@@rsalsman0810 it is a rare point of view some people are capable of. For musicians it is the ability to listen to a song and pick it apart instrument by instrument and block out the rest by focusing on just one. Then they can either copy on a piece of paper note for note, or play it immediately after hearing it just once. Made complicated when songs are layered, this just gets them excited as they then focus on multiples of the same instrument in their head. It is a trick and skill you will see in conductors and score writers especially. They will hear a hickup and off note and stop everyone so that they can read through the pages until they pinpoint at what exact note went wrong then know in an entire orchestra of players which one screwed up with straight up 99% accuracy.
@@rsalsman0810 I am not going to call you out, but it is a rare skill that you may or may not be capable of no matter how long you have been playing for. I live in Siberia. I heard "Kashmir" in 1975. I was 10 years old. I've listened to a lot of good music since then. I have a classical education as a conductor. But Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" is no less than Bach and Tchaikovsky. Jimmy Page is a great musician, just like the rest of the Led Zeppelin musicians.
It's a generous sentiment, but I think even Page would laugh at the idea of Kashmir being on the same level as the Brandenburg Concertos. It's like saying JD Salinger is on the same level as Tolstoy. That's not a disparagement of Salinger: The Catcher in the Rye is a masterpiece, it'll stay relevant until the earth is consumed by the sun. The same can be said of Kashmir. But in terms of scope, range, complexity, diversity, psychological acuity, etc., etc., War & Peace blows Catcher out of the water, & Bach does the same to Page. That's why this kind of well-meant but patently erroneous attempt to compare one kind of classic with another actually does a disservice to art.
@@J29-u8u Yes. Everyone has different tastes. And to explain in words the greatness of music is an impossible task ))) Frank Zappa was right. Writing about music is like dancing about architecture. I am a conductor by first education :) But I agree with you - these are incomparable values. But the time is different. People are getting smaller. In our time, Bach will no longer be able to appear. For us, Led Zeppelin is Bach. I see it that way. But I don't think I'm always right. I could be wrong. I'm just a human being )))

Rob Phillips There’s another great moment in the doc where he’s playing the riff to Whole Lotta Lovin, and Edge and Jack have these wide eyed stupefied grins while watching his fingers on the guitar.
There's a bit in the full movie where Jimmy launches into "whole Lotta love" and Jack instantly turns into a five year old getting candy and Edge literally stands up in reverence. It's fantastic.
This clip, more than any from the movie, shows what a different class Jimmy Page is in amongst these three. I think Jack White is a pretty good musician. But when you look at the two of them watch Jimmy you can see Jack and Edge both know they are not in the same grade as Jimmy Page.

He takes the guitar and says "and at the very end of it I had this thing that went like this... ", and he hits the chords and fucking magic happens. OMG.
I was thinking the same thing. Most people who know Kashmir know that it’s played on an altered tuned guitar and it “just so happens” that the Edge asks about that particular song and voila Page just so happens to have a guitar in his hand that’s tuned to that particular song in question. Um hmmm just a coincidence right?
Actually the Danelectro is probably tuned to DADGAD most of the time and the two pupils seem to be using regular tuning. In any case they would have known what they were going to play.
This old boy with white hair, picks up a guitar and rolls back the years till he's 21 again. This quiet and unassuming old man called Jimmy (plus his guitar) transforms before our eyes into the swaggering swaying monster of hard rock that we all remember from our youth. Amazing.
yeah, he really should have done something with his guitar skills, should have led a band or something like that. But it's too late for him, now he can just sit with these other schmocks and jam some guitar riffs and dream what could have been if some of them would have made it into a song. but then, everybody can jam riffs, songwriting is the hard part.
The reason the drums add so much tension is because of the diff being in 3/4 time and the drums in 4/4 so they sync on every other dominant strike, a bit of bonzo/ page brilliance for you

So cool when Jimmy Page's stands up to play and his facial expressions and body language are so similar to how he was on stage in the 70s. The man still has the same burning passion for music... RESPECT!
Jimmy Page speaks as a posh British old guy, looks like a very formal musical maestro and composer and basically a wealthy English lord. You wouldn't immediately think that he used to be a scum awesome badass rockstar of his day. Then he starts playing, shredding the melody of this song with the hypnotic riff and effect which would leave other guitarists in awe, who would give up everything they had to have just half the talent of this legend who was idolized back in the era of the greatest music in the last hundred years

