Thank you Susan for always sharing economical art supplies that are good quality. I was always discouraged in school because they would always say Art was an expensive career and it’s not for everyone.
I watch your tutorials all the time. I appreciate that you are open about your faith and love of God. Art makes so much more sense when you believe in the Creator!!!
Wonderful, Susan. Thank you. The flower is water hemlock (quite poisonous) and is prolific in our southern coastal regions. It is a cousin of Queen Anne's lace.
Thank you, Susan, for sharing your gift with us. Beautiful painting and great instructions. I am new to pastels, oil has been my favorite since childhood. Really enjoying diving into this new medium. Paul Rubens' pastels look delightful!
Thanks, as always, for the generosity of your time and talent, Susan. Working with pastels has brought me so much joy. Winning a Paul Rubins set of pastels would bring me even more joy!!! 😆
Loving this demonstration! I have both of these sets coming today. I have just started using pastel pencils and fell in love with the medium…The way the colors are so vibrant and blend so incredibly well. I thought watercolor might always but my number one but I’m seeing a future with pastels for sure. I appreciate your recommendation of these sets. I saw another video you did with them and ordered right away since they are so affordable. Although I did go ahead and order the Paris Sennelier set today from Blick. 😜 I can’t help myself when I fall in love with a specific art medium. Just wanted to say I love your videos and hope to learn a lot from you! ❤
YAY!! Thank you! @beckyneemann7273 Comments like this are part of why I do this. I love inspiring others, especially in their art journey! Thank you for your sweet comment! Here is a list in my Amazon Shop of some pastel painting products I recommend for beginner pastel artists. Happy Painting! www.amazon.com/shop/monetcafewithartistsusanjenkins/list/2NY2AMTL7D050?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ons_list_d
New to pastels and I love you for sharing your talent. Been doing collage art since 2020 Pandemic era. would love to win this set and continue my journey in art. I'm 80 yrs. young and artsy, and creative. Paul Rubins pastels look great that you're applying. Thank u!!
Yay! That’s right I remember that it was you now. There is fortunately a way to work around any one particular color! I’m going to purposely try to not use that eggplant color now, ha ha ha.
I'm gonna hold you to that haha. I think if I had the eggplant colour it would be hard not to use it. But I'm greatful that you dedicated a tutorial to my question. Thank you again. Big hug
Love these videos. You’re such an inspiration and motivating me to get back into my art work again. It’s been about seven years since I picked up my pastels. I still have unfinished artwork in my studio. I think the time is now and I am excited about learning new techniques from you. Also I like your recommendations of the types of pastels you use, that is very helpful. Thank you! Roe
Yay Paul Rubins! Beautiful summer painting Susan! Trying to do as many summery paintings now… before Fall is upon us. Looking forward to your “ neutral month”! 👩🏻🎨🌿🙏🏻
I have NEVER used pastels! Obviously would love to enter the giveaway! Thank you for doing this (whether i win or not!), and GOD bless your sweet soul for sharing your wealth of knowledge, and supplies! Just subbed (yay)!
I appreciate the opportunity to win a set of Paul Reubens pastels…trying to soak everything Susan has to offer and I can see that these are really amazing…and truly soft and pigmented. I hope it’ll be my lucky day!
Excited when the notification came up for this review! I have these in my Amazon cart to buy but was on the fence of something new or what I know because I'm still a beginner and slowly expanding my color pallette while in budget. Thank you!
I have the 40 set but definitely need the 36 set. It looks very complete. Also the airbrush medium intrigues me--wonder if it works to liquify pan pastels. TY. Yvonne B.
I’m not sure about the airbrush medium and pan pastels, but it would be fun to experiment. I think the 40 and the 36 set of Paul Rubens pastels work very well together.
Susan...do you agree that in soft pastels..a set with darker tones likes browns ,Grey's, darker blues are better than too many light hues? I found that medium range like 36-40 pastels are better than 60 or 24 as i find darker tones in middle range which is more useful. what's your opinion?
Hullo Susan, I do enjoy watching your videos and seeing you create some amazing pictures! I am not sure if I truly need the set of sticks but I entered anyway. I like how you layer colors to develop your colors and shades as well as tints. I am very curious about how you preserve a painting that started as practice but through some grace it becomes a very beautiful painting! I have watched a few videos on sticking the pastel surfaces before starting, but how do you get the painting onto a board after you finish? I have used glassine for surface protection, so how and what do you stick the painting to? This picture you use tape to use the board for a firm surface how then do you mat and frame it? I would like to see a newer video of this process, if you have time or inclination? I am willing to believe that you have a longer to do list, I hope this idea interests you.
Thank you sweetheart, and I’m sorry that it is affiliated with Instagram. That was one of the stipulations with the Paul Rubens company. I’m having a separate giveaway for my patrons on my Patreon page. And that contest is not US only but worldwide.
I love your paintings and started following you on fb. And I would love to enter for that fabulous giveaway, however I quit using most social media after Twitter nuked my account. So no Instagram. Thank you, Susan! Blessings to you in Christ Jesus! 🙏❤️ Looks like Queen Anne's Lace to me, too. 😉
I’m so sorry Robyn. This had to do with Paul Rubin‘s shipping. The set is being shipped directly from them. I’m running another giveaway in my Patreon group for my patrons alone. I will ship the pastels wherever the winner resides. 🙌🏻😊💜💜💜
No, I went through all of the numbers and checked. Some of the colors look similar but there are subtle differences. I find the two sets work very well together. I have some tutorials coming soon that will be using them both.
Thanks, but it’s working for me when I click the link from my own video. I’m wondering if it’s your browser or something. Maybe try from a computer and a phone. One of them might work.
Thank you Susan for always sharing economical art supplies that are good quality. I was always discouraged in school because they would always say Art was an expensive career and it’s not for everyone.
Such a lovely painting. Turning the phone upside down is a great tip. I'll have to try that.
Thank you for sharing your skill and passion.

Hallelujah 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻😊💜

Yikes! I’m so glad you let me know that sweetheart. I’ll be sure not to eat any if I run across them again, lol!
I would love very much to win . I'm a beginner, but I've fallen in love with this medium.
Thank you, Susan, for sharing your gift with us. Beautiful painting and great instructions. I am new to pastels, oil has been my favorite since childhood. Really enjoying diving into this new medium. Paul Rubens' pastels look delightful!
I would love to win. Was just lamenting that my “collection” of pastels is lacking. Thanks for all the great content.
Thanks, as always, for the generosity of your time and talent, Susan. Working with pastels has brought me so much joy. Winning a Paul Rubins set of pastels would bring me even more joy!!! 😆
Great idea flipping the painting upside down!!! 👍
Thanks Rosemary… I love using this technique.

Aw missed out again by living in Ireland
Darn Joanie. I’m so sorry they don’t ship out of the US. That Hass to be so frustrating for you.

Very disappointed that the Susan Jenkins competition is only open to US residents.
It’s so expensive to get any descent pastels in Australia!
