shield so if you have 1200 shield up you ram with 1200 shield and whatever get depleted affects your current shield status
2: fire strike can get apply a burn effect so 90+ 10 ticks of burn (so 10 damage)
3. The longer he swings his hammer the faster it gets (as someone else in the comment said) but not a lot maybe like 2-3.5% increase at maximum swing speed that you built up to by like 0.5% per swing (but it only builds up on hits so you can't just pre ramp up)
4. His shield regenerates a bit faster maybe like 2% faster
The ult is whatever... I think it fine.. Maybe make it apply burn idk

@@Uncharted_lol true true but they could include a decrease like if you miss a swing you lose. 5% so they'll be some skill reward for hitting and a penalty for missing being not gaining optimal damage

I think the best buff to rein is when his shield is broken rein gets a movement speed increase
I feel like I dominate every comp game as rein, they switch ramatra and the game instantly swings in their favor and we lose

I love playing rein he’s so fun. The most fun I’ve had is probably playing qp no roles and I had my friends be healers and I was rein. Steam rolled everyone Bc healers pocketed me XD

Honestly, the fact that reins Shield doesn't block orisas ult is actually dumb It 100% should block it. That's the hold point of the shield is too block damage, is it not?

@@HiIeric117 I just think they need to bring down the dmg on tanks and swap some people to a bruiser roll with slightly less dmg than dps. Then let dps have the option to pick between bruisers and dps, to allow more or less tackiness in the comp. Right now it just feels like you have one god mode player (tank) and the rest are wet noodles

@@rottenmeatpuppet Idky they had to reduce it. Maybe so you couldn’t get two-shot as a 200hp character. Although if two fire strikes hit you, I’d say that’s deserved
They need to reduce the health of the tire to like 75 or 80. Or reduce the damage or radius, its a free fight win in most situations.
Rein should get a shield boost with his charge that gets bigger and bigger with the distance of the charge.
The problem with tanks in ow2 is there’s no equal counter play between most match ups - you just switch and win. Like rein can’t do anything against Orisa but be bullied.

Yeah rein is getting bullied rn, first doom, now orisa got buffed, and Ram is in ranked.
I'm betting junker queen will get tweaked next and she'll walk over him if she gets anything substantial.
This is a wonky idea but what if Rein could like his hammer on fire with a new ability replacing the firestrike animation causing a burn effect on his hammer for a few seconds that lights enemies on fire, or you can keep firestrike with that and also add a burn effect to it as well

I like that - you could make it a secondary use of Firestrike. Use the same charges and cooldown.
Either chuck it forward in the normal strike or light your next swing on fire and do like a fire DoT to everyone hit.
