So if you tell me that I would need to beat the algorithm to success would I need to increase my habits of the good content cheering or good content creation or what about my head thinking about right now then you success RUclipsrs to take about two and then you inviting your success about CNN
You're right, HanGAR. The algorithm brought me hear. Never heard of this channel, nor did I watch any Mark Robber videos in the past 6 months. Let alone analytic videos.
His videos are also just enjoyable to watch unlike other channels which tell you what’s about to happen, have 10 minutes of BS then the final reward at the end which you would have been better off skipping straight too. Mark’s videos are constantly engaging
I like how Mark R doesn’t shove the usual “subscribe, like, share, comment” crap at us in his videos. Just a simple “consider subscribing” at the end. He’s nice about it and not cramming it down your throats like we have to subscribe, like how literally every other channel does it.
Tom Scott, mentioned in another reply, is another example of this - the no fluff, straight to interesting content (well written, rehearsed, and competently presented) and thanks for watching. You know that Tom will not waste your time. His current stuff is usually shorter than most similar subject videos. Got a few minutes? Watch aTom Scott and be entertained, informed, and turned loose so you can waste your time elsewhere.
Grian is a great example of a large gaming channel that is the same way. He NEVER asks for people to like and subscribe. One day at the very end of his video, however, he said in the nicest way possible, that a large majority of his viewer base was not subscribed and they should consider subscribing. And guess what? The very next video he thanked his viewers for a bunch of new subscribers and he was shocked at how many people did. Just goes to show that RUclipsrs don't need to constantly shove "LIKE AND SUBSCRIBE NOW" down our throats to get people to subscribe. A gentle reminder every once and a while is all that is needed and makes for much better content overall.
We need RUclips to allow us to A/B test thumbnails and titles. I said this to them a year ago and it looks like Facebook is implementing something similar. RUclips should have the ability to allow us to upload two thumbnails per video and two titles. When it goes live, it shoots out both a and b to your following and within minutes it should know which one is getting a higher CTR!!!!
You're so right. It would be such a useful feature but I think they know that, they just choose not to implement. Who knows why, but I have my theories...
@Paddy Galloway I'm guessing there is a correlation between high quality videos and channels who use A/B testing, so having that skill gap allows for the viewer to be guided towards channels that they are more likely to subscribe to and continue receiving/watching high quality content, keeping them on RUclips for longer. I use TubeBuddy too and it's been SOOOOO useful over the past few months (gained 50k views from nothing in 7 videos); it really shows how much information RUclips *intentionally hides* from its creators.
Actually they do... There's too many variables to make this a simple to use feature. So they left an API (application programing interface) that lets you query metrics about your video and change it's metadata (like the thumbnail and title). This is exactly what Tube buddy does.
@@westly7rock too many variables? If it's an optional feature, they can implement a good guess and people can still use some other software / method. Just look at minutes watched per thumbnail view. 10 people see it, they watch a total of 50mins? Better than 8 people seeing the other one and watching for 10mins. So go with A.

here's what you did wrong. Clickbait - in the sense that you don't deliver - will drive people to specifically be spiteful. When I see a bait-ey thumbnail/title I check the uploader to see if it's someone I feel doesn't deliver, or if they're someone I know actually delivers. I'm sure I'm not alone in that.

Geoffrey Moore probably never imagined his “chasm” graph would be so viral and so useful for so long. He published that book with the famous graph way back in 1991.
Dream is also crushing the RUclips scene, he started uploading a year or so ago, and already has 7 mil subs. He’s a Minecraft youtuber known for speed running and such. He’s growing insanely l, last week he has 6mil, a couple weeks ago he had 5, he’s growing at such an INSANE rate.
This just seems like good story telling in general. What, why, how + super cool content. Thoughtful layout. Is it the algorithm or the viewer that likes rober?
