TaraGothGirl I wonder how they managed to get the rights to that. They played "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth, Wind & Fire in the credits of the Big Boogie Adventure too.
I know there's another similar Nickelodeon Christmas commercial. I don't think it was stop motion, but it had Patrick Star being a snowman and crossing over with Jimmy Neutron
+Mathmachine Static was and still is one of my favorite super heros. Touching on some pretty strong (and still relevant) subject matter (guns, drugs, addiction, death of a parent, etc.) Plus his powers are some of the most versatile and universially good without much drawbacks. fact of the day: Richie (Gear) is actually gay. One of the creators confirmed it.
+Mathmachine Quite honestly I think a few of the deeper and more intense episodes were only shown a few times due to the content. It happened quite a bit with shows back then. Whenever shit hit the fan or something got serious they usually only showed it once before the network said, "OK lets not get too serious here."
Did you see his last video he mimics the way animation on Cartoon Network was displayed in the way when I went on break and came back on break it was recited where they left off before commercials
So that's where I saw the animatrix before! The first time I saw the original one I knew I saw it before, but didn't know where. Well, at least I'm one of those 5 people...
Even though we are starting to get some more experimental cartoons like Steven Universe, I don't think we'll get anything quite as bold as Hey Arnold and the real world issues it dealt with. I could be wrong though.
+PaleoSteno I hope there's one episode from whatever cartoon show, which for once show the positives of the Hitler's regimes, or when nazis aren't portray as villians.
...wtf!? Since when is Static Shock on Disney XD? Static is a DC hero owned by the WB, this is just weird. Its weird like that time Jetix aired Superman, Batman, and Pinky and the Brain.
Holy cow I remember theorizing about the Christmas party and that ad years ago. Someone actually wrote about that online? It's hardly a blog post. Also Pan in disappointed that you didn't include the incestual flogers coffee commercial here.
+The Interface Eh that wasn't anything close to "incestuous". Just bad actors trying to ham it up and everyone with their infinitely dirty minds, took it the wrong way. The "eye fucking" was just bad acting.
I love the My Life as a Teenage Robot Christmas special. You know, the one where Jenny gets controlled by a little kid for a year and ruins every holiday. It was dark as hell too
The farther you go back the more Catholic I get, and when I understood the Ed Edd n Eddy special I still found that ending to be funny. People who can't laugh at their own beliefs and shit need to calm down, this goes for EVERYONE!
GamezForFunz I just felt sorry the Eds. That scene fuels the theory that the girls might be the devil incarnate and that Ed, Edd and eddy are all stuck in purgatory. But hey, that's just a theory.
Pan-Pizzarilli, to be honest I just wanted to say that the way you structure/edit your videos is absolutely fantastic. The content you air is just so reminiscent of late 90's. Early 2000's Cartoon Network and it's fantastic. I know this just seems like a generic "wow zomg u vids r gud" type comment, but I really wish to express how excellent watching your videos makes me feel. Both a mix of nostalgia and a resemblance to actual television, it's just fantastic.
+Kelsey Snugglebug (Grim) He could've said something like "You're touching my rib cage" Remember also that this is the same episode where they he buttfucked, so...
I would have included Christmas Who? from Spongebob. That is one of my all time Christmas specials. It was back when Patchy The Pirate was introduced, and was actually a likable character ( I feel like Spongebob's House Party killed him, and made him incredibly annoying and unlikable...) the humor was great, the song was catchy and memorable, and I still think the scene where Squidward dresses up as Santa to cheer Spongebob up, is still a funny and heart warming scene.
4:25 There was comic, done by the same artist who painted the amazing artwork for Kingdom Come, where Superman does try to solve the problem of world hunger by flying around with all the excess grain. However, he realized that while he ALLEVIATED the hunger for a single day, he wasn't able to stop the underlining problems that was causing world hunger to begin with.
2:01 actually is really odd. Pan’s right that Mike Bell played him in both Super Santa and SpongeBob, but The Powerpuff Girls example was actually a different Michael Bell, known for his 80’s and 90’s cartoon roles primarily
There's always a special place in my heart for my favorite cartoon specials during the holiday season and somehow, this video made me anticipate Christmas next year even more. T-361 Days. LETS GO!
yes pan, idk if you got it from me or not, but the hey Arnold special was amazing, even the whole show entirely, and I'm glad to here its all coming back.
Hey Pan, about the Nick as shorts there were a lot more than just the two you mentioned. There was the Rugrats multicultural special short that was a parody of the Charlie Brown Christmas, a fake commercial selling a CD of Plankton singing hilariously parodied Christmas songs, and Patrick the Snowman where Jimmy Neutron makes a magic hat to bring a snowman shaped like Patrick to life. That was truly a wonderful time to be a kid.
WB haven't released Static Shock on DVD or streaming likely because of rights issues. Yeah, despite the fact that Static did crossovers with DC characters, he's not actually owned by DC, instead being owned by Milestone Comics. I think Comics Drake did an in-depth video on the subject, but basically DC has to ask permission whenever they want to use Static in any of their material.
3:20 Omg i'm one the five people that got the refference! I DID see the Animatrix back then on Adult Swim, and as a kid with irresponsible parents and a tv in his room, it pretty much scarred me for life. But seeing the KND version somehow helped me get over seeing a robotic prostitute get beaten to death and people being brain-raped by tentacle robots.
+DrakeVagabond Yeah where they showed literal hate crimes against Muslims and actually went into the Islamic holiday of Ramadan? Imagine the shit storm that would happen if that premiered today.
One of my favorites that i watch with my sister every year is the Arthur one! Its such a real/relatable Christmas special that it having sutly acknowledges that santa isn't real!

