Seeing him still play with the same enthusiasm he had back in the 70's put the biggest smile on my face. Holy shit I love him. He looks like the Einstein of Guitars, riffs, and rock.

Taylor Wisdom seeing him not play with the lack of enthusiasm he displayed all through the 80’s, 90’s is good too. Edge is a humble dude, and He is no slouch. He just isn’t a extroverted self promoter. Jack White on the other hand is not humble, but he was humbled. He plays in SAD-BAD tuning, I believe.

I think David Guggenheim just kinda lost interest in the idea. About 18 months after this was done, Slash told an interviewer that someone from Guggenheim's staff had approached him about being in a sequel. Several months later, another interviewer brought the subject up, and Slash said he hadn't heard anything else about it. Too bad, really - like you said, this could've been a whole series of films for some streaming service.

Years ago when I lived in AK, a friend of my stepdad had a son who just got out of jail and mom let him stay at their house. We were always over there and we hung out quite a bit ( he once jumped the fence at a salvage yard to try to get my car back from the wrecker, but that's a whole story by itself :). Anyway, one day he picked up my acoustic and started to play - I think it was Cowboy's from Hell or Flood - but differently from the way I learned it from the official tablature. We had a similar conversation and he wasn't really forthright about it but I finally pieced together who's cousin he was after he said "Darryl taught me." Later on, I remembered his Dad's last name was Anselmo and was from Louisiana.

@@rsalsman0810 it is a rare point of view some people are capable of. For musicians it is the ability to listen to a song and pick it apart instrument by instrument and block out the rest by focusing on just one. Then they can either copy on a piece of paper note for note, or play it immediately after hearing it just once. Made complicated when songs are layered, this just gets them excited as they then focus on multiples of the same instrument in their head.
It is a trick and skill you will see in conductors and score writers especially.
They will hear a hickup and off note and stop everyone so that they can read through the pages until they pinpoint at what exact note went wrong then know in an entire orchestra of players which one screwed up with straight up 99% accuracy.

I live in Siberia. I heard "Kashmir" in 1975. I was 10 years old. I've listened to a lot of good music since then. I have a classical education as a conductor. But Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" is no less than Bach and Tchaikovsky. Jimmy Page is a great musician, just like the rest of the Led Zeppelin musicians.

It's a generous sentiment, but I think even Page would laugh at the idea of Kashmir being on the same level as the Brandenburg Concertos. It's like saying JD Salinger is on the same level as Tolstoy.
That's not a disparagement of Salinger: The Catcher in the Rye is a masterpiece, it'll stay relevant until the earth is consumed by the sun. The same can be said of Kashmir.
But in terms of scope, range, complexity, diversity, psychological acuity, etc., etc., War & Peace blows Catcher out of the water, & Bach does the same to Page. That's why this kind of well-meant but patently erroneous attempt to compare one kind of classic with another actually does a disservice to art.

@@J29-u8u Yes. Everyone has different tastes. And to explain in words the greatness of music is an impossible task ))) Frank Zappa was right. Writing about music is like dancing about architecture. I think that's what he said. For me, Kashmir Led Zeppelin is like Bach's "Well-tempered Clavier". Everything is there. Or maybe it's because I was tortured with Bach as a child. I am a conductor by first education :) But I agree with you - these are incomparable values. But the time is different. People are getting smaller. In our time, Bach will no longer be able to appear. For us, Led Zeppelin is Bach. I see it that way. But I don't think I'm always right. I could be wrong. I'm just a human being )))

Saying the fact that Page looks like Mozart and wrote KASHMIR isn't a coincidence is like saying the fact that Ted Cruz looks like Eddie Munster and likes Lord of the Rings is no coincidence. For the record that dude's name isn't Paul McCartney. Paul McCartney died in a m.v.a. in 66 when Rita (the meter maid) freaked out after realising that the kind chap who offered her a lift in the pouring rain was in fact McCartney. Rita threw herself at the sensation after he'd pulled away causing a fatal accident. Paul McCartney was virtually decapitated instantly in the wreck. The bands MI5 handler took the band to identify the deceased. When Lennon saw the body the MI5 handler commented that he looked like a walrus as McCartney's head was so deformed his teeth were poking through his upper lip. It's a 100% true story, SO true that Harrison in later years named him FAUL (Fake + Paul = FAUL) if you've not watched The Winged Beatle do so and believe it or don't either way it's a good Documentary.
Now watch this! Elvis is 100% alive and well. Traded the fame fortune and notoriety to become a no body. In actual fact he is now a priest. Watch this link twice, 1st watch and listen, 2nd time watch and listen to the crowd's reaction. Lastly read some of the comments, real Elvis fans who know the truth. The impersonator is his son, I know I know irony isnt lost believe me. Here ya go, enjoy

ALL musicians copied. Blues musicians anyhow. Cream. The Stones. Deep Purple. Old Fleetwood Mac. Zeppelin were sued by Willie Dixon over Whole Lott Love. Which resembled one of his songs. They settled and in later interviews and credits they gave proper acknowledgement to the artists. They used. Maybe like a Robert Johnson for the song Travelling Riverside Blues. Or Memphis Minnie for When the Levee Breaks. Led Zeppelin took the blues and put them on steroids. They wrote 95 percent of their own stuff, and in the course of history became the greatest rock band of all time. Any other questions?

Jimmy Page, in the biggest understatement in human history: "It's cool."

Man, the swagger on Jimmy when he plays guitar! He is the prototype for all great guitarists!

Jimmy Page is actually a proper musician, it's not only rock and roll, it's years of study and sacrifice and a smattering of talent.

I'd say it's more than a 'smattering' of talent. If you listen to his freestyle playing in live shows that's more than a 'smattering' and more than study. It's soul, it's alchemy, it's real talent!

No, Page's style is sloppy. What came naturally to Clapton and Beck did not come naturally to Page. He had to work hard at this Rock & Roll thing. What he did have that the others did not was extreme creativity.