One very important thing you forget - Mark's channel gives the old-school early Mythbusters vibe and since pretty much all of us millennials grew up with that show, each and every one of his videos is like a nice stroll down memory lane. Also it makes it catchy enough to appeal to much wider audience with viewers who aren't all the deep into science. Because Derek from Veritasium also does incredible videos, but his a bit too detailed for the average viewer so not as many people stick to them as with Mark. Also can't deny you nailed it with the "homemade" part in the video. RUclips really started as a platform to watch homemade funny stuff and fails, there was almost no production value to the videos whatsoever and watching it becoming like a polished TV network is sad.
Your videos is very informative, in my opinion they are much better than "how to grow your channel" type of videos as you learn from other's mistakes and live experience. Thank you!
We absolutely loved watching the Squirrel Parkour video! It inspired my wife and I to feed the squirrels in our backyard :) Thanks for that great analysis Brother, gives me lots of input for my channel. Blessings!
Elephant toothpaste will just appeal to more people than how youtube works. this is a niche topic and is not for general audiences, that is why. Going niche can be one strategy to have less competition to deal with but the overall viewership can be lower too.
He has 150k subs and get over 4kk in the mr beast video, and has a lot of 500k+ vídeos as well. And RUclips isn't about just making money, for some people the plesure is making a good video even if less people will watch it
It also doesn't hurt Mark that he's extremely intelligent, an aerospace engineer after all, has a great and lively personality, has a network of connections that few people can rival and his ideas are, for the most part, unique and well thought out.
The algorithms in Facebook and RUclips have always had manual adjustments. It's the opposite of shadowbanning, it's really easy to spot when RUclips wants to make someone famous, and in general in social media when they want somebody to fall into obscurity.
You might want to take a look at a youtuber called Dream, in about a year he grew his channel from pretty much 0 to millions! He recently hit 5 mil- oh nvm he already hit 6 million subscribers! Definitely something suited for your channel :)
If he does well even if he doesn't play Minecraft then only you can call him successful because not many people are able to maintain those numbers after changing the games
I definitely agree with these, however I think another massive bonus is the fact that they are entirely family friendly content so the audience can reach pretty much every group, letting RUclips proliferate the growth further. Combine that with interesting and fun videos with a good hook, thumbnails and titles that show off eccentricity, and the delays between videos giving each view even more exciting just makes them explode in popularity
Everyone wants to watch a mark rober vid no matter when its released, he holds us and then shows us good videos and then he waits therfore his audience are always waiting to watch it

Who else is watching but this guy is so good at getting watch time that you watch the entire video and you don’t even plan to post any videos
RUclips algorithm recommends me a person who is talking about the RUclips algorithm. n i c e
YOUR THE MAN PADDY!!! Thank you for being honest and transparent. As for me bein small youtuber I could use all these technics of yours. Thank you very much. Greetings from Philippines!
In reality, Paddy has his strategy telling others about their strategy. Clever....
*Harvard wants to know your location*
I’ve edited this comment so you won’t know what got me so many likes
Thanks Kevin!
@@paddygalloway8780 You're a genius because you introduce a genius and put that in the title?
SkinnyThicc Legend definitely not
SkinnyThicc Legend if everyone is a genius, why are people going outside and thinking spreading Corona is ok?
@@Vinnicombe1 99+% survival rate, masks say on the box that they don't prevent corona. But yeah, the TV said they're crazy so I guess
I never thought of these points. Thank you for this post! You got my subscription, keep it up!
Yep, and Dream is known for studying the algorithm. He even hid a lot of his videos from a certain point back to "restart" his channel
You’ll be shocked to know he now is at 10 million plus subs
Dank Sinatra yep! I’ve still been watching him. It’s insane how far he’s come and how quickly he got to 10mil.
Well done video and congratulations! Using Mark Rober got me to watch your whole video. Well played.
This just seems like good story telling in general. What, why, how + super cool content. Thoughtful layout. Is it the algorithm or the viewer that likes rober?
I mean, if the viewer likes Rober, then the algorithm does too. c;
I genuinely took notes and drew the graphs, thank you! Subscribed
He used to be a nasa engineer he is the big brain time himself
I would say he’s more of a bill nye the science guy. Digging further into my childhood nostalgia
So it must work the opposite with so many USA based "gun porn" videos taking 30 or 45 minutes to do a comparison on ONE GUN.
