Hi my name is Carl Jacobson,
I started woodworking with my grandfather as a young boy. I continued woodworking through high school, and started woodturning after seeing a turned project in a friends shop. Some of my fondest memories are working with my grandfather in his wood shop. Being able to share our passion for woodworking, ties it all together. We also do a lot of epoxy projects as well as woodturning.
Carl, nice work. Love the threaded ring idea. Where can I find those rings?
Thank you Darrell! Here's a link

Thank you so much Alan!!
Very nice
Thank you Vern!!
Those are so fun! Awesome job on both of them, you make it look so easy 😀
Thank you brother!! I'm having a lot of fun with these rings!
Very nice little box Carl. Those threaded rings are a game changer.
Thank you buddy!! They really do finish it off nice!
Lovely looking Pill Box Carl.
I have just watch Bruce Jordan Woodwerx, use a bigger version of the threaded inset.
They look really great.
Take care Carl.
Cheers, Huw
Thank you so much Huw! I saw Bruce's video and he did a great job!!
Take care buddy!!
The issue you have is called "non-linear Thinking " and its a trait of above average intelligence or IQ. Which in today's wokeness is 2 different things lol 😆
lol Thanks for watching!!
Interested in your threaded inserts
Thank you Tim! Here's the link, nilesbottlestoppers.com/product-category/threaded-inserts/
Will the larger pill box be on your Etsy store page?
Sorry Amy, Robin is keeping these. :)
Where can I get the threaded inserts
Nice little boxes, Carl. It's funny you mentioned the basket illusion. When I first saw the beading tool, I was waiting for it but you only did one bead.
Bill
lol Gotta mix it up ;) Thank you Bill!!
Disappointed that you seem to have pretty much abandoned traditional turning chisels.
I'm not sure what you mean? I always use whatever works best for the project. Here's a link to last weeks video, if you only want to see gouges..., ruclips.net/video/CD0fhw4xiSM/видео.html
The whole point of our channel is to educate people, so what you refer to as "traditional" gouges are not. I know people like to call todays turning chisels "traditional" tools to make it seem special, but they're just gouges.
Great project Carl ….. I’ve been thinking about doing a ring box for a keepsake and the thread inserts would be great! I was thinking about leaving a post in the center of the bottom of the box for the ring to slip onto …. What do you think?
Thank you Randy!! That sounds awesome! That would be a great project!
Hello Carl - I enjoy your turning videos, and have a question about your walnut oil finish: do you you use a straight walnut oil (from grocery stores) or is it a mixture that you have developed? Or possibly one of the commercial walnut oils available from woodturning catalogs? Thanks, Jim M.
Hi James, I use Doctors Walnut Oil.

@@CarlJacobson Hi Carl - thanks for the info.
Very cool. Understand the getting on a certain thing kick.
Thank you! :)
WOW Carl simple but very beautiful piece.
Thank you so much!!
That is a great little box. Easy turning. Quick to complete thanks to the threaded inserts.👍👍Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe.🙂🙂
Thank you Glen!! You have a great weekend, and stay safe too!
Neat, you inspired me to continue woodworking in highschool. Which I have one more year of lathe access. I have made stripped pen and pencils with pennstate parts. I made bowls, and want to try and make some mushroom style things like you’ve done. Ive made nearly 300$ and have gotten 700$ in orders recently from my school itself. Ive even been able to see and turned my own african padauk pen. Im not sure if I will continue after highschool or not. But its been an experience. Keep on what your doing. Thank you.
That's so cool, I'm glad you enjoy it! It really is a great hobby.
Take care
Awesome as always Carl! #belikecarl
Thank you brother!!
Nice, Love it! Thanks Carl
Thank you!
Sweet boxes Carl! Lovin the inserts! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you brother!! You did an awesome job on the vessel you turned!!
Beautiful wood. Love the idea of using the brass threads. Fantastic box. Well done Carl!
Thank you Doug! These are Bronze rings, and they work great! Take care buddy!!
@@CarlJacobson sorry, bronze, not brass.
Never stop Carl! The 10,000-hour rule was invented by Malcolm Gladwell who stated that, 'Researchers have settled on what they believe is the magic number for true expertise: 10,000 hours 😁 Another beautiful project! Love the walnut button too!!
Thank you buddy!! Boxes are still my favorite thing to turn. so I'm creeping up on those 10,000 hours ;)
Are you a source for the rings?
Yes we are :) Here's the link, nilesbottlestoppers.com/product-category/threaded-inserts/
Carl another simple turning project for me to copy of yours. I will have to get some of the threaded rings ordered. You are an amazing woodturner! Thank you Carl!
Thank you so much Mike! It's a fun project!
Beautiful Carl.
Thank you very much Jack!!
love your channel
Thank you so much!!
Sweet project, Buddy! Thanks for the tip on grain alignment.
Thank you Lewis! Glad it helped :)
Hi, What is the source for the inserts?
Hey Mano,
We sell them, here's the link nilesbottlestoppers.com/product-category/threaded-inserts/
@@CarlJacobson Thank you Carl. I found the site.
I wonder how many newbies to your channel wondered why you used mustard to put the walnut on the top of the box! 😆
lol Thanks for watching Erin!!
NICE!
Thank you Chris!!
Good info.
Glad it helped!
Those are beautiful combinations of wood and design.
Thank you very much!
