Playing against hog is about as fun as playing against sorjoun. I’d actually say it’s worse because he literally never fucking dies.
I've started running Sombra to hack hogs during their heal. They switch off pretty quick. Same with the Doomfist players. I just had how much of a resource sink he is to play against.
As a Junk main, taking down a Sojourn requires planning a mine-jump, good positioning to deal with her cooldowns and using the team, or just going YOLO and trying to take her down before she slides out or gets her 1-shot. You can definitely make it work, but depending on the situation it can be difficult.
Taking down an Orisa solo requires a whole plan to lead and trap her in a closed space, use ricochets, and inevitable go into a 1v1 where her spear can end the game. It’s hard, but it’s very possible, and if she gets reinforcements they can get hit by the splash damage. Honestly it’s a fun fight.
Planning a Hog trap literally can go perfectly according to plan, and he will either kill me or I will have to mine jump out before I die, and at the end of it he’ll never be below 25% after emptying my ammo, catching sometimes 2 traps, using mines so he doesn’t land hook, and then he’ll just get back to full because of course the healers want him alive. It’s so stupid.
And it won’t matter unless I have a whole team with me because unless I have a Baptiste or Kiriko keeping me from dying in 1-2 hits, it won’t make a difference.
I think we can all agree that hog mains are a whole different breed of subhumans XD

Yeah that pin onto the Reaper was immaculate, and it doesn't even reward a kill. He just ghosts out, doesn't even need help to survive it.
The pin not killing 250 hp targets wouldnt be an isssue if the 250 hp targets didn’t both have abilities that could save them for free

Nah, rein pin is one of the worst abilities in the game, for the amount of risk involved, it has to be high damage or its barely worth it. 225 isn't enough, just make it 300 again, ffs. And 100 damage firestrike, that way IF you can potentially hit two shots on the same squishy, BEFORE they get any heals, that's an insanely high skill maneuver, and you should deserve that kill, especially if you hit them through a window.

Fun fact Hog and/or Sojourn can be busted for multiple seasons.... Sym got to be a meta pick for like a day in OW1 before she was nerfed.
Genji was meta for two weeks and then was gutted to an even worse position then before his buff

7:06 I think that a hero being on a razors edge of balance generally means that the hero themself is quite strong but is hard shutdown by their counters. So when the counters are no longer effective you see the true power of the hero (Kiriko allowing Hog to run free). My solution would be to nerf the hero *and* their counter to make the "knifes edge" a little more dull, so to speak.
In the case of Hog it would mean nerfing him a bunch, while also nerfing anti nade. Specifically I'd like to see anti nade no longer completely blocking healing though it's duration but instead reducing it by say 80%. For Hog I think reducing his healing to 200 but reducing it's cooldown in an effort to make healing through damage less effective, reducing hook range, and reducing primary fire damage would be a good starting point.
He literally shatters air but if you look closely it’s the built up self-esteem he didn’t destroy in the first round.
It’s the little things about Flat’s gameplay that makes me respect him as a player
For example at 2:13 he shatters the cree and Kiriko. If that were me I would’ve hard tunnel visioned the Kiriko to confirm a support kill and deny any cleanse plays but Flatts recognizes that he’s against ANOTHER REIN who has pin off cooldown so he reads this then backs off to dodge the pin.
I would’ve gotten pinned into the next century and lost the team fight

Without totally reworking his kit, what’s the best way to rework hog? Lower his damage to be more on par with other tanks? Limit his hook’s range? Longer cooldowns?
I think tweaking the numbers is not the solution. In this state, they need to give him a soft or total rework. He Still needs to keep his character but also be able to tank. I personally would lower his damage a lot, give him 2 hooks and give the breather maybe a team utility like JQs shout

@Flats I feel like alternating stab and shotgun does the best dmg and heals you as much as possible so I stab a ton a junk queen. Kinda like the 2 shot, heal grenade on bap combo

Take a Breather, and reduce damage reduction from 50% to 25%.
In this game, I honestly think hog taking 25% more damage while he's healing would be enough to take hog from "Must pick" to a balanced pick.
Maybe increase the cooldown... but while he has one shot potential killing that would kind of completely nuke him into old Doomfist territory.

Got JQ ulted and breaks off from his team, healed anyways, hook+kills Lucio, JQ dumps full CDs on him doing nothing, his team comes back and kills JQ, then healed again. "outskilled" btw.

Fix for hog: vape only heals 200 hp but you are invincible while using it so maybe 2 seconds, hook gets a distance nerf along with damage nerf to gun so one shot DPS and Support go away. He need to be a tank still but rely more in team engagement.

if youre low ranked chances are your mmr is low, while his is high
so you may not match against him for now

IMO best fix for Hog, reskin all of his skins to "skinny Hog" - give him 225 HP same kit require 2 shot melee combo on hook. Make him DPS.

What's the best tank to use vs sigma and hog?
Against Sigma, I'd say anything that can get past him and deal with his backline (WInston, Doomfist, D'Va are good examples). And when it comes to Hog, ignoring him and go for his supports is by far the best counter, but if you really need someone that maybe has some counter measures to his kit, then D'Va, she can eat good portion of his ult as well as the left click he does when he combo someone (preventing his one shot) with her right click.
I feel like the idea of hog 1 shot killing someone is ok BUT only if they are less than 70%, they are out of position, and damn make that hook hit box smaller. Throw that shit at the moon and hit a helpless zen behind the corner 😂
