The old bullworkers were not meant for reps, isometric holds only.Having said that a few exercises were shown for reps, but the main muscle growth came from isometric holds.

    Great video as always.
I'm 70 now still in good shape ex powerlifter come weight trainer. My OWN personal preference is Isometric holds. Thats what the Bullworker was designed for and what it does best. Reps to me done with the Bullworker are a waste of time. There's little or no resistance at the start and only full resistance at the end of the movement. So little stimulus for 3/4s of the exercise. I do a X5 workout everyday consisting of 15 of my best exercises, namely ones that don't aggravate any joints at my age. Then follow that with the Isokinator. Day one, I do chest and shoulders. Day two back and arms. All for 3 sets of 10. I do the Isokinator crunches everyday. The difference with the Isokinator over the Bullworker and weights is the resistance is constant over the full range of motion...from start to finish ... no let up.
Look forward to your next video.

For the grip try a few wraps of gaffers tape or golf tape or bike grip tape.

Thanks a lot for your review. You are allways very informativ and with a good humor. I am swedish and had my X5 many years now. My length is 186 cm. so I would like to have another version of a longer Bullworker Pro, and as you said the handles needs a bit more friction. Please keep on your good work!
    All The best!

Workout gloves or gloves with rubber palms will give you a better grip on the tubes.

The new x-5 Pro does have a few advantages. I recon whichever bullworker model you go with it's got to be right for you, it's a very personal choice. In my opinion and being a little above 6ft I find the original bullworker X5 the best, I also enjoy using the bullworker 2.

The old Bullworker X5 has only one spring in it. I took one apart a few years ago.

Started using mine again, that I bought during lockdown, with the springs (Classic Bow) today. I normally use weights but as off for half-term and I'm off on holiday in July for a week, I looked at something I can take with me and a few months off the weights.

Could the reason for the lack of ‘flanges’ on the new X5 be the fact that it would inhibit the spring change? Just a theory. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, I'm new to Bullworkers, and I can't figure out why this smaller pro version (28") would be better than the new production classic (36") model?
It seems like you would have a vastly larger range of motion with the classic. I don't care about one model being easier to travel with. I care only about maximum range of motion and maximum tension. With that in mind, wouldn't the classic be the best choice?
I don't understand the benefit of the straps for this pro model either. It seems like that's just a compromise to get around it being a more compact model. Additionally, wouldn't it make sense that the spring on the classic model is longer? So if we compare the red spring in both the pro and classic models, wouldn't we see more gains from the classic because we've got way more range of motion under the same level of tension with the longer spring? We also shouldn't be dealing with the Bullworker twisting as weirdly, right?
Please let me know what you think. I watch a lot of your videos and would really appreciate your thoughts.

Question, would you recommend the x5 pro and the higher price for someone new to the Bullworker or the basic 28?
I'm 58 and am not a big guy but used to work out heavily for decades. Sadly aging and many injuries I am am limited on what I can do these days. Any kind of arm curls pretty much are out. Thanks for any input.

If you just starting out, I always recommend getting a used bullworker x5, the older type from the 80's. You can pick these up for quite cheap. Then, if you enjoy using it, you can always upgrade to the X5 pro or even the cheaper steel bow.

Only issue, I know I want the 28. The others are too long, I can't over stretch.