Your videos is very informative, in my opinion they are much better than "how to grow your channel" type of videos as you learn from other's mistakes and live experience. Thank you!
I'm guessing he has a team of people that help him rather than just him working away at a computer
This man is like Niccolo Machiavelli (author of The Prince). He tells us how we are being enslaved while enslaving us. Bravo!
We absolutely loved watching the Squirrel Parkour video! It inspired my wife and I to feed the squirrels in our backyard :) Thanks for that great analysis Brother, gives me lots of input for my channel. Blessings!
Videos of a good RUclipsr : watch the video while scrolling comments
Videos of great RUclipsrs : engaging enough to not scroll through the comments
Then the question is: If the guy making this video realized what’s he’s doing and understands it why isn’t he a larger channel?
Elephant toothpaste will just appeal to more people than how youtube works. this is a niche topic and is not for general audiences, that is why. Going niche can be one strategy to have less competition to deal with but the overall viewership can be lower too.
You are so its actually working... He's cracking the algorythym unknowingly
Guess what, why i am randomly here? He is really beating the algorithm.
He has 150k subs and get over 4kk in the mr beast video, and has a lot of 500k+ vídeos as well. And RUclips isn't about just making money, for some people the plesure is making a good video even if less people will watch it
Well I came here from recommendations and I don't even know who either of these RUclipsrs are... So...
thanks man, this is really helpful for me. I plan to watch all of these videos, and understand how to grow my own channel.
You are an actual genius
it's like he watched his own video
Content is king
exactly!
Hi Ray Mak
Who is this mans and why is he in everyones yt videos comments
SwettiSpaghetti idk
Very Clever and intelligent breakdown of Mark’s Success- Nice Video and Accurate as Well! Well done!!!!!!!
I tend to click on anything with Mark Rober in the title because he's almost as interesting as his videos. I'm off to watch a Rober Tedx Talks.
He has 2 ted talks.
I beat the RUclips algorithm once, now it beats me up.
I-
You need to improve the thumbnails
Your top videos had the best ones
thanks for the doped vid paddy, super insightful
RUclipsrs are becoming Story Tellers, a quick 10 min story that keeps your attention.
"RUclips loves straight retention curve I'll tell you that"
**Leaves Video**
I'm from the Phils and just wanna thank you for these vids. Def a Masterclass. Someday, some1 would masterclass how you made these vids! More power!
You now are in the viral phase.
It also doesn't hurt Mark that he's extremely intelligent, an aerospace engineer after all, has a great and lively personality, has a network of connections that few people can rival and his ideas are, for the most part, unique and well thought out.
I reckon you got it right this time as this was recommended to me. Good video!
Definitely something suited for your channel :)
yea i was just thinking about that too, paddy should make a video about him (Dream)
If he does well even if he doesn't play Minecraft then only you can call him successful because not many people are able to maintain those numbers after changing the games
He literally knew he was gonna be popular he legit bet on it with a friend
@@salcido17 IKR!
I think I might do dream next ...do a lot of people want to see it?
Once again, this is a QUALITY video. Thanks for making it!!
Mark just seems like a guy that could you could have a beer and a fry up with
Now everyone is beating the algorithm...everyone need to beat the new algorithm
Damn this gave me so much insight into where I'm going wrong with channel. Thank you man, great video!
How paddy Galloway is beating the algorithm
By talking about the algorithm so he knows what to do and when to post his videos
Did anyone else scroll down to the description to look if Mark commented on this video? Just me? Probs just me lol.
I did too lol
Just you
Great video!! Taking notes. Thanks Paddy
I can’t be the only one who has never seen him in my recommendations
Me too. This video made him seem KICKASS but how have I just never seen this?
I've never seen his videos either lol..
It depends on what you watch. You aren't gonna find him literally everywhere....
Me too.. apparently I seen him on this video..LOL
"99% aren't subscribed which is definitely a record" you made me laugh there mate