Dose anyone else remember the terrifying commercial that CN would show during December about Christmas trees catching fire? It scared me so much as a young child that I would never let my mom get a real tree for Christmas because I thought it would burn our house down.
+stevenwall2010 I am 3 quarters mexican so I used to celebrate christmas at my grandmas on the 24th then my house the next day then my other grandmas afterwards
Hey arnold christmas really is the best of the "christmas episodes", may not be the best christmas special in general, but in terms of christmas episdoes in a show focused primarily on kids it's REALLY well done, it takes it self VERY seriosly but not too serious that it takes away from the fact that it's still an episode of hey arnold.
Damn, thanks for reminding me how creative Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network used to be, incorporating their characters in those bumper segments. I mean, would anyone at current-day CN pay to have all their major icons animated doing Charlie Brown Christmas dances?
Before the days of RUclips, I would desperately try to record the stop-motion Nick special on video tape. I always failed to catch the beginning, haunting me every year.
I remember seeing all of these as a kid and enjoying the heck out of them (except for 5 and 2, though I should watch them sometime... vaguely remember one, should re-watch that again too)
3:00 When I was a kid watching this show, I was against that ship because I liked 3, but thought that 4 was a douchebag. Come to think of that, I've realized that 3 was probably my first waifu...
Dude OMG I never noticed the connection between that Spongebob ep and the 12 Days of Nicktoon. WTF!! Also, glad you love Hey Arnold as much as I do (made a whole video about it haha). I await your TV movie review whenever they release it.
I always liked the SpongeBob and Powerpuff Girls Christmas specials. And of course I can't forget the old Rankin Bass stop motion specials and A Charlie Brown Christmas. I've actually never watched Hey Arnold, but your good words on it in this video have made me finally want to check it out.
Hehe, I don't remember how but I ended up with an animatrix DVD and saw that before seeing that Kids Next Door reenactment and that kinda blew my mind as a kid.
I remeber Nickelodeon had a Grinch parody featuring Angelica and all nick cartoons, from SpongeBob to Invader Zim, even Chalk Zone, a cartoon I've seen anyone who remembers it.
Oh man, i remember when CN and Nick used to go all-out around the holidays. Holiday bumpers and commercials (CN's City stuff especially) and all the attention to detail with making everything so Christmas-y. And the specials were like these major events that you could only see this one time of year unless you recorded them. And it was always exciting seeing the same mundane stuff throughout the year suddenly become festive and new. It just felt special. Really kinda sucks that they pay so little attention to doing this kind of thing nowadays, but maybe it's better if we just have the memories instead of trying to keep this stuff going into an age with more story-driven shows and less-strict production cycles.
Oof, but it's just not Christmas for me until I see the Charlie Brown Christmas Special. Not much in the way of a plot, but you can't beat it for music and atmosphere.
From what I remember they are not only having a T.V. movie for Hey Arnold!, they also are apparently trying to reboot them and Rugrats, and a few other 90's classics. Let's hope they don't get as much complaints as Teen Titans Go! does.
There is no doubt that Jingle Jingle Jangle is the definitive best Christmas special of them all, even if it resulted in me and the Eds in getting violated by the Kanker Sisters.
I really did like Static Shock cause it always touched the subjects that so many people were afraid to touch like homelessness, gun risk, abuse, and drug addiction and presented it in a way that showed the severity of the problem without being an overly preechy asshole about it
remember when the grim reaper saved santa from his vampire wife?
Good times...
+SmashLiXs
We're off!
Yes we're off!
We're off to save Christmas!
I remember that was the shit.
+SmashLiXs And remember how they played "Round and Round" by Ratt during the end credits for no apparent reason?
TaraGothGirl I wonder how they managed to get the rights to that. They played "Boogie Wonderland" by Earth, Wind & Fire in the credits of the Big Boogie Adventure too.
It's nice to to see that underneath all that pizza and Raven porn, you're a half way decent person.
+Josh Miller *you're
Thank you
You're welcome.
+Josh Miller Pizza porn?
...W-Where...
***** Will do!
I loved the CN City theme that Cartoon Network had for a while. It was so much fun!
Me too
+Black Geek Gaming I wish they did that
+Deanna Mittleman me three
+Deanna Mittleman Me four, I fucking loved that theme.
+Deanna Mittleman Imagine if it was a show
Pan-Pizza you should do a top ten Hey Arnold episodes . I would love to watch that.
I'd be down for that too
no thanks pan I wouldn't be interested
I'd be down for a "Hey Arnold Live Action" with Arnold Schwarzenegger, and a CGI Football-shaped head.
+Ignatius Idio pan don't let people like this control your channel
+AlphaOmegaSon believe it or not there was a CGI Hey Arnold back in 1997 I think cuz they were promoting noggle Goggles ( Nickelodeon's 3d glasses
Holy shit, Tom Kenny was impersonating Stan Lee in that KND special?
+Elijah blechman I want that
TheBlu Carpenter print it
+PokeDude011 OH MY GOD.
Elijah Blechman I remember seeing that in a Nickelodeon Magazine that was Spongebob themed.
@@elijahblechman8633
That is amazing.
If nobody knew. The KND Christmas special's "Elfa Strike" was a play on the X-men Canadian team "Alpha Strike". Mabey obvious, but "the more you know"
More like "Dontcha know," amiright? Eh?
"Arnold & his friend Marge Simpson"
Jokin' 'bout Gerald
@@ilikecurry2345 No shit...
LOL Pan.
You knucklehead. That's obviously that one guy from "Kid n Play"
"Ed Edd and Eddy, jingle jingle Django unchained" that made me choke on my spaghetti. I would actually buy a shirt with that on it.
+Fritz monorail
Samuel L. Jackson: "I CAN'T HEAR YOU NIGGA!"
Ed: "Butter toast."
Oh my...
+Fritz monorail Someone needs to write that and put it on Fanfiction.NET
+Fritz monorail Was it your mom's?
+kfcnyancat Do you mean was it my mom's spaghetti ?
I know there's another similar Nickelodeon Christmas commercial. I don't think it was stop motion, but it had Patrick Star being a snowman and crossing over with Jimmy Neutron
Wow, I don't think I've seen anyone mention the Static Shock one. It was actually pretty good and moving, but noone ever seems to remember it.
+Mathmachine Static Shock was an unappreciated show in my opinion.
+Jack Sledge IV static shock had real potential, much more than johnny test
+Mathmachine Static was and still is one of my favorite super heros. Touching on some pretty strong (and still relevant) subject matter (guns, drugs, addiction, death of a parent, etc.) Plus his powers are some of the most versatile and universially good without much drawbacks.

