Led Zeppelin formed in 1968 and went on to become one of the most influential, innovative, and successful groups in modern music, having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide. The band rose from the ashes of The Yardbirds, when Jimmy Page brought in John Bonham, John Paul Jones, and Robert Plant to tour as The New Yardbirds. In 1969, Led Zeppelin released its self-titled debut which was produced by Page, as were all the subsequent albums. It marked the beginning of a 12-year reign, during which the group was widely considered to be the biggest and most innovative rock band in the world. - Видеоклипы

Truly- They have a song for everything.
This has to be top 5 greatest live performances of all time. Robert’s voice is angelic, Jimmy’s guitar is hypnotic, JP’s bass is commanding, and Bonham’s drums are just other-worldly
I said the same thing in my post yesterday. In 1973 when Houses of the Holy came out, they were at their absolute peak. And as anyone can see (and hear) here, they were just mind blowing.
Robert's voice was so strong and clear, Jimmy's playing was quick and confident, Jonesy's bass was incredible and Bonzo's drumming was so intense. By the late '70s they all seemed worn down by the family problems and self destructive lifestyles. Jimmy looks so healthy here; by 1979 the damage was done.
You know people are going to disagree and say , " But this isn't live it's recorded on a soundstage and cut up using the different nights at MSG , they do everytime ☝

Of course ! You are stating the obvious but get this; There wasn't an Internet just a handful of newspapers and I can't remember if I saw Led Zep on the TV so that said they rose to such great heights purely by WORD OF MOUTH, they arrived in the US and people had already heard of this amazing rock band.

Hard to believe this is over 50 years ago, still so powerful to this day
As a fan who fell in love with them around 72 or so, and who thinks the world of them all.....can we finally acknowledge one of the most underrated and sometimes under-appreciated rock musicians, ever? This is taking _nothing_ away from any of the "big 3", but as a lifelong music lover, musician, audio engineer and audio teacher, I *still* find myself discovering new aspects of and appreciation for what JPJ brought to the band. I honestly don't think they would have been the same without him. I'm sure there are other equally under-appreciated players in some famous bands, but TBH I have trouble thinking of any, at least not to the degree that Jones seems to be overlooked.
No, they're not underappreciated. Why do people always say that about the most popular bands ever.
Are the Beatles underappreciated? The grateful dead? Cream?? Stevie Ray Von? No! And it's a stupid comment, no offense.
Every member of LZ is a GOD to musicians. They made more money than anyone, despite critics hating them.
John Paul Jones is not overlooked. Maybe it's because you don't play any instruments but Jones was a famous producer for decades after Zeppelin and he still is.
By all means, love the band but as the British say - oh, shut up!
@@SuiGenerisMan well Mr. Unique, I'll try to be gentler with you than you were with me. Why did you mention those bands? I never said LZ was under appreciated, I said it was JPJ who was under appreciated(and I stand by that). Since you questioned it, I've been a musician since 1972, played in many bands, made my living that way for a while and have now been in the audio industry for over 40 years including making a living as a recording engineer, now teaching audio engineering and sound design at a small university. I've asked many knowledgable folks "who comes to mind when you think of some of the great rock bassists" and very, _very_ few of them come up with JPJ in the first 5 or 6 names, even though they almost all say "oh yes, of course" when I mention him. Obviously, we are each of us the expert on our own opinion and that is fine. What I hope for you is that you can maybe start to respond to people such that even if your opinion is different, you might not need to make it come across as so aggressive or as an attack, I honestly just can't see a reason for that. And now, as you suggested, I'll "shut up".
I hear ya! My older brother brought home LZII when it came out... I've been a Zepp Head ever since. JPJ inspired me to learn the bass. It's a part of my soul.
I never get tired of this. GREATEST OF ALL TIME.❤

You have excellent taste in music, maybe not in friends.
Like you I came to Zeppelin very late. But I did get to see them at Knebworth in 1979. They were good but not at their best. It amazes me that so many young people are discovering Zeppelin and Dylan. Ignore what your friends say. Explore the music that inspires and moves you regardless of who it is. Enjoy.@@netosan-sen8388
you mean modern crap?
Your daddy raised you right
While I agree that (popular) modern music is at an all-time low, please embrace the fact that you are young at this moment. If you had been 22 in the 60s, you would be old and possibly feeble by now. While you may not be able to go back in time and experience Zeppelin live, you have (as you said) the wonderful opportunity to listen to and see works of music and art (including film, etc.) from practically all of history. Those young folks in the 60s had no such ability. If not currently local in a theatre nor on the radio nor the 3 television stations available, it was unattainable and hence largely unknown or forgotten. Many works existing only in memory - especially movies you might have seen once in the theater and then never again.
The Song Remains the Same is the best classic rock concert I've ever seen ❤
Song remains the same is not really a concert but more of a concert simulation . Its pieced together like a jigsaw puzzle. There are pieces of three different shows in that film and the film and audio are often not even from the same night and many of the songs are Frankensteined versions with lots of edits and patches from the other nights . Some songs have pieces from all three nights .
The raw unedited tapes from all three nights reveal a very inconsistent loose and at times tired sounding Zeppelin which is why they needed to do so much editing patching and mixing.. Alot of work went into fixing Robert's vocals .
The 1970 Royal Albert Hall film blows the Song Remains the Same way. Robert's upper range was in its peak period and the band was at their tightest and most ferocious
They played Many shows that were better than the Song Remmains the same shows
My God, what a band. In 1973 when HOTH came out they were at their absolute peak in every way.
No family tragedies yet, Robert's voice was strong and clear, and Jimmy looked so healthy, not yet worn down by the drugs as he would be by the late '70s.
Couldn't agree more. It's my favorite Zeppelin album.
Not enough superlatives to describe the Greatest Of All Time! No other Rock Band is even in the same galaxy as Led Zeppelin, let alone on earth! I've been here for 51 years and nothing comes close to the perfection they exhibited in that time. In fact, I really don't think anyone will ever come within a moon shot of their astonishing level of magnificence. Need I say more? If so, all I can say is to go listen and learn!
Awesome, I'm 70 and this band still raises the goose pimples, they looked really cool and they matched their appearance with some really solid music. Of course there were many bands since them but they wouldn't be doing it if Led Zep hadn't showed them how it's done.
All their performances after 1971 really show how important good acoustics and sobriety is to a musical performance
What a fantastic performance! Jimmy Page was blistering on guitar and John Bonham was razor sharp! I’m struck by how much energy they had and the way they all moved with the music and they were all laughing- it’s thrilling to watch and listen to. Can you imagine how they all must have felt up there on stage, knowing that they sound great and everything is working - the crowd are all ecstatic and deliriously happy! I’m not finding the words to describe how brilliant it is to listen to such people who are Masters of their instruments and voice: I’m failing miserably. How’d they used to say it? They Rocked!
I never understood why this didn't make the movie. That Bonham count in is one of the best parts of the concert.
Nobody like Bonham !!!!
possibly due to length of the movie/film
