One of the greatest moments I've never seen written about. Jerry Cantrell takes a shirt from a fan, holds it up to show Layne's image and the crowd raise their fists to the sky.
Sorry but anyone with negative comments should imagine what Jerry was going thru hadn’t been long since they found out Layne had passed! Jerry you’re amazing and I thank you for your courage. You did absolutely amazing!

About 2min in you can hear the sadness in his voice... poor Jerry... he’s heartbroken... 😞 and then that shirt that someone threw at him had Layne on it! That must’ve been even harder for him seeing a picture of him 😔

Despite what happened to Layne.. Jerry carried on with strength and Solomon intent without trying to disrespect Layne and that was hard because the whole performance indicated his mourning through out. just my opinion.

I was pressed up against the steel not 3 feet from the stage. The whole time. It was my little brother's 1st concert. The best concert I ever had the pleasure of attending. Stoned Temple P opened that night. I fell in love with Scott Weilend. lol.

I love this. I remember being 16 and listening to this album. I never got to see him live and i regret that. This song still haunts me but in a way I will always love it. The album was amazing. I would not be who i am today if it were not for this album.

Jerry your a kick ass guitarist one of my favorites Mike,stone,Cantrell my personal favs from my generation Adam Jones is another but that puts me in another place completely different styles. Your style brings me home and moved me from within. It gets me going I list weight set to the beat of AIC. All I do is work work obey obey I hide in clouds that's all I have to look forward to when everyone else is pulling me back you are pulling me through. Thank you for your music blood sweat and tears. You are the best you help me laugh at my depression and I no longer have suicide on my dead mind, but tweaker tweaks no shame, how you play fast slides 🔨 and strings heavy metal minds wow dude. After all we're human we are a life line of hurt and aching hollowed shells of man who need to survive because we pull others through we have to we don't give up but we give them hell. I love Jerry but AIC will never be the same without Layne. Their harmonies and the special sound Layne added alone are what made me a fan..one reason anyway. Plus, I'm a HUGE Layne fan

It's not Alice in Chains. It's Jerry Cantrell's solo tour for Degradation Trip. Duvall's band opened for Jerry and also backed him up.
The full show is actually around 80 minutes and was recorded with DPA 4022 microphones...

He's a really good back-up singer, I was being a little harsh with my comment. I like the new stuff with Duvull I just hope they let him be the lead singer more (and change the name but thats a whole new subject LOL).

Jerry doesn't know what to do without a guitar in his hand. I know he and Layne had some issues the last two years. Could it possibly be that Jerry had William and wanted to do AIC songs? Basically a new singer was in the making when Layne died. Jerry is not a favorite of mine at all. Sorry but Jerry on guitar and Layne on vocals are what made AIC

terrible comment, i can almost guarentee you've never listened to degradation trip volumes 1 and 2 as well as boggy depot. jerry cantrells solo work is some the best most unappreciated work out there. hes one of the best music writers/guitar players to ever live. and if you listen to any new aic with william duvalle his vocals are amazing and so are the songs. yes everyone loved layne, but dont post ignorant fuckin shit

+Garett Maybery Holy Shit Thank you for saying that. Anytime I try to tell my friends about Jerry Cantrell solo work, they just dismiss it as AIC "lite/without Layne." When I try to defend Jerry and say not every song he has written or may write in the future has to be about Layne Staley. Jerry is an individual who has lived his own life. Absolutely Layne Staley was a huge part of Jerry's life both personally and professionally but that doesn't mean that he was Jerry's WHOLE life. And it doesn't mean that because Layne is gone that Jerry shouldn't be able to put out his own music. and not constantly having people say he his trying to replace Layne. It's nice to know somebody out there agrees with me. :)

You do know that most of AIC material (including lyrics) was written and created by Jerry, right? Not trying to hate on LS or anything but the creativity behind it all was always Jerry. Just listen to the album Degradation Trip; it's more "AIC" than AIC haha

Honest opinion, they sounded very flat. Harmonies attempted didn't work. Sounded depressing-no wow factor. Jerry moving around super awkwardly-just didn't enjoy it @ all. Maybe they need the studio to sound good? Lastly I can't believe they didn't cancel SO soon after Layne's death, if there ever was a good reason to cancel....where's the respect?
Julie Waters You have to look at it from their perspective. AIC hadn't toured in years because of Layne's drug use. Musicians earn money from touring, not album sales. That's how it was and that's how it is. This happened 2 weeks after Layne died. You can't exactly cancel a solo tour you're headlining that close. They have to do what they have to do to pay their bills. You can clearly see he's not ready and he's not in the best emotional state but he's soldiering on because there are a handful of people who need him to be on that stage.

Cancel? Touring is their job...when my mom passed away I had a few days off for the funeral then went right back to work. What did you expect them to do? Not work for a year?

Next day after my close friend’s death i went to work right after the funeral, life shouldn’t stop due to someone’s death. I cried on my way home from work and the day he died (the day before the funeral) i was at work and my phone was dead all day and i got to know about my friend’s death only after i charged my phone after i reached home. Two nights of continuous crying.
Love you Jerry. DuVall always fucking up and messing the song played guitar way out of tune. I Will never understand why Jerry choose that Lenny Kravitz impersonator.

Life goes on, Jerry is just as much a part of the Alice in chains sound, he wrote a huge majority of the songs you like...he shouldn't stop his career or anyone else in the band shouldn't stop their career...it's not their fault Layne slowly killed himself.. I love Layne but that to me was selfish.