+Sir Saki Wait Richie is gay? Now I gotta rewatch the series an see if I pick up any clues.
Did you seriously put an ad just after the annoncer said, "we'll be right back!"?
That's some meta shit.
Did you see his last video he mimics the way animation on Cartoon Network was displayed in the way when I went on break and came back on break it was recited where they left off before commercials
it's so clever, I can't believe more people don't do it.
He does that in most of his videos.
+Gaige the Mechromancer well more recently then anything also a show that replicated that was Clarence
So that's where I saw the animatrix before! The first time I saw the original one I knew I saw it before, but didn't know where. Well, at least I'm one of those 5 people...

+DanAxleerRUclips Well, until Jan 2, it's still the holiday season.
Even though we are starting to get some more experimental cartoons like Steven Universe, I don't think we'll get anything quite as bold as Hey Arnold and the real world issues it dealt with. I could be wrong though.
Nah, I think we definitely could. There's a lot of shows running that could pull this off.
btw hi paleo

Ah, yes, back when sexual tension between a teenager and an adult was okay, but putting the word "death" in a villain's name was a major no-no.

Watching the intro to this video made me realise how much i miss the 90s and early 2000 era cartoon network.
Oh gosh, I remember watching that Static Shock episode as a kid. One of the very few times I cried watching a show.
Elf Bowling the movie is a hidden gem and so are Arthur Christmas and Robbie the Reindeer.
Jingle Jingle Jangle is my favorite Cartoon Network Christmas Special.
It's funny, I was a huge comic nerd when I was a kid, but somehow that KND X-Men Christmas reference went right over my head
Oh... so the guy constantly obsessing over goth girls in a more than cringy manner is disgusted with the concept of "shipping". How... quaint.
Pan is a gem
Well, it really isn't shipping, so he's not being condescending or anything.
He's an inspiration to me.
Having a crush on a fictional character is not the same thing as shipping.
I'm not into either, you idiot.
Explanation on why this video is so "late": have you SEEN that tweet by zone tan, the only thing that could heal that is some Christmas and whiskey
wow ok im not one for nostalgia shit but when you use all those old nick and cartoon network commercials in your videos it hits so hard
In Canada on YTV they air Hey Arnold and Rugrats on Christmas Eve

I still love the Billy and Mandy special. "No, you need the head-head vampire!"
Pan, you didn't want to reference the fact those nickelodeon x-mas commercials are an homage to Rankin/Bass stop motion specials.