I've NEVER watched Page play without slipping into the song and absolutely swimming in the moment. He slips effortlessly into his stage presence, head pushing forward, chin first to the rhythm, the dude's still hungry to perform. It's always clear his love, hunger & genius will never grow old and die. Thank goodness these moments are preserved for generations up and coming. There can never be any doubt that it isnt Jimmy Page, Bonham's son, or John Paul Jones whom are against continuing to gift billions the opportunity to see these aging rockers just one last tour.
Robert Plant lost his ability to hit higher notes. He knows it, and it's that simple. When you get older you lose your voice, unfortunately (which doesn't stop Paul McCartney, apparently.).
For the record that dude's name isn't Paul McCartney. Paul McCartney died in a m.v.a. in 66 when Rita (the meter maid) freaked out after realising that the kind chap who offered her a lift in the pouring rain was in fact McCartney. Rita threw herself at the sensation after he'd pulled away causing a fatal accident. Paul McCartney was virtually decapitated instantly in the wreck. The bands MI5 handler took the band to identify the deceased. When Lennon saw the body the MI5 handler commented that he looked like a walrus as McCartney's head was so deformed his teeth were poking through his upper lip. He'd walked right by me and 2 girls i was with and i never even noticed him till my girl said ''hey that's the led zeppelin guy'' / most likely because he had some grey hair and i'd not seen him since the dark hair of the 70's photos. It was Macy's in Aventura (Miami) Florida , probably late 80's or early 90's. There was lots of talk at that time that Jimmy had a place in the area and was living in Miami for a while. Anyway i love all these guitarists. I've come to realize that they are just regular human beings - just happen to have great talent.

They settled and in later interviews and credits they gave proper acknowledgement to the artists. They used. Maybe like a Robert Johnson for the song Travelling Riverside Blues. Or Memphis Minnie for When the Levee Breaks. Led Zeppelin took the blues and put them on steroids. They wrote 95 percent of their own stuff, and in the course of history became the greatest rock band of all time. Any other questions?

He never finished the ritual and thus the demons were never banished! Jimmy page also owned an occult bookstore in London called the equinox!

You actually might be doing it and not even aware of it.
Self taught players that cannot read notes are usually capable of a lesser version of it as they rely on their hearing to figure out which note to play.

Indeed! True greatness.
The amount of pedophilia in that room is just. Apocalyptically. Titanic. Oh...and Jack White & Bono’s mate are there too.
Top comment 👌
The intensity in the eyes of both Jack White and the Edge when Mr. Page starts playing the chords is great. They become guitar students. And then Jimmy Page smiles at the end like he's saying "That was fun. Thanks for asking. Hey, thanks for just being interested. Isn't music fun?"
i could watch jimmy play guitar all day long. amazing how epic all three of these guys are. real musicians.
Hes so pleasantly casual about making anything he touches, magic.
Jimmy would always be cool because he's JIMMY man, look how he dresses ! So classic London, dope AF
Plus his lovely soft accent see them look at him like he's one of the 7 th wonders of the world!
JAMES PATRICK PAGE MASTER OF ROCK & CLASSIC COOLNESS!
Molto bene Sandra!
Sandra Cobban My sentiments exactly...Jimmy is the best...always!
A god
Because they know theyre in the presence of wonder
@@yourmom-fx4sw true but many satanists do that
Man, Jimmy Page will always be a rockstar
In that moment he is catapulted back 50 years. His breathing, his expressions, his movements return in a flood of easily recognizable energy.
Jimmy Page, in the biggest understatement in human history: "It's cool."
Man, the swagger on Jimmy when he plays guitar! He is the prototype for all great guitarists!
yep thats it - swagger
Jimmy Page is actually a proper musician, it's not only rock and roll, it's years of study and sacrifice and a smattering of talent.
And satan worshiping! That bastard!
Well... The man bought crowley's estate for a reason.
I'd say it's more than a 'smattering' of talent. If you listen to his freestyle playing in live shows that's more than a 'smattering' and more than study. It's soul, it's alchemy, it's real talent!
No, Page's style is sloppy. What came naturally to Clapton and Beck did not come naturally to Page. He had to work hard at this Rock & Roll thing. What he did have that the others did not was extreme creativity.
Nick V Couldn't agree with you more.
Im 64 and still in love with Zep. Thankyou ❤❤❤
And on the 7th day God made Jimmy Page.
Bow down him you dirty bag of entrails...lol....
And you haven’t seen him buying grocery from Waitrose in Kensington 👌🏻👍🏻 queuing behind him at tills is a cathartic experience even so if you’re listening stairway to heaven in your earphones 🤓
God made a devil worshiper.
Mario Morciano good info...I’ll be in Chelsea next month and definitely planning to go past the tower house in Kensington. 😊
Chris Ramsey You mean on the 7th day Page made God?
