You are right about the behind the neck press , it never felt right , i always avoided it, i instinctively knew it wanen't correct, and now you have clarified it, and for lower body I think squats are a perfect exercise, thank you

      @towag 10 месяцев назад +1

I also find the wall squat with the legs at a 90* angle.... Also do it one legged ... Or very slow full squats x 100, with time under tension effective for the legs overhaul... A wall push isometric hold for the calves extended for 20 - 30 seconds, stretches and strengthens at the same time😉

@@towag- Some time ago I was using the Bullworker, standing on the cables for a type of deadlift. I instantly heard a pop in my lower back. I was literally in absolute pain for several weeks. I'm more careful now, but that moment remains in my head and I go as slowly and gently as possible.

I still refer to the original BWII manual, the original publication by Gert Kolbel, for all the exercises. I have owned the X5 too, and tried the ones described in X5 manual. I now have the classic steel bow. I can safely tell you from my experience, the original exercises in the BWII manual are still the best and safest.

Excellent video. Especially useful was increasing the resistance by moving the hands further apart. I picked up 2 bullworkers (an original and x5) from a charity shop and car boot sale. Paid a total of £10 for both. I've taken to using both bullworkers simultaneously by wrapping resistance bands around the two and using them like chest expanders for a greater range of movement. I think one of the secrets is learning to be creative in your exercises...clearly as you are!

Absolutely love your videos. Thank you so much. The leg press tip is brilliant. I also lay down on my back and push the handle with my heel on one handle against a baseboard or brick/concrete wall. You can also do a lying leg curl by hooking the handle with your heel and curling back towards you while holding the other handle immobile with the other hand.

I used to do the behind-the-neck compression with an 80s Bullworker, I sometimes remember getting a crick in the neck!
I couldn’t do that with the new Bow Basic even if I tried.

a very effective leg (hamstring) exercise with an X5 is to sit on a chair, back of the chair against the wall; put the bullworker on the floor under the chair in the middle , with one handle touching the wall , and the other handle facing out in front the chair and between your feet. with both heels press the handle inward while holding the chair with both hands. you can also do it alternately with each heel.

Really good tips. The thing is everybody's shape is different and you have to use the Bullworker as a tool to understand your own body and where it is most safe to achieve the maximum isometric tension. Personally I skip some exercises altogether or make up my own being mindful of any joint pain issues or anything that feels unnatural. It is a creative way to use it and it changes up the workout. Great video and I will be trying these. Thank you.

I tried the single leg press with the Bullworker held horizontally with the hand grips and I’m afraid it didn’t work with the new Bow Basic. The cable slipped out of the handle leaving it slightly loose, so I had to do the same procedure on the other cable to right it.

I have the Bow Classic along with an earlier model. Some exercises I simply refuse to do because of how they can really mess up my lower back. It seems as if for even anyone else, before using a Bullworker they should invest in a very sturdy weightlifting belt.

The chest press with the bullworker seems to be the usual culprit for causing that if you are holding the handles.
Try holding the tubes instead of the handles as in this video. You can still do this with the other bullworker models but you may need to wear work or gym gloves if your hands slide on the tubes.

  • @stevev2422

Yeah, a lot of lame exercises that are useless and can hurt you. The iso 7x chart sucks. Instructions don't match the pics in all of them. The best way I found is to use the charts as a guide and make your own exercises to feel it best. That 1st exercise I have interpreted from the pic NOT to be 90 degree angle. It looked to me like you want to get the device close to your upper chest as possible and I agree with the rest.
    Great vid! .

Thanks for making this video. I have a slightly different Bullworker (Classic Bow), which does not have as much elasticity as yours. Also, it comes with springs, so the triceps and leg exercises get plenty of resistance. Here are some exercises I find to be suspect: Reverse-grip chest compressions (mid, lower and upper)--it's not clear what other muscles are being worked using this awkward grip than with the regular or inside-grip chest compressions, but one thing is for sure--you can injure your elbow tendons if you're not careful! Also, the device I have will come loose if you grab the pipes! This is a design flaw with the adjustable-spring bullworker (you cannot do pipe-grab only exercises). Another terrible exercise is right--the behind-the-head compression. This is unnatural and hard to understand what muscles it really works. I agree it can possibly lead to injury. Another bad exercise is hip abductions. I read that hip abductions (spreading your legs) only works the gluteus medius, and is not natural. However, hip ADDuctions (squeezing legs together) is a good exercise. The One-leg press and the Triceps cable push-downs are effective with the proper resistance. I use a red spring on the leg press (hardest) and a yellow or gray spring on the Triceps cable push-downs. Finally, the Upright Row (One foot on the cable on the bench) is very awkward and possibly dangerous. It's better to do the Kneeling Upright Row, because you can pull straight up. The foot-on-cable Upright Row will force you to bend your back and you are effectively doing a very awkward deadlift. Your inner-pecs chest press against the wall is NICE--I'm going to incorporate that one. Also, the Inside-Grip Chest Compression held away from the body--I'm incorporating that one also (using my BW 2, which is non-adjustable). Thank you!

As a teen I found you had to experiment with possible positions and movements on the BW in order to target different muscles groups. You can't go solely by the BW instructions. Trust what your body is feeding back to you about possible exercises that will pump various muscle groups. If you can get hold of a cheap BW it is an excellent way to exercise is you are a lad/lass (or someone on a reduced income) with limited space and resources. (I still have a metallic BW with green plastic handles purchased in a charity shop in 1999, it was ancient then!) 😆💪🏽

While I appreciate what you're saying, it's not advisable to perform an exercise if it has the potential to cause injury. Free climbing naked, covered in butter is exercise but I wouldn't recommend it.

I would be very careful of placing stress on your shoulder joints in an overhead position. The reason being the tendons in your arms might end up being pinched underneath the collarbones. My suggestion is do not raise your arms above the horizontal.... even keep them a little bit below horizontal to keep the pressure of the tendon. I can tell you from experience... shoulder surgery is a painful operation and recovery.... post operation it is near agony and upright sleeping in a chair for a week full of Oxycontin.

    • @edelgyn2699

I think it depends on each person as to how they react to the various exercises that can be performed on a BW. As a lad, I used to follow the suggested exercises, but I soon varied them with new positions to which my body was responding. A bit of intelligence is required, and for an alert youngster the BW provides a cheap way to grow into a strong adult. I suspect teens/young adults who want to build muscles will also save for a basic set of weights. Alas many of our youth want instant results and the muscles they build in modern gyms don't seem able to equip them for strenuous manual labour or outdoor work. A lot of 6'+ muscular youths can't compete with 5'7" ripped granddads in foundries! 😉

What are your thoughts of these exercises? ruclips.net/video/z-RFAodJihw/видео.html The one I couldn’t do with the X5 is the chest one, so I’d just do the other chest ones either at the edges or by the handle.

    • @LivingWellTV

The chest exercise he shows is not optimum for chest. He's using Iso-Motion. You'd be better doing what you're doing, holding the handles at the end. I've got some examples here ruclips.net/video/KMXNlz-kPwo/видео.html
